35 degrees predicted in Maidenhead at match time. Was contemplating a late run down there tomorrow but saw that temperature and decided to have an extended drinks break instead.

Can we keep our political views and prejudices on the Non Football forum please?

Did anyone seriously think he would suddenly turn into a quietly walk off into the sunset kind of guy?
There may well be more pain to come but there is absolutely nothing any of us can do about it.
Early days but the vast improvements on and off the field suggest he is having no input to the day to day running of the club. Time to put the ownership issue on the back burner and get behind Lee and Keith in their efforts to turn us back into a football club.
If you had to choose one it would be close. 2 hours listening to Coldplay or 3 hours listening to Awaywego.
Awaywego just wins it for me.
Probably because they can. Also Parkinson will only get one more season to deliver promotion.
Can only think it is Rob Lainton who is their first choice when fit.
Dibble is second choice and Howard third. Don’t think fourth choice Rory is pulling £6k a week but shows the difference in finances between Wrexham and ourselves.
Even in the Swann spending years we never had 4 keepers with League experience and certainly never paid £6k a week even at the top end of League 1.
Anything but the title and automatic promotion is a massive underachievement for Wrexham. Mind you it was last season.
If we only get 2 I think we need a centre back and a forward with real pace. Ability to score a goal or 15 if possible.
But Swann leaving might be a Lightyear away.

Nothing wrong with his attitude or work rate when he came and did OK while Hurst was here. Downed tools when Hurst was sacked having had his head turned by Newcastle.
If Hurst had stayed McAtee would already be a Championship player rather than hoping to be one next year. Mind you if Hurst was still here we would still be in the league.

Had 1-1 in the Prediction League all week but a sudden rush of optimism has got me changing it to 2-1.

Not much more than a bus load of die hards from Somerset given it’s on BT so anything in excess of 2,000 is OK.
First game of season factor and the club’s laudable efforts with fan experience encourages me to predict 2,500.
Swann gone before we hit 3,000 without much away support.

Very disappointing take up for this year. Never mind the actual league.
Is it not worth a tenner a year to help with the costs of Bru?
Easier to cut and paste from elswhere the following day.
Does he play up front?
They will probably still play with 11.
I think we can assume both Hill and Cox significantly played down just how much of a sh1t show they walked into.
Hill is still getting paid by the astute one and Cox subject to an NDA. It may take a while but I am sure we will hear some horror stories if the great man ever does leave.
Personally I don’t blame Hill. He spent some buttons in January having been forced to let Loft and Onariase go. When it became obvious that sticking plaster was not going to hold he gave the kids a chance to get some experience ready for this season.
His reputation says he can produce competitive team on very low budgets. Well they don’t come much lower than ours in full time professional football so this season is when we see what he can do.
If we spend the season not unduly worried about relegation that will be success. Halfwayish and the man is very good. If we even threaten the playoff positions he is a fecking genius.
I reckon only Beeston and Nuttall likely to start from the team that waved the white flag so vigorously at Bristol.
On that basis I am going to be optimistic until proved otherwise.

I doubt Ronaldo would have scored more than 3 or 4 playing for the teams we put out last season.
Perhaps surprisingly the OWS seems to be up to date with the first team squad. Further evidence of the club doing things better these days?

They have moved Gallimore from up front to midfield since adding the Carver signing.
If Carver is a genuine target man and he is good enough for this league then we might be able to keep the ball in the oppositions half for long enough to create some chances.
Trying to think of the last time we took the field with a genuine target man. Apart from Toney’s brief spell I am struggling to think of one. Wootton could have done it but was never given a real go at it.

I agree it is a very good deal for the Cods. They get to keep the precious one for the season but still pocket a bit of cash.
Only posted it because I couldn’t resist the lame joke.
This will be his 5th season with us, was in the team when we got relegated from League One…absolute madness that he got given a new 2 year deal!
So many seasons. So few games.
I agree IA and feel for the lad too. Cannot be a lot of fun constantly working at rehab and then back to square one every time he plays for a few minutes.
The really sad thing is after 3 years he has not played enough for us to know if he is any good or not.
Unlikely Hallam would choose to leave without having the full value of his contract paid up.
The chances of him getting a gig elsewhere must be close to zero.
1. Goalkeeper can kick the ball to players in his own team. Boyce tells Taft (and the rest of the defence) what to do and where to be. Butterfield has Grant’s capability and nous but his legs still work. Whitehouse has a bit of bite which we haven’t had in midfield since Bish left. Nuttall and Feeney are match fit – neither was last season. Beeston is over his long Covid.
Not saying we are great but we don’t have to be to be capable of beating last seasons team.
2. Can’t do anything about this one but the mystic that is known on here as Wondergoals says he will be gone this week.
First time we have been in the third round of a cup competition for a while.

Not questioning what you are saying WG. Indeed I really hope it’s true.
It’s just that there is a lot of recent history at the club of things that are “supposed to happen” not actually happening.

Not really clear if it is the prospective new owner(s) passing the FA test that will be announced or if it is agreement of a sale of the club.
I suspect that supporters will be told only once a deal is legally completed. The current owner has always been clear that his business arrangements are none of our business which of course is his perogitive.
