I don’t understand why Evans isn’t in the side from the off.

Think last season he would have been first on the team sheet. He may well have not been fully match fit for the first game but as we have now won 2 with clean sheets, and 2 of the back 3 selected having provided 2 goals and one assist + the added threat of his throw, Butler will find it difficult to accommodate him in the short term. (It’s a good problem to have though).

Yes – what actually unfolded was a 3-0 win with Whitehall getting one goal and one assist. I’m no Whitehall apologist but stats will be there after the memories.

Interesting thoughts on Whitehall – what we may be missing is what AB’s instructions to him were. A player that does as he’s asked is worth at least 2 who don’t/won’t. I’m (almost) sure he DIDN’T tell him to dick around for an hour or so (just to wind up Siderite) – then spring into action and latch onto a Fitz special and stick into the net. He may have been made aware that his most effective phase of the game will be in the last third/quarter, so don’t be too knackered then to lose your impact at that time. Not saying it’s the case – just a thought.

I think this season has signaled a departure from our previous ‘launches’. No more Aston Villa /West Ham ‘pseudo last season’s kits’, but a genuine attempt to stamp our own identity on the shirts. Credit to Kelme, as the 3rd kit must have provided a challenge probably unparalleled in the world of 6th tier kits. I think the launches have been super and can only hope now that supply will meet the overwhelming demand that is evident from the response on all media platforms. UTI.

Of course it may come down to just how good Brackley turn out to be. Their pre-season includes beating Chesham and Harborough – as well as losing to Quorn and Northampton Town. Hard to call, but assuming it may be our toughest away fixture and therefore planning for a draw to be a good result may not turn out to be the best approach..

Absolutely fantastic effort by all concerned. Beautifully crafted from concept to execution,Professional and very emotional to the extent that it should come with a trigger warning for some of us.

Not really bothered about the opponents but would like either the first or last game at home (preferably first) as last year they were both away.

First met John as he regularly visited my next door neighbour to ‘play trains’. Later he had the dubious pleasure of teaching me how to operate an overhead crane on the works,Spoke with him on many occasions at the ground and on the many away trips where he organised, served drinks and ran raffles during most of the journey. The embodiment of a true fan and his presence will be sorely missed during the season.RIP indeed Staffy.

Don’t play a full back in midfield. Clunan and Beestin big misses. Sembie-.Ferris is not a starter, yet. 4-4_2 today with Elliot starting.

A mark of the DREs contribution – especially throughout the second half was that the visiting keeper (Taylor) applauded them at the final whistle. Well done lads (and lasses)!

If I remember correctly Jack Cork did spend a while bench warming before his 34 appearances and 2 goals – seem to remember him being deployed at right back too on several occasions.

10 games to the end of his contract. Think only Levi would let a contract just run out with no pro active decisions – even with Ryan Mason stood in the wings. Must have alternatives in line but if Newcasle keep going then top 4 isn’t gonna happen. Kazakhstan in June anyone?

We’d have been astounded last week that there’d be 7 players of ANY standard willing to come here.

I suppose all those playing the ‘lack of experience’card would have been happy to have Keith Hill back.

Although Nelson has made a good fist of his interim role, now is not the time for sentiment. Trust in the new owner until he gives us real cause not to. He has indicated that new players will come in the next 2 weeks. United we stand. Up the Iron.

He did say our Club would be in a better position when he left than when he took over and also that he would give the stadium back at some point to our Club.

Aye – and Neville Chamberlain said ‘peace for our time’ – and he had a signed piece of paper to prove it!!

Dewhurst,Arblaster and Lavery possibly not the best.

Add O’Meara and Reeves and that completes the set.

Loved Perez, amazed nobody’s mentioned the keeper that turned out to be the best we ever had.

Think you’ll find 2 of us already have.

Seen most from Ken Jones til present day. All round confidence I would say Matt Gilks. Favourites were Joe Murphy (of his time, though I think he owed part of his golden boot to Crosby and Foster), Geoff Barnard – smiling through the thick and thin and who could forget Lionel Perez?

Twice – once to Grange Over Sands for a week at Easter to catch the Good Friday game in Morecambe (1-1 – Winnall), and again to Clyst St Mary in Devon to get within 50 miles of Plymouth (4-0 – Madden 2, Morris & Hopper )

My ‘mole’ assures me he was misinformed and the announcement will be made tomorrow. (I did say ‘tomorrow’ in the original post). If it isn’t then I will hang my head in shame forever more. If it is then I retain the right to crow for a short while.
