My main concern is still goals; I have little faith in Nuttall from what I’ve seen so far and Hill’s latest interview seems to be painting Carver as more of a target man
If Carver’s a target man, what does that make Nuttall?
Thing about radio interviews is do you what a factual one based on what he genuinely feels about the team on the day given the situation the club was in last season or do you want a load of bull poop based on fantasy just to make you all feel a bit better as a supporter
The latter – after yet another defeat, something to cling to would be nice! Adkins-stylee.
I don’t know where you get that Dewhurst is a downgrade from Watson from. Only worry for is if he picks up an injury and young Foster is left as back up.
Lot less experienced, don’t think he’s played at this level before, still quite young. He might be better, he might be worse, we shall see.
Ferrite you’re without doubt one of the most pessimistic, negative fans on this forum…we went through this last week. Can’t you for once just try and be a little more positive with your out look ?
Do you know what “playing devil’s advocate” means?

Good point about late arrivals – could end up being a slow start.
I don’t think for a moment that Swann will sack him but a new owner may want a change of direction and the slow start would be the perfect excuse. A bit like when Laws was sacked not long after Swann arrived. Time will tell!
Got to say what I have seen of Dewhurst he is as good as if not better then Rory, he definitely commands his area better the Rory, The fitness of some players is still a big question mark especially Hallam.
That’s encouraging to hear, let’s hope it proves to be the case over the course of the season.
Frankly, I believe that he’s done as well as any manager could have done given the financial constraints upon him in the close season.
He has intelligently got a shedload of youngsters prepared and ready to pitch into the team if required as backup.I don’t entirely agree with your assessment of last season but what I would like to see, or rather hear, is some more positivity from him off the pitch – rather than his endless downbeat interviews, telling us to adjust our expectations and so on. Give us something to get excited about!
That said, I do think he needs a good start, rightly or wrongly, especially if there is a change of ownership: with such a terrible record from last season, I’m not sure he can survive say 4 or 5 defeats from the first 7 or 8 games.
To play devil’s advocate, you could look at things like this:
– Young, inexperienced keeper, probably a downgrade on Watson of last season
– Boyce released by a club which finished just above relegation positions
– Butterfield the star signing not played much regular football in several seasons.
– A strike force with no track record to speak of at this level.
– Key midfield positions to be occupied by Hallam, Beestin & Feeney, all of whom have question marks over them. It’s definitely better than the position we were in at the end of May but I’m not sure yet that there is enough there to get us much higher than 18th. I hope you’re right though!

up to now Lee has been doing or trying things that Swann hasn’t done, and seems to have got Twitterites on his side at the moment.
He seems to be trying to implement some of the ideas which people have been clamouring for for years. Hopefully if there is a change in ownership, there will be some more money to support these initiatives.
Agreed – doubt us getting a small cut is anywhere near the top of the list in Grimsby’s considerations
Also, it’s more about Luton’s decision than Grimsby’s I reckon.
I took my then girlfriend, now wife, to Luton on Valentine’s Day one year. We won 3-2. No idea how I managed to swing that one to be honest.

As he’s out of contract next summer, Luton are basically getting him then for a small fee compared to what they’d have to pay now. Secure a future signing – no risk of losing out in a later bidding war if he has a good season. What’s fishy about that?
Bit risky having young Foster as back up.
Isn’t he only a year or two younger than our loanee number 1?
What a shame we’re not going to be the ones getting that fee – if we’d not sacked Hurst, every chance we would still be in the Football League with McAtee scoring regularly and Town would still be in the Conference.

It’s meant to have been written off from a club point of view but like a lot of Swanns rhetoric I don’t necessarily believe it and your right WG, somebody will have to pay it off it isn’t going to disappear on it’s own.
It’s documented as having been so in the most recently available accounts. See page 25 – item 16.
No League Cup this year either, of course.
Hillbuilds team now and they need to start performing,
Why do you keep adding extra letters to Hill’s name?
Invest in the club in a way that, when they leave, there will be something positive to show for it.

Interesting, Neil Wright’s tweets are protected, so only certain people can see them.
Mark Sertori!
I see Chris Porter has signed for Oldham, at the ripe old age of 38. That’s the type of player we need up front, but I’m sure it’s not for the lack of trying on Keith’s part that it hasn’t happened yet.
Not sure an immobile goal-shy forward is entirely what we need!

How did Lincs county council shaft Swann? serious question as I’m late to the party with the madness of it all.
Plenty of reading here, basically there were disputes about delays with the Lincolnshire Lakes project, which the new ground would have been part of, and then the planning process for the GP redevelopment.

Scrimshaw wouldn’t be the worst option for the Conference, is he still at Bournemouth?

I genuinely think Nuttall will get into double figures this season – key for a lot of our players is getting a bit of confidence which will come with some decent performances, and something we were hugely lacking over the last couple of seasons.
10 goals is not much of a stretch target but I guess it’s something after last week. Will need plenty of other contributions if our main striker only gets 10.
There are always those who will hang onto old prejudices.
There are frequently supporters who will rarely give credit to a player that they have already pre-decided is a dud – even when he has given a 7+ out of ten performance. But isn’t Taft’s trajectory with the Iron the exact opposite of that? Started very well and has steadily deteriorated since.
I think we’d seen the best of Madden by that stage, selling him wasn’t a terrible mistake. Did we replace him though?
Would have delayed the inevitable by another year.
Look where our first opponents of the NL season have been during the past ten years.
So you don’t think a promotion that season would have made things worse?
The questions may be short but man is there some scope to answer at length when it comes to this club!
‘it’s not easy’ that’s all he says about everything – the fans, the flats, the road, the players
My favourite quote was ‘don’t you dare put me in the mould of Fenty’ and then he went on to say he’s put 20mil in (which I don’t know if is true)
Seems a shame if he has and you haven’t anything to show for it in regards to the infrastructure of the club, apart from ‘chip van’ he started to go on about – is it any good? And yet in the first place, everything seemed so straightforward.
Not sure about the “chip van” but the ice cream van was an external supplier.
They’re back there this season and by all accounts could be competitive. Don’t know how they’re managing that though.
Google: who owns AFC Bournemouth?
Maxim Victorovich Demin (born October 1969) is a Russian businessman. In 2011, Demin became co-owner of then Football League side A.F.C. Bournemouth with Eddie Mitchell, reportedly paying £850,000 for his share of the club. Subsequently in 2015 the club were promoted to the Premier League. In 2015, he sold a 25% share in the club to Peak 6 Investments, although he remains the majority shareholder.
Demin has been involved in the petrochemicals industry and as a trader.
Truly fairytale stuff!
