Twitter is alive with the sound of rumour tonight, sounds closer than it ever has been.

I have it on good information that the cash flow situation is serious and we do investment ASAP.

We were due a good loanee after some of the dross we’ve had lately and we struck lucky with Apter. No more from Middlesbrough please but Huddersfield and Forest have been good to us.

Unbelievably, Hackney is starting and scoring for Middlesbrough in the championship.

I think Blackpool and Apter will both want him to play at a higher level Cass, he’s well thought of at Blackpool and it sounds he’s part of their future first team plans.

No reason why they wouldn’t send us another promising youngster though; I know some people are against the loan system but for me, when it’s done correctly, it can benefit all parties.

He’s clearly head and shoulders above everyone else in our team. He’ll make the grade a division or 2 higher if he moves in January too.

Blackpool must be pleased with the development and that can only benefit us in the long term.

Although from the rumour mill it sounds like our fate could be decided off the field rather than on it.

    Pray 🙏 tell.

No money left in the kitty and nothing else will be invested by Swann, allegedly.

I don’t know how we are in this position because Swann stated we will be sustainable last year, therefore why is additional money needed regardless ?

Massive 3 points featuring 2 poor teams. Players need to take some confidence away from it and follow it with a win on Friday night.

Can’t answer that; But it’s not his choice to have 10 centre mids and no centre back cover.

For all his faults- and there are plenty- Swann didn’t head up recruitment this summer and send us into the season with a young, inexperienced GK and a criminal lack of cover in defence, nor has he set the team up with baffling formations and the inability to hold onto a lead.

Turnbull and co need to address the defence urgently instead of signing another centre mid to stick on the pile.

1 defeat in 7 league games and everyone wants the manager sacked again. Swann may be the biggest problem but we don’t help ourselves as fans.

I agree with the sentiment, but when the players don’t know what formation they are playing, it’s hard to stomach.

Read that this team shouldn’t in the bottom 4 a few times now, personally it looked destined relegation pre season.

Apter, Nuttall and Butterfield aside, the rest barely look up to this level.

    Keeper- not good enough
Taft- stick a pitch fork up his arse so he’s doing some good whilst out there.
Boyce- with another decent back he could get away with but looks exposed next to Taft.
O’Malley-seems to be regressing every game.
    Nthle- not good enough

Rowe- if played correctly should be good enough.
Beestin- never consistent enough for a full 90
Pugh- told he covers every blade of grass but never notice him on the pitch
Whitehouse- not fit. What’s happened ?
Daniel- not seen enough of him.

You can honestly watch a Sunday league game and have a good understanding on how both teams are set up and how they are trying to play. I leave Scunthorpe games with no clue on what formation we just played for 90 minutes.

Southend are in a similar position to us off the pitch and manage to field a much better side, same with so many other clubs

Swann is ultimately to blame but the players and Daws need to take some responsibility; it’s absolutely pathetic.

Reassuring to hear that Hodges and the commentator have no idea what formation we play too.

It’s not panic stations yet but with 4 going down you can soon be cut off; worryingly I actually think we are in a good form patch too and still not picking up wins.

Doesn’t seem to be any link between the fan director and the fans anymore.

Think the role is redundant and should be trialed when/if we ever get new owners.

The former player interviews were excellent also.

That’ll be me and Awaywego you’re getting at then, Alcy.

Sorry for attending the game and boring those who don’t go any more.

But hey! This is a fans forum after all. And yes, the football was nothing to get excited about.

What are your expectations for Southend?

Not getting at anyone, and not bored.
    Just disappointed.
I’d really have expected more anger.
    But no, Swanny has won.
We now expect so little that even s total disaster passes by with hardly a raised eyebrow.
The Cods gave Fenty a much harder time.
But on here we have windy moderators who prefer to post anti-tory drivel in non-football, then delete a post calling him out.🙄🙄🙄

Not strictly true. The Cods barely mustered a protest in 20 years of decline- and their fall was greater than ours.

Unfortunately we’ve probably missed the boat in terms of meaningful protest now; I’m disappointed that the Iron trust have not done more to help organise supporters.

    Can’t fault that at all.

It’s the financial reward more than anything; we are living hand to mouth and progressing to the next round could be the difference in keeping someone like Nuttall in January.

Be ridiculous if it’s not the strongest 11- whatever that is these days. We desperately need a win and more importantly the money.

If we didn’t stockpile centre mids we could afford a half decent experienced keeper.

Was a car crash formation wise. Ended up being a 3-4-3 for part of the games and we were completely overran in the middle.

Somehow we even allowed Cordner to masquerade as a false 9 for parts of the second half because no-one bothered tracking him when he kept bombing forward.

If Pugh had a yard of extra pace he’d be a Championship player.
He keeps it and passes it well – when others create options for him to make the pass.

No change from last year. Completely anonymous and a waste of a signing

He was out of his depth today. Even at 3-1 up we was all over the place formation wise. Butterfield and Beestin looked leggy and were overran.

Really worried after watching that 2nd half. You cannot keep having to score 2/3 goals to get a draw. Defence desperately needs sorting but we keep signing centre mids? Keeper is no better than Watson who got chastised last year for MOTM performances week in week out.

Good update from Turnbull and they continue to impress with the work going on behind the scenes.

If only Swann had the decision making skills to Employ someone like Turnbull or of a similar ilk when he first joined, his tenure could have been so much different.
