Creates more drinking time and income pre match.
Over 5000 fans have attended our 2 home games to kick off at 5.30pm, so the time appears popular. He informed the Board last week of his resignation and will be leaving next week. Very unusual for a CEO only to be required to provide a 2 week notice period if all was going well. Hmmm.

Perhaps Butler wants more goal scoring options on the bench? None of the regular subs have scored in the league yet.
Now the National League are saying you can get 3 points without scoring more goals than the opposition, if we retrospectively applied this new method think how many points we would have amassed over the years.
The goals scored by our players today should stand. 4-1 win should be awarded. The league need to nip this in the bud with a tough punishment for wealdstone.

Man Utd start with 5 defenders and Grimsby could have been out of sight at half time. Clearly nerds the advice of AB.
Always amuses me how fans say all sorts, whether to opposition players, their own players on social media, but some immediately start crying if the opposition players respond or as yesterday Butler called out that constantly slating a young keeper on social media isn’t supporting him to a better player.

Not sure how constantly criticising a young keeper is supporting him. The management have see him every day in training, so think he’s good enough.
Plenty of young goalkeepers have some nervy moments, Sam Johnstone did with us. Pleased Campbell made an encouraging start and Butler’s prioritised spending his budget on an array of attacking players.1 user thanked author for this post.
Anyone know how much money the Trust have available to spend on obtaining new shares?
I hope the budget is lower than the Swann years, except the last 2. Maxing out the credit cards didn’t work out well. Michelle said the budget will be mid range. Might have to rely on good recruitment, spirit, organisation and luck for a good season, rather than outspending everyone.

If we stay in NLN, we will most likely have the biggest wage bill in the league, so the side should be competitive.
One positive this summer is we won’t be recruiting players to play in that awful 3 5 2 system, that unbalanced the squad when we eventually abandoned it.Michelle deserves a statue for saving our club.
I genuinely think there was only her that could have pulled it off, being able to negotiate with swann and Hilton, and gave credibility and confidence to individuals and the council to contribute funds. Sharp certainly couldn’t.
Thinks seem to have changed since the owners acquired equal shares.7 users thanked author for this post.
I can’t think of anything that Peter Promise spent money on that successfully increased revenue streams for the club longer term, which was a real shame. Hopefully in time there can be investment in facilities that bring us additional revenue.
I hope the music festival comes off, it could be a great event for Scunthorpe. I suspect lots of people told Michael Evis he was wasting his time.Expensive job for someone responsible for recruitment that has seen us assemble an unbalanced squad and not a single summer signing has made us better so far. Some may do so over time.
I also wondered why he was always available to do commentary on Humberside last year rather than watching other matches to scout potential new players or future opponents. With all this constant talk of being brave it feels like lots on here have signed up to the Neil Cox school of punditry.
On a separate note have the club announced the new CEO on the website?
When we play 5 defenders and 3 central midfielders who don’t score many, goal scoring is always going to be difficult.
No need to panic but if we persist with the 3-5-2 I would like butler to be more adventurous and play a winger at wing back. Having a player who can carry the ball upfield will give us a different outlet to going long all the time.Would a love a cup run.
Reaching the 3rd round of the fa cup was a regular occurrence during the Wharton era raising valuable income.
Since our cup record has been awful.
A cup run would be another great step in restoring the finances and will be interesting to see how we go against teams above us.Looks like scales will be the right wing back. He played right back at farsley before signing for us.
They said they will use the loan market to cover injuries and suspensions.
Should score plenty from set pieces with the extra height in the team and Nicholson having a long throw.1 user thanked author for this post.
Are the current directors not fans?

Got the impression it’s someone with existing commitments who might have to serve a notice period.
He’s had a few stints with Russ Wilcox who would fit the experienced coach description, but I’m going to guess Torps. Not sure which other coaches he’s worked with.Listening to that podcast made me proud to be a Scunny fan. The work Michelle and the board have done is inspiring. Crucially they give the club credibility, that encouraged those 3 individuals to donate 100k each and the council to spend millions of government cash on buying the ground to ultimately save the club.
Much rather have what we now have than owners with no connection to the club, totting up unaffordable debts for short term glory and their ego.9 users thanked author for this post.
Attacking this forum and spouting drivel is an interesting tactic to persuade north lincs voters on here to vote for him and his labour mates.

Paul Hurst takes them to the FA Cup quarter final. Next minute they want him sacked.
The signings would suggest he didn’t have much of the cup money to spend, Eastwood for example who wasn’t great for us. Or players just don’t want to move/ commute to Grimsby.
Also hilarious that artell made them much easier to beat initially.Don’t think being a CIC should prevent ground sponsorship. The rule is any surplus generated should be reinvested, rather than shareholders receiving a dividend.
Can’t think of a better way to spend the substantial government cash for regenerating Scunny than saving our club and investing in future income streams.
Massive thank you to everyone who has made this happen.2 users thanked author for this post.
Agree, players will have to depart and or agree to pay cuts for the club to survive. Finding other clubs who want and are prepared to match current players salaries won’t be easy as some are on big wages for non league. Therefore losing our better players seems more likely.

Suspect given the dire financial position they will be looking at selling naming rights for the ground.
Think this new community interest company being set up is another example of how hard Michelle and co are working to save the club.2 users thanked author for this post.
Unless there are some Hollywood actors who want to replicate Wrexham or one of us wins big on Euro millions, I’m struggling to see how we get out of this upsetting mess. Who would pay 3 million for the ground, around another million clearing existing debts, then cover the annual losses, that have historically been above a million? Clearly not the saviour.
I think most things in this update fans should be concerned about.
Hilton said previously he saw the debts when purchasing the club, so he knew what mess he was taking on. The tax bill was paid but it seems the other creditors haven’t. These will include small independent businesses that depend on the cash.
Is this why there is a new kit supplier, new arrangements for booking the away travel because those companies were not paid?
Didn’t see any reference to the pensions, are they now being paid?
I think the academy decision is very sad. Those young scholars that were taken on and are now being released have had their education and football dreams damaged. Local kids will no longer have a pathway to become a pro footballer at their local club.
The academy has started to produce some decent players recently, with 6 members of the current squad being academy products, plus a few more sold.
No other owner has had an issue with ground safety. Some of the safety measures you need to have in place will be regardless of the level of football and the number of fans. Others will be based on the number of people watching, some based on the likelihood of trouble. The gates so far are higher than some games when we were in league 2, so hard to see why being in NLN would justify a significant reduction in stewarding costs, other than less away fans and no more weekly protests.
Hilton is hoping the club doing well on the pitch will keep the fans quiet. That strategy unravelled under Swann and will do so much quicker this time I suspect unless he finds money to pay the debts.3 users thanked author for this post.
I get the impression that DH will actually make improvements rather than just talk about it. Look forward to seeing more detailed plans about the proposed development and how the club will benefit.
Donating money rather than loaning it is massive positive.
Interesting that he thinks the training pitch is really poor quality and that was one of the few things swann actually did invest in, it seems not very successfully.
Inevitable that big cost savings have to be made so we can live within our means.
That said, don’t like the relocation to Ilkeston, seems unfair on the scunny, Donny and east Yorkshire based players and staff we have. Surely this change will cost more money if we have to pay for a bus to take people to Ilkeston. Having a pudding of a training pitch at GP would be good practice for winter in NLN. -
