IMO with so much talk re the budget and how tight things are to have 3 keepers in a 20 man NLN squad is just not necessary. Last season we only had one keeper for spells and when we did have 2 the second wasnt even on the subs bench.

According to Schofield he’s simply here on trial and got game time. I can’t see him being on much and was on trial at Notts County before he went to play in U.A.E, so must have something about him.

I imagine we’re planning for the future because I don’t see Fitz staying beyond this season if we don’t go up this time. Long term thinking maybe at play here.

Agree the squad is shaping up pretty well but when the pennies are tight surely you dont take an extra keeper a season in advance when vital wonga could be directed elsewhere.

Has someone come in for Fitz ? and hes in need time to decide mode that would be a shame but again possibly a nice fee involved being as hes under contract. time will tell.

In his post Bottesford interview Schof skirted around the trialist keeper subject and basically did a Manuel “i know northing”

Strange one… I can’t see us carrying 3 GK’s this season on our vastly reduced budget.

SURELY No way should/will the club have 3 keepers for the upcoming season squad, at the same time moving fixtures for amongst other things budget reasons an extra keeper simply isnt needed so would be mightily strange if it happens.

Unless of course if Fitz is leaving ????????

    The 5 recruited so far

Charton Ubo pleased looks a decent aquisition
Brogan pleased looks solid and will hopefully score a few from midfield (ala Butterfield)
Fishy pleased not sure at first but now settling in looking like a good option up front.
Nicolson pleased great bit of biz IMO solid and long throw merchant.
Rowley pleased Like the sound of this fella , good comments from Chesterfield fans

Hopefully a couple more to come in as suggested by LT be nice to see one of these a smaller nippy Sharp/HooperESK style striker goal poacher who can finish most chances.

Now half way tru July and still all quiet on the signings front … the silence is deafening…circa 26 days until KO away against Brackley.

Tad surprised at the lack of recruitment action .. squad very light on numbers bearing in mind the injury prone and suspensions that are bound to happen.

Spain showed all how the game should be played to aplomb.

Our midfield was terrible. Play to not lose is not the way to go against a dominant team.
England had the easy street route to the final. Lucky to be there the way they played in the run up.

    Bang on ..

When Palmer scored i honestly thought we would press on attack all out and go for a winner and get it ..sadly the total opposite happened , we retreated back off went defensive and allowed Spain to mount attack after attack and score .. Football was the winner Spain totally deserved their victory from the first ball kicked last month to the final they have been the best team by a mile .. and i might add seeing off the likes of Germany and France in the tough half of the draw.

Southgate surely has to go but wouldnt be surprised the FA give him another 2 years to the next WC…in which case it aint coming home anytime soon even with the best crop of talent on the planet.

    southgate out NOW

Will Wondergoals be hoisting the main sail on HMS piss the league again this year , after last seasons titanticesk voyage im guessing a more realistic evaluation of the Irons chances.

I think we’ll do well this season for what it’s worth. No clueless Jimmy Dean and a more fitter team. I obviously haven’t got a crystal ball, but I firmly believe that if we had a fitter team last year with a more clued up manager we would have gone up.

    Hope your right WGs ..

I know its early anf guesswork but whats your REALISTIC August points target anyone ???? .. 12/18 im going for.

Indeed rainy season blues and a few beer Chang but not enough to change my stance on Southgate ..more so in fact im still in shock and buzzin that Abo Eisa is now residing in Nong Bua Lum Phu and gonna be playing for my local club

Regardless as to how the next 1 or 2 games pan out im sticking to my opinion that Southgate needs to go AFTER this tournament concludes .. way to negative and tactically suspect (subs and formation ??) with the extraordinary array of talent at his disposal.

IF IF IF by some miracle England get tothe final and even win it it changes nothing .. Southgates legay will be one of success but one manufactured in such anegative and distorted fashion deriding all the mega talent he had on ofer .. many other decent managers would get way mor attqacking and winning from such extreme talent but Mr Southgate appears to have done it in such adepressing negative way it has turned many fans away from the national side .. in addition the cream of the current crop like Foden and Rice protecting Southgate makes me wanna pewk ..

Spain loads of suspensions so its a France v England Final .. 0-0 aet and take yer pick on pens

in loose or draw from now on

SOUTHGATE OUT ………is THE BEST RESULT EVER FOR OUR NATIONAL TEAM.

Who do you think are ‘bin dippers’?

Im assuming 414 refers to the apparent lack of any real quality with the current crop of talent on trial .. he may have a point as a mate of mine turned up at AAGP for some top soil and was ammediately taken on trial as cover for the constantly injured Law and Roberts .. suffice to say he declined as he has an allotment to take care of… and hes 63 years old.

Arrr squad size ??? the squad can be as big or small as necessary it all depends on

    Who controls , chooses signings?
how they are trained ,managed and instructed to play both positionaly n tactically
the players ability and mindset to perform.

So far IMO .. we are looking like a pretty average NLN bunch AT THE MOMENT ,, things may change my opinion in the next week or so but into July should be more activity.

Better performance by England but IMO still lacked that creative cutting edge still a win is a win and gotta take that.

All 5 penalty takers were excellent.

Holland in the semis and again too close to call … best team in the competition from the outset have been Spain but could France get to the final having not scored a goal in open play ???

    Whatever happens SOUTHGATE OUT

Well that was the week that was, 1 player in and 3 non players ‘really’ even then the player in will only be a bench warmer (hopefully). Imo they should have held back their marquee signings back.

Which Marquee signings were those AWG? Surely Max & Fish aren’t our idea of marquees now? They are bench players at best. Our most impressive signing thus far is the pie man from Hull.

Hang on a minute 414 .. no no no i wont have that !! we havent tried his pies yet..

I think our markee signing was Charlton long name .. i predict him to do well .

As per my earlier post re Abo Eisa joining Nong Bua Ptchaya in the TPL .. im fully expecting Paul Huest to be named their new manager in the coming days 5555555

Enjoyed the Germany Spain game .. plenty of action tho Kroos should not have been on the pitch much after 20mins .. im sure that handball not given penalty will be mentioned a fair bit as the ball clearly hit the fuzzy haired lads hand but no VAR even ???

As for France v Portugal watched first half and it was nailed on for pens so went to bed .. CR7 at 39 and Pepe at 41 seeing what has to be their final international hooray.

Big game tonight Eng v Swiss too close to call … with most “expert pundits” including Mark Goldbridge (enjoy his watchalongs when cant get the game)predicting an England win… IMO all depends witch England turn up and im less optimistic and think the Swiss could well beat us especially if we score first n sit back as usual (Spain did the same N IT NEARLY COST THEM)

    A tight 2-1 ..either way

Holland Turkey .. 2-0 AET to the Dutch

Butterfield irreplaceable, what a joke.We have had far better players at a higher level level and often replaced them ,so a guy who faded in NLN is more than replaceable

Back in the glory days maybe 64. At NLN we won’t get anyone anywhere near his quality. Have you seen the shower we’ve got on trial?

Rumours circulating that Silva was joining the Iron on trial .. BRILLIANT i was buzzing until i saw it was Long John Silva, .. ill get mi coat again !!

Hang on a mo ..even he might make the bench way the squads shaping up.

Just a bit of fun gents ..as was just watching ze Jermans get knocked out of Euro 24 ..
