These guys love SUFC and we need to stick by them

Cox is setting alarm bells off. I know he’s been dealt a rough hand but playing players out of position and signing Hippolyte is a bit suspect to say the least.

Loft despite that wonder strike is looking like a complete donkey as well. I wouldn’t personally be too pleased on giving him free reign to sign players if those two are anything to go by.

Jarvis and Turan look more promising than Loft. Hippolyte is possibly the worst player I’ve seen play for us in recent times.

Why the hell would a clued up manager sign him ?

No Brown , McGahey , Clarke or Rowe. Vincent is out as well, he’s back at the weekend..same as the other 4 players. I think it’s fair to say I’m not feeling too confident.

    Hornshaw at RB again ?

I hope Cox at least starts Gillead and Eisa and plays them where they should be played. Jarvis and Turan upfront. Beestin and Spence in CM.

I don’t know why I even bothered to go through the team, we’ll lose by 2 goals at the very least.

    Just wet myself laughing!

I also think it’s ludicrous waiting for a player who’s held together with cellotape but there you go. I didn’t sign him and make him captain, did I ?

Ideally we need a RB as well but a GK and CM would go a long way to helping us out. McGahey is due back in a weeks time and I’ll be crossing everything in the hope Clarke not only get’s fit but stays fit for a good while !

Ben Alnick would do for me between the sticks. I looked at all the CM’s free in our kind of bracket and Wordsworth looked the pick of them.

Ideally we need a RB as well but with Clarke nearing fitness, I don’t think we’ll bring one in now.

I’ve just heard Cox’s latest interview in which he said that we are looking at signing 2 more experienced players. Ideally we needed 3 but 2’s better than nothing.

I hope to god one of those is a GK.

    Gk and CM player ?

Swanny doesnt take any notice of what posters say on this site

So, he signs a team full kids with no experience around them…signs a rookie manager and then resigns a permacrock and makes him captain. Throw into the mix we have one of the most unbalanced squads in Scunthorpe United history and you think people are unfair in having their say ?

Are you real ?. This is solely down to swannster playing real life football manager with the club. If Swann fancies himself as a manager/play recruiter then he needs to pack up all his businesses, horses e.t.c and take the qualifications/courses and try and become one.

I’d rather he not play the role while he’s here and feck everything up in the process.

What Swan has done is absolutely ludicrous.

Cassidy, we could get them in the club then for a week and put them through their paces in training and if they come through and look fit enough, contract to end of the season.

No other option now…it’s either that or keep going with these kids in which we’ll most certainly be relegated anyway.

At this point, what exactly is there to lose ?

If we look at said players and they pass getting put through their paces in training/practice games…it’s a win, win for me.

We need to do something…that much is obvious.

That is why you shouldn’t play wingers as defenders….surprise, surprise…they can’t really defend as proper defenders should.

Saying that though even our proper defenders can’t defend so…there you go !

Cassidy, in this case we have no choice…we’ve been forced into this position by Swannster. I only put forward those players as examples. I can’t be 100% they still have the energy to compete but we’re talking about a 31 and 33yr old who’ve both have been playing competitive games.

It’s either we dip into the free transfer market or we’re most certainly relegated. As I said above, we’ve been forced into this position.

Ferrite, not sure about how it works with it recently being altered but all I know is, is that we can sign players right now…which is all I care about.

Only problem is we have an already inflated squad which is drastically unbalanced which includes a raft of kids with little to no experience.

This is why chairman are supposed to be in the background and allow the football people to deal with the actual football.

This is what you get when you have a chairman who fancies playing real life football manager with a real life football club.

Stamp, there are GK’s out there. Mark Howard is another one with years left in him with good experience. There’s no excuse in keeping playing Watson.

Joe Murphy… not played much football in past seasons.

I’d go Ben Alnwick personally. Last 2 season he’s played nearly 30 games in the championship and is only 33yrs old.

Played 87 games in last 4 seasons so least he’s been somewhat active. Last 2 seasons, Murphy has only played 4 games and is 38 yrs old…not far off 39. I’m for experience but when you get somebody of that age who hasn’t had game time, it’s a bit suspect even for my liking.

To be fair to Jarvis and Turan, they both look to have something. Loft despite his good start looks a donkey.

Hippolyte was a pointless signing because Dales is much better and he’s already here. I don’t get that signing at all.

