Iron Closing In On Hull City Forward

Iron Bru understands Scunthorpe United are set to announce the loan signing of Hull City forward Hugh Parker, with a deal expected to see the Irishman join the Iron on an initial six-month loan.

Parker has National League experience under his belt, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Carlisle United – although he was largely underutilised by manager Mark Hughes, with 11 of his 13 appearances coming off the bench in the latter stages of games.

The forward started his career in his native Ireland with University College Dublin, where he began to make a name for himself at just 18 years of age, making 34 appearances across all competitions for the Students and contributing five goal involvements in his first senior season in the Irish First Division.

Parker made the switch to Hull City in February 2025 on a two-and-a-half-year deal and became a mainstay in Hull’s U21 side. He was elected captain for the 2025/26 campaign, scoring 10 goals and recording five assists in 21 league and cup outings up until February of last season – form that earned him the temporary move to Brunton Park.

Parker bolsters the Iron’s frontline further ahead of the new campaign following the capture of James Gale, who arrived on a free transfer after the expiry of his deal at Macclesfield.

Thank you to our partners for the 2025/26 season
