Still not ready and is far too light weight. Dean won’t play Big Gez with Elliot so he’ll never play Poulter who has little to no experience in men’s football.
Definitely need another striker to add more depth upfront but if Dean is hell bent on only playing the 1 up top, what would be the point ?
Beestin’s not a winger and never will be. If he’s hell bent on playing him then he should play a different formation.
4/3/1/2
Stick beestin with Bunker and pugh in a CM 3 and play butterfield behind a front 2 of elliot and big Gez. If he’s playing with genuine width than play Shields. I thought he looked pretty good with that cameo he had a few games ago.
Early info was that Dean liked to play with wingers and get crosses into the box
That’s how he played at his previous club. They had ferris and somebody else who were free scoring and played quickly with width. I can’t understand why he’s playing like this here.
I honestly didn’t expect him to be this safety first.
If you look at Elliot at his other clubs he’s seldom been played as a lone front man, he’s mobile, runs the channels well but you can tell he’s not got the attributes to be scrapping for the ball upfront on his own.
Not good enough with his back to goal and as mentioned above, his decision making when it comes to bringing other people into the game in terms of passing isn’t the best either.
I don’t see why Dean doesn’t play him with big Gez to give him that bit of help.
Still early days with Dean but under Nelson we were getting the ball down, playing through teams with 2 up front and we were starting to play some nice football.
I feel like with Dean we’ve regressed from what Nelson was doing. I mean don’t get me wrong, I like him as a person and think he comes across well but early indications are that tactically he’s not really that clued up.
That’s just me comparing the way Nelson went about it and how I feel Dean is faring.

Elliot’s not a lone striker
Ferris is shite
Shields not seen enough of
Will Smith looks solid enough
Everton richards look solid enough
Leake is ok but not sure he’s an improvement on Daniel
Bunker is a good young player
Chapman is a definite improvement on Foster
Big Gez looks alright
Fewster has done a Lord Lucan1 user thanked author for this post.
To be fair since Dean has come in he’s improved, he’s much more positive now when it comes to getting forward and taking shots on. Limited but he’s more than good enough for this level.
Not sure with dean. Had the chance of 4/4/2 and play with width and 2 strikers but went like for like. Dean could have even brought shields on for Beeston and had him and Wilson either side to offer a bit more going forward but just settled of what we had.
On that evidence Ferris is shite, Wilson showed more in 25+ minutes added time than he did in 65. Elliot isn’t a lone striker, looks like he’d be better with a partner up there.
Why do we always seem to employ safety first managers ?.
Ironically the only one who’s had us playing positively with 2 upfront was Nelson and he didn’t even have a contract. I applaud Dean for having his way of playing but it’s not really working.

4/4/2
Chapman
Ogle Smith Everton Daniel
Wilson Pugh Butterfield Sheilds
Elliot Big GezNeed 2 upfront. Leake is no better than Daniel and doesn’t have the experience. Still dodgy at the back and Smith looked solid when he came on the other day. Play with some with for once with actual wingers and get some service to the strikers for once.
Fewster still not making the squad, we’re talking about a player here not so long ago was being scouted by 5 premier league sides due to his contract running down at Forrest.
I find it a little strange that he can’t even make the bench as a back up for the no role Butterfield’s playing in. Little suspicious that SST comes out the the rumour he’s gone back, which was said to be false but hasn’t made the squad since.
I’d rather somebody at the club just came out and told the whole truth, we can ill afford to leave players of his ability out, we need all the help we can get.
Daniel needs to be in at LB. Leake is alright but we need all the experience out on the pitch we can muster. Bit late in the day now but we can do with another striker as well.
I also don’t really like this 1 isolated striker upfront I fully understand Elliot wasn’t available but why not push Beestin up alongside Big Gez, even Wilson for that matter and change shape ?
Seems like Dean has one way of playing and doesn’t really deviate from it.
I read an article on line the other day which mentioned he was scouted by 6 other premier league teams who wanted to sign him due to his Forrest contract running out, whether he signed another contract with them I’m not sure but to be looked at by that amount of teams and show promise in his first appearance and to not even make the squad…
Forest fans all seem to rate him.
I don’t know about you but that doesn’t add up, surely something must have gone on behind the scenes.
Pugh’s tackling is a bit iffy at times and he goes to ground far too often and dives in when he should stay on his feet but to be fair to him, if he bursts forward with the same energy as well as digging in and breaking up play as he did against Dagenham, he’ll prove to be a good player for us.
As long as he’s playing that same role and he’s told to keep his passing simple to have him just knock in into the fullbacks, he’ll be alright.
Limited but I quite like him, every team needs a Pugh type player. Bunker next to him is a lot more better then he is so if we let him be the more expansive of the two, they will be ok. I thought him and Bunker complimented each other really well.
A blast from the past but Pugh reminds me a bit of Wayne Graves with less passing ability.

