Think I must have been Bobby. Every game seems to be a nightmare these days.

It was a long way from Watson’s best game this season but still comfortably our best player.

it’s OK saying its a poor league, every team I have seen looks 2 divisions higher than us.
Both of those statements are correct Mick.
We shouldn’t be putting a 16 year old through this shite by the way.

Onariase made to look very good today.
Whatever has happened to Taft? If not for Matheson he would be the worst player on the pitch today.
It speaks volumes that there are no players that arrived during Neil’s time appearing on anyone’s keep list.
Recruitment of Watson, O’Malley, Pugh and Rowe had nothing to do with him and in fact he pretty much only played them if he had no option. I’m told he was a nice man but he was bottom of the list of the many Swann managerial appointments in terms of capability.

Worcester game was at Kidderminster.

Had a dig on the internet and this from Sky Sports at the time seems the most coherent explanation I could find regarding the loans given to individual clubs:
“The remaining £20m, called the ‘Monitored Grant’, will allow clubs to apply based on “need”, the EFL-Premier League statement said, with a panel set to determine each club’s eligibility.
The statement added: “Clubs subsequently in receipt of a ‘monitored grant’ will be subject to certain restrictions, in respect to transfer spend and player wages.
“Clubs who keep to the restrictions will not have to repay any of the funding required, whereas for clubs in breach, the ‘monitored grant’ becomes repayable by the club.
“Any club in receipt of a grant or monitored grant payment will be required to continue to maintain compliance with the EFL’s financial regulations.”
Remind me what changed after the memorable period Renee?

Of course it would need 2 clubs to both get a significant points deduction to be of any benefit to us.
If Manny is going back to the National League he might as well go to a half decent team nearer home.
I know he gave away the odd penalty and is not the most composed of centre backs we ever had but he always worked hard and made opposition forwards work hard.
Enjoyed watching him in times when there has been so little to enjoy.
Thanks Manny and good luck wherever you are heading. If Keith’s found a better replacement he must be pretty good.

Something happened to Watson early this season regarding his confidence.
Always had skill and is a better than average shot stopper.
He made no attempt in previous seasons to control his area and whilst he is not yet in the Joe Murphy class at doing this he is now competent.
He used to have a problem when he couldn’t hold a shot to push it in front of him. He very rarely does this now.
His distribution is still probably his weakest area but even that has improved this season. He is not helped in this by the fact we have never had a forward that can challenge for, win and retain a long clearance in the whole of his time here. This means he is often trying to hit a 2 yard gap inside either touchline. The Man City keeper can do this pretty consistently but not many others.
Now a quality lower league keeper and at 25 could get better still if he works hard. Don’t let the fact that he has always had a shite team playing in front since he got here cloud your judgement. Player of the season by a mile.
Forgot to add I will be joining the growing list of ex season ticket holders until we get new ownership (unlikely) or we get some delivery on the odd promise (even more unlikely).

Don’t disagree with those lads staying Sanfran although I suspect 2 or 3 may get better offers elsewhere.
Personally I would keep Grant, Watson and Feeney. Possibly Onariase and Beeston if they don’t get offers elsewhere. Would also try and get Delaney to come permanently.
If we have learned one thing over the last eight years it’s that who the manager is makes little difference if their strings are being pulled.

Not seen a keeper in League 2 better than Watson although to be fair we rarely give opposition keepers a chance to shine.
Would love him to stay but would not begrudge him the opportunity to build his career away from this basket case of a football club.

