The first half was awful. The post match interview was a very awkward listen and Fair play to Olly for persisting. I want Andy to do well, I want the team to do well. I don’t think they’ve stopped playing for him but it was clear to see something isn’t right when you consider we have more quality and depth than other teams at this level. Yes you can argue that the quality isn’t great, but it’s still better than others in this league. The players didn’t look like they are enjoying their football, the subs during the half time break didn’t look like they were itching to get on. The body language speaks volumes. I really hope it changes. I went today with a friend who doesn’t watch Scunthorpe often, his comment at half time was he’s never seen such a poor game of football…. yet the crowds are a reasonable size and the team is not far off the top. Strange times

It’s awful. Only positive is that it’s not raining.
Great picture montage. Difficult to comprehend how 6500 people lost their lives building stadiums for the Qatar tournament, mind bending tragedy.

It’s an entertainment business. 5-4 wins will retain or grow the fanbase, 0-0 and 1-0 hoofball will see the crowds tumble.

Come home Sir Nigel. Walking is great

but if he wins the next 3 he could be December manager of the month !!
That ship has sailed I’m afraid. There has to be an experienced manager who knows this level inside who would want to come, surely ?

Hopefully a good match but talking about nullifying the opponent when playing at home doesn’t inspire confidence. I’m of the Kevin Keegan school of concentrating on what we can do and outscoring the opponent.

Thought this was going to be a story about a new signing, a hardman central midfield enforcer called Anderson who receives a lot of bookings
The problem with a new manager is that they invariably don’t rate the previous managers assembled players. The club cannot afford to terminate contracts so sacking a manager and dispensing of players won’t be an option.
And as poor as things are on the pitch at the moment, the club don’t want that reputation of simply hiring and firing, having no direction or strategy etc.
Kinda with Fansy on this one and just hope he turns it around as he learns his trade and promotion is back on the cards after the next 10 games.
Don’t even suggest it Rene
Great bants…. will he get Lawsy in as a motivator/advisor?!

George Doyle from Golcar United
A lot to agree with on this thread. Think we only need a couple of elder statesman in the spine. The rest should be young, hungry and fit to go. Bolstered by young loan signings a bit like the Buxton lad !

Yeah found the bbc radio link and sounds as depressing as Saturday looked
Just got in from work …. is the game on tv or live commentary?
November 3, 2024 at 2:33 pm in reply to: … “Playing all the right passes, not necessarily in the right order” … #292854The full backs push on well, but opponents appear to be able to get their crosses in consistently, which is a full backs job to stop
Is mick Buxton available ?
Don’t want to sound negative but I’m always a little wary after a big win that the team lack a little respect for the opposition and subsequently don’t follow up with a similar performance. I’m with SanFran in that they need to be respected, they’ve come a long way and have a well seasoned management team. I’ll be happy with the continuity of a win and not expect another high score as being nailed on.

I read the post and thought the author was Renee
Yep under Swann we changed from a club spotting talent, bringing it in then selling it on for profit when they had improved enough to be wanted by bigger clubs with bigger budgets. This basically kept us turning over reasonably successfully and for awhile we climbed the league structure to our highest point since the early sixties. Mr Swann bought a lot of decent players in who were over our budget and we got one promotion from league two and a couple of playoff flirtations but in the end had to sell our better players to pay off some of a huge debt we should never have been lumbered with. As many have said before, one man’s vanity almost cost us our club, that’s why we should be patient and tolerant with our current management structure, without them we would have been toast
A lot of shite was signed…. I lost count of the free transfers incoming but were on huge wages and had past their best 2 or so seasons prior to joining. Now need players who are under 28, have a point to prove and are therefore hungry to improve not just turn up and take a wage.
What exactly has gone wrong ? What is the solution?
Wolverine like mosschops
Yes.
As per MM above.
Should be doing better as a full time club, still early days but the optimism has evaporated3 users thanked author for this post.
That’ll do nicely

Always best to make subs around the 70 minute mark so the stats suggest. Jimmy might be trying it out on football manager with other ex players who fancy themselves a bit
my crystal ball is away at the repair shop .. but suppose a lot it depends on ones age.
Im 60 next bday so going on my prediction below the jury is still out.
3-5 years to get out of the NLN
Then
5-10 years to get out the NL at the right end and back into the EFL.Thats a min of 8 max of 15 years could well be pushing up daisies by then.
Living abroad will give you more years…. so I say yes you’ll see it !