You know the comments you tend to come out with “women are only fit for the kitchen” type ones, I know they’re just throw away
“jokey” comments but a certain poster called iron awe takes them seriously and goes into mini meltdowns so just be mindful of that.Look, he writes ridiculous comments objectifying and downplaying the role of women, you get your white knight cape on and start moaning about it, which then makes him want to write more because your reacting to what he’s typing and making a big deal of it.
He’s typing what he’s typing because of the way you’re reacting to it.
I think it’s fair to say that posters on this forum “potentially apart from awaywego” do not in any way believe women are only fit for the kitchen or that they’re of little importance, stop getting wound up about.
I wouldn’t read too much into it. I don’t think he hates women in football, or even women in general. I think he loves the response he get’s when he comes out the “women should be in the kitchen” kind of comments.
Look, he’s a wind up merchant. I suppose he could be the next undiscovered Fred West and have 10+ women buried under his patio but I’ll go with the theory he’s just a wind up merchant.
It’s crystal clear to me as to why he say’s what he says. Stevie Wonder would even be able to see it. If you treat what he says as a joke when it comes to his misogynistic comments, he would tire of it I’m sure.
Fewster was supposed to have been a really good young player. Forest fans said he resembled Ryan Yates when he was that age.
Surprised with the team when It was announced. I thought Dean had lost his marbles but for the most part it worked really well. I suspect Beestin hadn’t been doing as much work as he should have been doing in training in the past because after Dean had them all doing fitness work for a week and worked them harder in training, Beestin seems to be back to the Beestin that would actually get around the pitch.
Young Bunker though, what a player. 19yr old and played calm and composed like a veteran…he was solid as a rock. Richards Everton, I feared was going to be a dud as there were 2 sets of fans saying he was shite but he was superb. Butterfield was the usual Butterfield and was outstanding.
Young Leake looked a lot better at LB and Chapman made a huge difference so a lot to be optimistic about. I’d like to know what happened to big Gerry Mcdonagh. I looked forward to seeing how he fared after his goal last week.
Elliot was ok in patches but as somebody else said above, not sure he’s suited to the lone front man role.

only here a month ..
No, here’s here for an initial month which means there’s scope there to extend it.
Harrogate fans seem to rate him. Played all the but one or two of their games in their promotion from National league and started twice at Wembley for them. Can play RB at a push but is primarily a CB.
According to their lot they expected him to play in their first team at league two level but because he got that injury he’s not featured. Makes a change to have 4 CB’s in the squad after having just Taft and Boyce for as long as we have.
I don’t expect Taft to feature anymore now and wouldn’t be surprised if Boyce is dropped if Everton and Smith play half decent.
I personally can’t stand her. I remember she once was commentating on a premier league match and the language been used, she came across as though she was a new age, football demi god.
1st, 2nd, 3rd phase. Transition this and transition that…she was speaking as if football was rocket science. Gave me the impression she was trying to intentionally over complicating the game in order to come across as some kind of football genius.
She was commentating with Gary Neville I think at the time, he was talking in simple terms about not getting enough people back to defend and getting caught out of position, she then blabbed on for a solid 5 minutes talking about multiple phases of play and various transitions.
I was thinking at the time, please shut up. Nobody else could get a word in edge ways.

Another CB has come in on loan for an initial month. Played a lot of games for Harrogate since he moved there as a kid from Barnsley. Not played much football of late as coming off a double hernia operation back end of last year.
Harrogate fans rate him as a few stated he would be starting for them in league two if he had more football under his belt. That’s the 4 CB’s we always said we needed for competition.
24yr old, 6ft.
“I’m a centre-half. I just want to head the ball, clear it, win tackles and play a bit as well. It’s going to be healthy competition. It’s something that you need at a football club, which is good. It’s going to make everyone play better and want to be in that starting eleven.”
“I’m fine now. I’ve been training for six or seven weeks now, so I feel really good and ready to go.”
Or same back 4 and Gk
Butterfield Fewster Whitehouse
Wilson, Beestin or Feeney in the no 10 role
Front two of Elliot and McdonaghA lot of options now so god knows what he’ll go for, we’ll have some good options off the bench now. You could even go for Ferris as part of a front 3.
I forgot about him !
Would 4/3/3 work with who we have now ?
Chapman
Leak Everton Boyce Ogle
Butterfield Fewster
BeestinWilson/Feeney Mcdonagh Elliot
He hasn’t played for us yet Burny so don’t say he can’t defend yet, leave it until after Saturday.
Supposedly shite though so if he’s what they’re saying, he’s going to be another Taft in disguise.
I said what I said on the premise that he’s as bad as other teams say he is, Bradford fans said he was crap as well. I can’t obviously be certain as I’ve never seen him before. That goes without saying !

I never said it did make him a good winger. All I said was that his attributes “what he’s good at” leans more towards playing further up. I have never and will never pass him off as the next Peter Beagrie.
Well how many goals have we conceded from set plays and crosses this season.
No good if he’s tall but can’t really defend though, we need both size and ability.
Awaywego, we’ve moved on a fair few players out on loan. Richards-everton wanted to move closer to home to be nearer his family according to Yeovil’s end.
Supposedly shite though so if he’s what they’re saying, he’s going to be another Taft in disguise.
