Scunthorpe United have completed the signing of highly-rated midfielder Dubem Eze on a season-long loan from Bolton Wanderers. The 20-year-old joins the Iron ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, bolstering Andy Butler’s squad with attacking flair.
It had been one of the worst-kept secrets at the club, with Eze spotted in pre-season training footage last week. But the Iron have now confirmed the loan deal that brings the exciting young talent to North Lincolnshire.
“I’m buzzing to be here,” Eze told the club. “Scunthorpe’s a big club with a proud history. I’m delighted to get this over the line and can’t wait to get going.”
Impressing in the National League
Eze spent last season gaining valuable experience on loan at both Chorley and FC Halifax Town, playing key roles as both sides made the play-offs in their respective divisions.
“I did fairly well in the National League North with Chorley – scored a couple of goals and affected games with my skill set,” he said. “Then stepping up to Halifax in the National League was a different challenge, but one I relished. I’ve shown I can make that jump.”
With pace, dribbling ability and creativity in abundance, Eze is expected to add spark to the Iron’s midfield. “I’m a skilful player. I like to drive at defenders, take people on, and create chances. Whether it’s goals or assists, I want to bring end product in the final third.”
Hard Work and Hunger to Succeed
Eze arrives at the Attis Arena fit and firing after a strong pre-season. “I’ve put the work in over the summer — I feel sharp, focused and ready to make an impact,” he said. “Hopefully the fans will see what I’m all about.”
The Iron’s strong following was a major draw for the midfielder, who is eager to perform in front of big home crowds in what promises to be a competitive National League season.
“The manager’s message has been simple: express yourself, be confident, and work hard for the team. That’s exactly what I plan to do.”
