We were really poor compared to how we played against Kidderminster and yet still won. Much, much more to come from us.
Rowley hasn’t been involved because he’s been injured, but is now back. To judge Shrimpton on that is ridiculous, he was only on the pitch for 5 minutes and were his first minutes of the season.
Difference between Butler and Dean was Butler counteracted Buckley Rickets by putting an extra midfielder on to close the space down, if that was dean he’d have stood there clueless until they equalized.
“no more HMS piss the league this year as it made us look twats last season”
I don’t think people took much notice apart from Grimsby fans. This season we have a fitter team with a manager who appears to know what he’s doing.
David O’Leary, why did you not sign all those times after you were spotted at forest pines ?

Beestin looks like he’s been a natural striker who’s been playing out of position in CM. Butler expects him to be back Tuesday. Special mention to Barrows as a lot doubted him but that ball he put in for Beestin to slot home was fantastic and for me he’s a better player than Ogle by some distance.
Clunan is back to clunan of the first half of last season. Scales was Scales and Nicholson is the best CB I’ve seen in a number of seasons and is definitely at least a lg 2 CB. Roberts now is starting to grasp the attacking midfield role.
This team/squad under Butler far more superior to those of last season. Butler as manager is streets ahead of Jimmy Dean. Way more positive and brave, not to mention miles ahead tactically.
We’re looking incredibly strong.

Beestin looks like a natural striker to me. Butler did say he was a natural striker and was unsure, but it’s definitely looking that way.
They made him the Iron’s MOM mainly because they thought he’d scored.
His effort that hit the bar was unlucky would have been a great goal.
Was it just me or is Roberts starting to look a bit more comfortable as a 10 now he is starting to use the full width of the pitch rather than staying central?
I noticed that. Roberts is roaming from that spot and is drifting out wide, if he carries on doing that he’ll be fine.
Evans is an improvement on Boyce and I have to say from what I’ve seen so far, Kelly looks a tad better going forward and more solid defensively than Denton. I’d keep Kelly and Evans in personally.
Carlton will need another few games to get up to speed. To say he was rusty against South Shields is an understatement of epic proportions.
Whitehall’s first touch at times was absolute garbage and he doesn’t appear to work the hardest either. I’d rather Carlton was up there for his running power and pace and it may force us to play the ball into feet more.
I’d also be tempted to stick Evans in at CB for Boyce for his passing ability as this system relies on CB’s who are actually cultured enough to be able to pass the ball out. Evans cross field passing is deadly at times.
We went too direct which was odd because when we played the ball on the floor into feet we looked the much better team. Lesgeo, a tactical mess ?. I wouldn’t quite go that far, Butler just gambled trying to get more players forward.
We seriously need to stop going so direct, we need to play it into feet a lot more.

Didn’t play well at all and when you combine that with Needham Market playing probably above their actual level, it made for a very close game. One thing I will say is that when we got the ball down and played into feet we looked miles above them, but didn’t do it enough.
Whitehall penalty aside was slack and Boyce’s passing from the back was abysmal. 3 points in 3 points at the end of the day though and we got another clean sheet.
I think Carlton will be in for Whitehall when he’s up to speed.
Hope WG sort of understands why we didn’t sign him.
We didn’t need him obviously. Beestin, carlton and Whitehall are all definitely better right from the off and Butler rates Fishburn, so what would have been the point in signing him ?
You must be one of the only Iron supporters who has WHAM’s back. Are you unwell?
He/it is a wind up merchant, end of story.
I’d also change Roberts for Brogan and I’d maybe rest Beestin for Fishburn. Beestin we’ll have to manage to keep him fresh with the injuries he’s had and even though Roberts has been poor in ACM, he’ll need managing correctly too.
You could even make a case for Rowley or Shrimpton to get a start to ensure Scales is fresh for this Sat.
The conman was after breaking us and making money once we were liquidated and he get’s a slap on the wrist ?.
What a joke.