Rowe is the nearest thing to a competent right back at the club at least until Millen is fit. Should be playing there until Millen is back.
Another 8 or 10 games and Matheson might show some promise but that is Wolves problem, not ours.
Lewis is the nearest thing we have to a competent left back until O’Malley is fit. Delaney is a decent left side centre back and needs to play there. He is an average at best left back so playing him there weakens us in 2 positions.
Onariase is our best right sided centre back. Not perfect but the best we have at least whilst we need to play Rowe at right back. Grant and Feeney have to play in midfield. Sinclair is now showing some attacking promise so play him. If Beeston is over his Covid problem then play him. Nuttall and Burns up front and there is our starting 11 until relegation is certain.
Once we bow to the inevitable we should only play people that will be here next season plus the people we would like to be here next season. Fill the rest of the team with our promising youngsters that haven’t already been tapped up by bigger clubs.
Tell the players they are playing for their pride and their future careers. Send the those who have not bought into getting fit and working hard on garden leave.
It’s a simple game Keith, let’s get back to playing it that way. If that frees up a bit of time for you and your coaches you could start looking for the dozen or so players you will need to find to keep us in the National League next season.

I think Hill has known for a while that the fat lady has packed up her microphone and is in the taxi home.
He is letting the ownership know that in professional football you should only pick players that are prepared to get fit enough and work hard enough to make a difference.
Shame we have spent the last 4 years bringing in a constant stream of players not prepared to do either.

Blatant handball to bring the ball under control at the start of the run for the equaliser.
Having said that the defending was thereafter was ridiculous. Agree with MM though it was 10 against 12 today.
Bizzarly one of our best second half attacking performances this season.

Our defenders are very dangerous at set plays.
Not so much from the ones that we take though.

A bit harsh on Brigg Town BS.

I think you are exaggerating for effect Ni. I do believe those 3 could probably keep us up.
Pyke, Sinclair and Nuttall probably not. Hill obviously made the wrong calls in January.

Probably not directly Mick.
All the owners of Man United have done is badly mismanaged the football side of the business whilst creaming off the profits. Oh and without ever using a dollar of their own money.
Pretty wholesome as owners of Premier League clubs go.

Ferrite I think we knew Green and Jarvis were not League level players. They had plenty of chances over a couple of year and failed to take them.
Green had pace but could not pass or shoot. He never looked like scoring and I’ll be buggered if I can remember an assist. Most of his runs ended with him on his arse and if there was a resulting free kick it usually went to the opposition.
Jarvis worked hard most of the time and very occasionally flattered to deceive e.g. his cracking headed goal. Most of the time he looked what he was. A 6 or 7th tier footballer.
Loft had some skill and had a decent game about 1 in 5 games. Seemed quite good at self delusion and thought he was too good to play for a shite team. Not exactly pulling up trees for the slightly less shite team he plays for now. Hippolyte was pretty dammed hopeless for a season and a half and then had a run of half a dozen games where he looked adequate. Such was the dross around him that some of us (me included) mistook that for being good. Saw half an hour of him playing for Stockport the other day and he looked OK in what is obviously a better football team than the one he left. For me he is the only one of the four we have missed.
Hill had to try something at the end of January and Swann funded 7 or 8 lottery lucky dips. Delaney has so far proved the only winning ticket. Grant might do so yet and certainly an upgrade on Kenyon. Feeney and Sinclair the jury is very much out. Pyke and Nuttall have rather demonstrated why they have such poor scoring records and why they were not wanted by their home clubs.
The problem here though is not Hill’s panic “buys” in the January sales. It is the 3 years of recruitment by the non footballing father and son combo.

We have to face facts Nuttall, Pyke and Sinclair don’t have 10 league goals between them in their careers. We needed 20 from the 3 of them in less than half a season to have a chance of staying up. Let’s be honest none of them have looked very likely to score 1 yet. Always going to be a very long shot and you don’t pick up goalscorers at the arse end of the January window.
Jarvis is hardly the answer with 2 goals in 2 years and is clearly not league (or even National League) standard.

Routine away point with a patchwork team. Unfortunately doesn’t help much. If only we could play Crawley every week.
Hard working performance from the whole team. Nuttall does not look great but head and shoulders ahead of Pyke. Well done to the young lad on his full debut and possibly the best referee this season.
Probably the only good news they could think of.
Nothing against Wharton and agree the present ownership has elevated him to sainthood but his best ever move was winning the lottery when he took the cheapo option in replacing Brian Laws.