Taylor’s signing was stupid, we already have Hallam, McAtee and Van Veen who play in that withdrawn striker role, albeit with Kev out injured.

You go down the list, most of the signings are pointless. Cordner’s heads gone but with a more experienced head next to him might come good and Vincent isn’t a bad player but needs an experienced head alongside him as well.

Les, in regards to players still “having the legs to do a job”….I suppose we get them in and have a look at them closely.

Anthony Wordsworth for example has played 47 games in the last 2 seasons and is only 31 years of age. Calum Woods the RB I saw who was available played 13 games last season at lg 1 level, setting up 2 goals and is 33yrs of age we’re not talking about spent forces here.

I’d get them both in personally with Jak Alnwick as the GK we need. All available and we could do with all 3.

I don’t think Mr Swann makes any decisions based on what people say on here or social media awaywego

Signing a load of players off your own back and appointing a perma crock as your club captain is plenty enough. That’s already way too much involvement for any chairman.

Scunnymatt, as I said above…I was genuinely surprised who are still out there without clubs still…not players you’d deem crap but players with pretty decent track record.

Only question is…..how much of the budget has Swann wasted whilst fulfilling his youth squad dream ?

If we sign an experienced GK, RB and CM with McGahey due back, we’ll be alright. Van Veen to come in later on as well.

We need those experienced heads for the spine desperately. If Clarke wasn’t a perma crock we wouldn’t need a RB but some bright spark signed him back up and made him captain.

    Good Ole Swannster.

I was surprised with the quality of experienced players without clubs when I looked last night.

Anthony Wordsworth 31yrs old, plenty of games under his belt..surprised he was without a club. A RB who played at league one level last season who’s available and those GK’s.

Only question is if the budget is taken up with Swann’s scatter gun approach in going for quantity over quality.

I know people may say “oh, well if they were any good, they wouldn’t be without clubs” but with the cap now put on clubs they simply have reduced budgets and at our level have to pad their squads out with youngsters so a lot of these experienced players just find themselves with a club.

You could very well be right but signing an experienced RB until end of the season wouldn’t carry that much risk providing we can stump up his wage.

Swann needs to go deep in his pocket and pay Dales contract up, we have enough wingers and he’s not getting game time. May as well move him on and get a few free agents in, in his place.

Iron awe, we need a RB and an experienced CM player….signing a GK won’t be enough. Spence is a good enough player but we need a calm head in CM.

Nobody at the club seems to rate Rowe and Clarke’s a perma crock.

Signing another CB is out of the question, Onariase and McGahey when he’s back will be more than good enough. In my opinion we have much more important players we need. A GK, RB and CM are all absolute musts.

Ben Alnick 33 yr old gk, previously at Bolton is available, as is Mark Howard 34yr old gk..also Paul Jones 34yr old gk previously at Sheff Wednesday.

Anthony Wordsworth for CM and Calum Woods at RB. Woods played 12 games last season in lg 1 with two assists so he must still have something to offer.

All those GK’s are better than Watson and all experienced.

Signing the players up before a manager comes through the door, all being kids with no real track record, no experience and then signing a rookie manager to manage them was always asking for trouble.

What chairman in their right mind pre appoints a captain before a manager is even here ?

Swann and his meddling again. If by a stroke of luck we stay up this season, he needs to go before he completely sinks the club.

Cox isn’t entirely blameless either. Gillead isn’t a Wing Back and Hippolyte shouldn’t even be on the bench, nevermind on the pitch at LWB.

Rowe’s fit, he should have played him and Butroid…both questionable but you don’t keep playing square pegs in round holes in an already struggling team and expect it to turn around.

Cox is clueless, we need an experienced manager through the door to sort this mess out and even he’ll probably be tearing his hair out “providing he has any to begin with”

Not really sure what Lillis is doing here, he can’t be having any input, surely ?

When I saw Conrad Logan play for mansfield last im pretty sure he was the wrong side of 20 stone

Neville Southall looked a dive away from a certain heart attack for years in the prem and he was pretty decent.

Cassidy, there’s a lot of experienced players out of contract..more than you’d probably have thought if you checked. There are some pretty decent player. The thing is, now budgets are cut, plenty of teams are having to go now with smaller squads and more younger players to fill their squads up, which means a lot of these players are without a club.

