They’ve agreed a deal with Gainsborough but I was told last night that it hasn’t been rubber stamped by the league yet. An interesting week ahead with the NL AGM looming next weekend.

Open to suggestions, but would like to see it go to a good cause.

It is surprising that this strip was not flagged when Wharton purchased the plot of land which is now the training ground.
I have opened the prediction league entry early so that anybody who wants to contribute via that method can do so and so that we have plenty of players to pick from.
You can use the same method to contribute towards player sponsorship. If you’d like to contribute via bank transfer please email me and I can arrange. If you can add a note on the donation page just to let me know if you’d like to enter the prediction league or how you would like your donation to be split that would be much appreciated!
I will add a full list of contributors, as well as current amount raised, on the pinned thread so we can keep track. As soon as we hit the total I will see which players are available with SUFC.

All winners have been notified and prizes will be sent on confirmation of their preferred payment method!
Thanks to all that got involved. We reduced the prediction league entry to £10 last season, but we could put it back up to £15 and split it 3 ways – £5 prize fund, £5 sponsorship, £5 hosting. Just an idea. I’m happy to contribute either way!

I believe the temporary lease & exclusivity period between Cool Silk and DH ends today, but I think it’ll be a quiet day at the office. It remains to be seen how effective the steps taken by DH are with regards to SUFC staying at GP. I do think there’s a good chance it is going to get very messy, very quickly.
With regards to proof of funds, Hilton showed this to Begbies. They must have confirmed to Swann he had the funds in place to be able to complete the full deal.

May 19, 2023 at 12:56 am in reply to: Is there evidence that Swann doesn’t actually want to sell the ground? #262649I will seek clarification later today but that would make sense.
May 19, 2023 at 12:27 am in reply to: Is there evidence that Swann doesn’t actually want to sell the ground? #262644With regards to the ACV, I was under the impression that the reason it was referenced in the statement was because it is alleged he should have notified the council before he transferred the assets to Cool Silk.
Did Swann have an obligation to notify the council if it was a transfer of a going concern between group companies?
This suggests not: https://www.holmes-hills.co.uk/news/2022/march/assets-of-community-value-beware-the-pitfalls/
If it was infact regarding the potential sale of the assets from Cool Silk to DH, I hope somebody can enlighten me as to the issue?
Simon Elliot on Facebook suggesting SUFC have acquired two plots: a 19 acre plot and 14 acre plot as shown below. Boards up at both plots.

I think it will be worth getting down to the fans forum if you can. The timing of it suggests Hilton is either going to announce the deal will complete without a hitch or that it has hit the buffers.
I am not privy to any inside info but I decided to wait before committing to a season ticket, which gives you some indication of how I think it may unfold.

I’m hoping to go. Warnock would be a great podcast guest!

I haven’t really heard much of the Iron Hour. I gave the one with Hilton a spin and have since skipped through a couple of the others, but wouldn’t class myself as a regular listener. Whilst they are definitely approaching it differently, they are giving it a good go and the production value has increased massively since the first episode. We too had teething issues when we started out, so it was good to see they managed to overcome those pretty quickly.
It seems to have been fairly well received and they deserve a lot of credit for sticking their heads above the parapet. You are certainly there to be shot at, as I well know. We tried our best with Swann, but ultimately that was never enough for many which is why we decided not to approach DH for an interview. I am sure, having seen some of the questions that were sent in for their interview with DH, that they may now appreciate how difficult a job we had.
It has been a real struggle to find the motivation to record a weekly IB podcast with the club in such turmoil. That said, listener numbers are still very good and have not been affected by the Iron Hour, so we are definitely going to continue until the day that changes.
We are recording a new episode this week and will then do a number of summer specials including the KVV episode which is on the way.
I’ve also been in touch with somebody else today to confirm another episode that we are doing next week. We will probably keep that one under wraps until we have recorded it and it will be shorter than usual, but the guest should prove excellent value!

Think Foster will end up at Hull. Barnsley looking at Poulter
It’s going to be a very interesting few weeks…

Wilson would be first out the door for me

I saw it. It was swiftly deleted.
I don’t know what’s worse. The fact we are supposedly paying him £1.5k a week or the fact he was injured when he arrived. Amateur hour. The more we keep the greater chance this rolls into next season, especially given Dimmy Jean looks like he will get the summer. I wouldn’t be against letting them all go.

Hearing some form of u-turn is likely to be announced.

The academy debate rumbles on. I actually believe some of what the OP said to be true.
There is some suggestion that the academy would not be eligible for funding next season. This is simply not true. Funding would drop from £500,000 to £250,000 next season. Hilton confirmed as much on the interview with James.
The crucial point here though is that the club did not spend the full £500,000 funding on the academy last season.
The funding is not ring fenced and can be utilised in other areas as long as the academy is run adequately.
The claw backs mentioned can happen to any club at any time but given Hilton has announced the closure of the academy we may come under more scrutiny.
At least two roles, including a Lead Foundation Phase coach and a player care role, were not filled despite the club receiving the funding. This leaves the club open to the possibility of a claw back.
Hilton was correct that the current set up does cost over £250,000 to run so keeping it would cost the club money that they clearly do not have.
However a stripped back academy could theoretically continue to operate for little or no cost next season with the £250,000 funding. They train up at the school and have offices up there, so the closure of the training ground and Glanford Park during the week would have very little impact.
The funding stops completely at the end of next season, so that would be a different situation entirely.
Shortly after