Do you work in a launderette WG? Some expert advice there lad!
Ha !. No, I can’t say I do. I used to have that happen all the time though as a kid buying shirts when my dear Old Mother used to abuse the washer’s temperature dial.
I also wash trainers few times a year in a muslin drawstring bag with some trainer cleaner popped in each trainer and it’s never done them any harm. They come up very clean and never had stitching come out. Cool wash and pop more delicate items in a bag and it prevents damage when they rattle around or catch on the drum.
If you use that as a mantra you can’t go wrong.
Football shirts are supposed to be washed on a cool setting and turned inside out to protect the stitching of the club crest/badge.
What you’re describing iron414 usually happens when it’s been washed on a far too high temp.
You can also put the shirt in a thin muslin wash bag to further protect it. You can buy them from e-bay fairly cheaply.
Typo there, yes I obviously meant to type Trolling. Awaywego is purely a wind up merchant and are not very good at hiding it either.
The website must be absolutely the worst online user experience ever
I suggest you go and take a look at other fan forums, this is light in comparison.
I think Clunan is starting to look like the Clunan who was playing brilliantly for the 1st half of last season. I personally think he keeps everything ticking in CM and is very neat and tidy. In don’t understand why people would want him dropped. In fact I find it mystifying.
Awaywego is purely strolling as he/it is in 90% of their posts.
Who gives a shite about Scunthorpe Telegraph ?. All the telegraph used to do was print old interviews which you could read several days before from other sources.
I suspect they’ll still want money out of us to report for us and we won’t pay it, which is quite right as I wouldn’t either.
I would watch Whitehall pissing around with water bottles, but I wouldn’t dream of drenching a rival player with a pint of beer, In my opinion you’re part of the problem.

Whitehall is a great finisher as shown yesterday, but the team fitter as it is now with players all over the pitch working harder, Whitehall does stick out now. I’ll be kind and just say he’s the least hard working player.
Beestin with the role he’s playing working as hard as he does and linking up the midfield and attack, I wouldn’t drop him. Carlton can finish and looks a more complete striker than Whitehall going by pre season so be interesting to see if Whitehall ups his game.
Roberts is lost playing this current role, at times in the first half we had absolutely nothing in CM
Same as against Brackley when he was subbed at half time, he doesn’t look suited to that role. From out wide cutting in there are few better at this level, but this central attacking role I’m not sure. I’d be surprised if Brogan isn’t picked before long if he doesn’t improve.
Roberts struggled again in that role, he looks awkward playing in that position. I’d give him a little while longer, but if he doesn’t improve Brogan needs to be starting.
Carlton is interesting, who would you start him in place of, Whitehall or Beestin ?
Whitehall is a strange one because today his all round game was poor, but popped up with an excelled finish. Beestin obviously isn’t a natural striker, but I think he plays an important role in this team as he’s clever and knits the midfield and attack together and he can also finish as shown against Brackley last sat.
Be interesting to see where Butler goes with it once Carlton is back.
Moving on to today’s performance, unspectacular first half, but improved drastically after the break and knocked in another two goals. We look a completely different team to last season in terms of fitness, team shape and overall physicality of the players.
It does make you think that if we had Butler as manager last season with Schofield as assistant with these fitness levels and more robust players, would we have been promoted with the ability of squad we had last season ?

Beestin (when Carlton is back) depending on formation
Beestin will only play in CM if there are no other options available, which going by the number we have is highly unlikely. Butler strictly sees him as a striker/forward.
Anyway on to Braithwaite, he’s training with us, but playing at Gainsborough which is not only handy to get him and keep him match fit, it’s important for development because he hasn’t played that many games throughout his career.
I will say though that if he keeps chalking up the assists for them it will be a matter of time before clubs start to take notice. Before it becomes a real possibility he could be poached by another club we’ll need to step in and offer him a full contract.
However much we all want it to stop it won’t and that’s not just at our club it’s football in general it’s always happened and all ways will
I’m sorry, but throwing a pint over an opposing player is taking it too far. It will be the same stupid stone island wannabee hooligans. The same group of pillocks which look to range from late teens to early 20’s are the one’s that have been doing it for a while. The same absolute spanners kept throwing flares on the pitch in the national league season.
If that group of idiots were permanently banned all the crap would stop.
How does the dual registration work with wages, and who has priority ?
I think we hold more power over him in terms of priority. Butler explained it fairly well and came across as he’s there to get his match fitness and he’ll be straight back here as and when we need him.
No idea when it comes to wages. Made a massive impression there already. 3 assists in his last match and one on his debut. Braithwaite’s a very, very good young un.
I wonder if the money from that land sale will go towards developing Quibell park, or at least put to one side for that ?. There is the simple fact though it could go towards clearing that covid loan that Mr seven names took out.