Hardly idea as they’ll take 3 weeks to a month to get their fitness but as we’ve said already, they’re our only option now.

Wordsworth in particular is just what we need, not blessed with great pace from midfield but he’s played plenty of games and he’s pretty classy for this level…certainly miles better than anybody we have “which admittedly isn’t saying a lot” but you would have thought he’d be a good signing.

Ben Alnick 33 yr old gk, previously at Bolton is available, as is Mark Howard 34yr old gk..also Paul Jones 34yr old gk previously at Sheff Wednesday.

As I said, there are players out there.

Cox said he picked his best players ?

Rowe was fit. Olomola should have at least been on the bench.

I feel sorry for Cox because he’s having to babysit these shitty players but he’s clueless himself. Hippolyte at LWB and Gillead at RWB ?

Cox signed Hippolyte, which begs the question…..has he signed the right player or not ?. Cox said he impressed him when watching him as assistant for Notts County….can’t have been him surely ?

I’m being serious when I say this now….he’s one of the worst players I’ve seen in a long time. Taylor isn’t a CM midfield player either, you can see why he’s more suited to playing further up.

Stick Rowe in at RB. Butroid LB and go 4/4/2. Eisa and Gillead are our only hope of scoring a goal so least play them where they’re supposed to be played.

Loft is dogshit. A complete donkey. Jarvis looks half decent, I’d stick him upfront with Turan until Olomola is fit.

Besides 3 or maybe 4 players who gave it a go, they we’re a disgrace. McAttee needs moving on, I think he’s already gone in his own head anyway.

Just been doing a bit of digging.

Conrad Logan 34yr GK is available on a free transfer. I remember watching him play for Manfield, he’s used to have bright ginger hair. Always used to be pretty decent.

Calum Woods..at tranmere last season, RB played 13 matches last season in lg one and set up 2 goals. 33yr old.

Junior Brown as the obvious LB.

    Darren Potter 35yr old CM.
Will Atkinson 32 yr old CM.
Anthony Wordsworth 31 yr old cm. Pick of those 3 you would have thought.

Plenty of players out there without a club, no excuse. I wouldn’t mind Conrad Logan, Woods, Junior brown and Wordsworth here.

Only problem is now is that Swann “blinded by his masterplan” signed a shit load of players we’re stuck with which are now eating up the budget.

Old Swannster went for quantity over quality. Why oh why doesn’t he just sit in the background and not get involved…never bloody learns.

I’m of the same opinion. Swann’s made even more of a balls up. Swann’s probably thought “o, Crewe can play well with youngsters, we’ll go down that route.

What he failed to factor in, is the fact Crewe have the coaching infrastructure and have been taking that approach for decades.

Swannster again has involved himself in the footballing side of things when he’s got no fucking idea what he’s doing. What chairman in their right mind buys the players in “all kids”..appoints a club captain and then signs a rookie manager to babysit ?

The guy is a walking disaster. What made me laugh was, cox said Swann was trying up until deadline day to sign experienced players but couldn’t afford the outlay. This is why chairmen shouldn’t get involved in anything other than signing off on deals when they have absolutely no clue about the football side of things.

When they do, crap like this happens. It appears he’s realised his little plan of going with kids hasn’t worked even this early on.

This is why chairman should sign a manager and let them do their job. Honestly, he’ll never learn. Swann’s meddling will be the death of us.

Now we have to hope we sign some good experienced pro’s to see they can save us.

Fingers crossed we stay up this season and then Swann can move on. I suppose he’s had a good crack at it but he’s the one who’s responsible for this shambles. Enough’s enough now, he needs to move on…he’s killing the club.

“Who’s your favourite manager Peter ?” lol

Extracting the urine a little I feel. Swannster reeled off his footballing upbringing..coaching e.t.c.

I wish he felt a little more like an actual chairman and not a football adviser/coach/wannabe manager/football player recruiter.

    That’s half the bloody problem.

Expect 3 cb’s tomorrow with 2 wingbacks. I can feel it in my bones !

No doubt he’ll go down on the “wasted scrap heap pile”. One thing I hate is talented footballers piss around and waste their talent when you get less talented in the lower leagues who try their hearts out and some of which never get the break they need higher up.

Free’s up a wage anyway, hopefully we get a few in.
