I know you lot are sceptical but Swann sounded like he wanted out…we’ll have to wait and see.
I am afraid things appear to be a continuation of the past four seasons, when fans can leave the matches and think to themselves, what the hell am I doing here after watching many more defeats by their team
Jesus christ barton, a little positivity never killed anybody. Look, the club is in a difficult spot and it needs turning around. That potential transformation will not happen over night, we played well against Sheff Utd but due to not having any strength in depth we mixed and matched against Rochdale and we were found out.
The squad is thin but I’m sure we’ll add further players. This will take time but let’s not all be too downbeat. I like what Hills done so far in terms of more experienced players with Butterfield, Whitehouse and Boyce looking like key additions.
Patience is needed by all in these times.

but why the hell anyone would wish to buy the club in its present status, god only knows
Well if he’s looking for a complete cut, which it sounds like he is…despite us being in the national leagues, it’s still somewhat of a black canvas for new owners to mould and shape as they wish.
That’s one solid reason as to why people would be interested.
I know he waffled a lot of bullshit but I actually believe him over this. Swann’s not that crazy to claim he’s agreed a fee for the club and every that goes with it and the do a complete U-Turn, surely ?. The one part I believed over everything else was the fact he wants out and for that reason alone I think it will get done.
I bloody hope so anyway.
Matty Done is one that springs to mind.

If …
So many clubs get to this point then the deal collapses.
Let’s get excited when the deal is done.Allow yourself to be even slightly excited. The funds are obviously there as Swann wouldn’t have agreed the price otherwise.
Have faith !
If the Rochdale game wasn’t a clear indication to Hill that we need further strengthening then I don’t know what more it’s going to take. Strength and depth isn’t really there.
Striker position is woeful to say the least.
I agree. I like what we’ve done so far but definitely need more.
Rowe is a RB and will always be a RB…we need more players in now so we don’t fee the need to have to ram square pegs in round holes.
I was encouraged over the performance against Sheff utd by Gallimore but he must have had a blinder that day because he does kind of look like exactly what he is, CM playing at RB.
Definitely 2 strikers, one wide player, once CB and probably a RB. Anything happens to Rowe next season and we’ll be severely stretched. I do like the signings we’ve made apart from sick note Nthle who’s injured already but we definitely need more.
Nothing we didn’t already know. We also need another experienced CB. Even though we have progressed, we’re still in dire need of attacking players.
If we don’t sign 3 or 4 players, we’re obviously going to be woefully short.
Nthle has picked up a knock as well….he’s another sicknote.
The Scunthorpe fans Facebook page has stated a potential takeover has been quashed due to Swann wanting to keep hold of shares so that Coolsilk still have access to the land.
No idea how true it is.
I hope that’s not true. I wouldn’t be surprised though if there’s truth in it. Swann always did want the land !

on top of that a big new shiny sign above the east Stand with Glanford Park on it, another thing I heard on Saturday was we are trying to get someone to sponsor a new scoreboard.
That’s another pointer to a take over because that was a deal Swann signed so surely if he was to stay around, wouldn’t that sponsorship deal still have been in place ?
Couple that with the fact Butterfield has come in and Swann out of nowhere is giving a random interview. I hope I’m right and he’s on the verge of pissing off.
The acid test is Swann, he must leave before a proper relaunch can take place, just too much poison around the place while he stays.
Couldn’t agree more.

