I absolutely defend your right to feel, think and say whatever you like Siderite.

Don’t mind mind me I’m just drowning in the torrent of self righteousness.

Why don’t you offer to pay him back the money he has spent and ask him to leave?

    I think that might work.

I will never forgive Swann. I judge Iron owners on what happens with the Iron during their ownership.

I bet Old Trafford still has 70 odd thousand attending despite their third player or ex player in a couple of years accused of beating up their partner.

Only wrote that because I wanted to emulate AA and post 3 in a row on the same thread.

Also bear in mind the crowd will inevitably drop this Saturday – qualifying round of the FA cup is probably not going to generate massive excitement. Perhaps the league game with Brackley a couple of weeks later is a better test of support or otherwise. I will be at both and probably the Chorley game in between.

We all have our own views depending on our belief systems as to people that do something seriously wrong deserving a second chance once they have paid for the consequences of their wrongdoing.

Mine is that everyone deserves a second chance.

For what it is worth my advice to David Hilton is that whilst I understand his desire to keep the record of his wrongdoing from the public domain that was never going to happen in the position he is in. He has obviously owned his actions and consequences privately and made a success of his life since then. Today’s publication and confirmation gives him an opportunity to own it publicly and completely move on. Of course some will villify him for his mistake but my faith in humanity hopes the majority will accept his mistake and judge him solely on his actions since he arrived at our club.

I do think a short but sincere apology for misleading the fans of club back in February would help. At the fans forum he denied having used names other than Hilton and White. I cannot recall his actual words but he effectively denied any past criminality which also was untrue. Sorry and move on will do for me. It would also help to speed up the validation and payment of any outstanding debts the club still have.

Putting all that aside I would personally like to thank David Hilton for saving the club I have loved for 60 years and for the massive amount of effort and money he has expended to make that happen. In addition to saving the club from extinction he has turned around the 5 years of decline presided over by the previous owner. We will probably never know if that decline came from spite or from mind boggling incompetence. From dreading attending matches and being embarrassed by inept performances he has got me actually looking forward to attending football again. A massive achievement in my book in a time frame I did not think was possible.

The club will allways have my support. Friends you can choose. Family and your football club you are stuck with. But David Hilton himself has won my personal support for the job he has done and I wish him well, hopefully continuing as chairman of our football club. If he chooses otherwise then I wish him equally as well in whatever path he takes.

Story in the Athletic alleging Hilton has conviction for Fraud under one of his previous names.

Don’t know the detail as I don’t use paywall publications on principle.

A non exhaustive analysis of abandoned matches suggests the result stands only when the home side is losing and have some culpability in the cause of the abandonment.

Examples of this are floodlights failing, fans on the pitch or red carded players refusing to leave the field. I did not find any precedents of games abandoned due to weather conditions only not being replayed.

Thought I saw Barrows there yesterday.

Also Ogle had a chat with the physio when he came off and disappeared down the tunnel. May be nothing but Barrows would be the obvious replacement.

That was the moment I realised Swann had totally lost the plot. Signing Perch on £4k a week.

Perfect example of a utility player – could play equally badly in a number of positions.

Totally out of character we did see him score 2 wonderful goals. The one against Exeter and an even better one against us playing for Mansfield.

Our government on our behalf sells billions of pounds of arms every year to the Saudis and many other middle east regimes.

We let them buy our football clubs without much of a question from the fans of those clubs.

Then we get self righteous about a footballer topping up his pension. Who is the biggest offender here?

I am normally totally against fielding weakened teams in all but the tinpot cup. However, the combination of only 1 automatic promotion spot and no reserve or U-21 games means our squad players have to get some game time somewhere.

Real shame about Roberts but probably explains the potentially expensive loan deal for Smith.

I would think it is safer to keep Roberts (and Clunan if he is OK by then) for the FA cup game the following week.

Assume Jimmy will start with a team of squad players that need match fitness in that game which is much less important than League games this season.

Buxton clear at the top of the form table if you take it over the last 4 games. Scoring lots of goals too.

Could be our toughest test so far.

Rather than replacing Wilson/Sembie Ferris I think he is going to have to fill the Scales position for now. Assume Scales will get a 3 match ban for that red card and Beeston/Clunan unlikely to be back anytime soon.

In the 2 you missed Awaywego we were the better team, played well and achieved deserved and fairly comfortable wins.

I was impressed with Dean and the teams reaction to the Curzon performance and result.

At Curzon we played at too slow a tempo, midfielders and full backs rarely broke the line in support of the forwards and we did not drive at the defenders with the ball. Against Scarborough (probably a better side than Curzon) we did all 3 things much better.

It’s promising the coaching team identified the problems and had them fixed 2 days later.
