Iron striker Joe Nuttall is set to stay at the club for the immediate future having turned down a move to National League club Oldham Athletic.
It is understood a six figure fee was agreed between the two clubs for Nuttall, who is out of contract at the end of this season however the two parties could not agree personal terms.
Nuttall rubbed salt into the wounds with a goal when the sides played out a 2-2 draw at Boundary Park on Tuesday.
“You can never say never but it’s probably highly unlikely that (a deal) is going to happen, so we move on, and we get a player in that does want to play for us, and that’s what I’ll do.”
Latics boss Davod Unsworth told the Oldham Times: “We made an unbelievable offer to a player and the player decided that they didn’t want to come, which is absolutely fine. I only want players who want to play for the shirt.