One or two getting a bit over excited about someone who has done very little so far as a professional footballer.
Who exactly is getting excited ?. All I said was that I’ve read that he’s doing well in his trial. Turnbull when he mentioned Duane Holmes, he didn’t stupidly mean it as he’s as good but that he simply reminds him of Holmes in his playing style.
You’re reading too much into the comments MKiron.
No injury. Waiting for work permit papers to get processed to allow him to feature. Impressing in his trial from what I’ve read.
If we sign Kahoussi, 2 good strikers and possibly another CB I think we’ll be in with a great shot of being near the top. Nthle isn’t really a CB and if Taft or Boyce pick up injuries then we only have ethan young as back up.
Whitehouse and Butterfield in CM with Taft and Boyce who look really solid at the back. O’Malley and Rowe would be top end-ish fullbacks in this division. Evidence so far we have a confident and able GK.
This team though looks way more better than last seasons “not saying a lot I know” but still, it’s a vast improvement.
I bet with Butterfield and Whitehouse we would have been way more effective last season. Hill has had them slogging their guts out as well and the whole team look way, way fitter.
I feel a little odd because following Scunthorpe United in years gone by optimism and United don’t really go together but I do feel pretty bright about where we’re heading.
If Swann also goes before the end of the week then that’s another plus point.
Fingers crossed !
I wonder whether there is truth in this takeover coming to fruition soon and that’s why we’ve held off on strikers. I find it odd that Swann would just come out for a random interview when he knows everybody hates him.
I hope to god he’s going to announce that the club has changed hands.
We may have been waiting for that to happen to then get some funds and sign a few good strikers.
This signing is a piss take really for that level. If we can keep him fit for the majority of the games he’ll stick out like as a sore thumb at that level, not too dissimilar to what Beagrie looked like when he came here.
Honestly this signing is right up there for me. I’d pitch him fairly comfortably top end league one so how the hell Hill has snagged him is anybody’s guess.
Top, top signing.

I think he’s really put the graft in so far , he looks in terrific shape so he’s obviously 100% committed. I’d rather see him score but the ball he whipped in for Daniel from the right was class so at least he’s contributing. I think he’ll do well this season.

no wide left player?
That Kevan Kahoussi we still have on trial…we tried to get him playing against Sheff Utd but had trouble getting international clearance but we’re hoping to get it for tomorrow’s match.
I don’t know how true this is but I did read that somebody who’s supposed to be in the know claimed he’d really impressed in his trial so far but we obviously need to see him in games.
Kahoussi could very well be the LW we end up signing…he’s supposed to be quick, he’s versatile as he can play upfront and out on the other wing as well.
Just need to see him now in a match situation.
Harrison Poulter has been scoring regularly at youth level for a while now.
Yes just seen. Is that post even relating to Scunthorpe United though ?
I’ve no idea !
But if the rumours are correct by Thursday the club might be in a lot better place,
I’m a bit behind all this. I know that reporter charlie Wilson said there were 3 interested parties who all put in bids that were below the rather ridiculous 6mill asking price.
What else has been rumoured ?
Kevan Kahoussi is still at the club in trial and is currently fully fit. The club tried to get international clearance to see him in the game but couldn’t get it in time.
They will try to get it so he can play against Rochdale.

One of the desired ‘two strikers’ seems to have already arrived.
Fair to Daniel he looked natural up there and he’s fairly clever. One more striker then to go with him and Nuttall. If Lewis is seen as more of a LB then we need a left sided attacker signed up.
Gallimore looked really good at RB as well. I prefer him in CM but we already have a fair few and if we sign Butterfield we may as well mould him into a RB I was against Gallimore there but I think he’ll be a lot more solid there than Pugh was.
If he can stay fit and he’s as good as some on here are saying then won’t his agent be looking to get him the best financial deal possible? If so then surely a league one or two club with more money then us and that’s a lot of clubs these days, will come calling.
Going by today he’s top end league one level kind of ability and he’d be more than comfortable there. As I said on another thread, if we can somehow pull this off it will be the signing of the season by a country mile.
Not sure. Hope Swann is near to pissing off though. I hope to god that’s why he’s feeling the need to come out and speak because anything other than that, people just don’t want to hear from him.

I was looking forward to seeing how the young lad faired as well. Butterfield completely ran the game from the middle, if we sign him and he stays relatively fit in the conference, he’ll take the piss.
I suspect it may be similar to beagrie’s impact when he came here. Lofty expectations but you can tell he’s even way above league two level. I’d place him top end league 1 kind of quality and he’s be comfortable there.
If we can somehow pull this off…what a signing
