Down to the bare bones at the back for tomorrow. Starbuck and Horton still suspended because technically the Eastleigh game never happened, so the only fit defenders we now have are Boyce, Evans and Denton.

Will we go with those 3 in a back 3, or does someone come in as a makeshift right back in a back 4? Think we could really do with a right back being brought in as an emergency loan. Barrows is still a long way from returning, Rose is out for another 6-8 weeks and JB won’t be back any time soon after his injury on Tuesday.

Think the pattern has already well and truly emerged, every goal we’ve conceded this season in the league has been from a high ball (cross or throw) into the box…with the majority being to the back post.

Agree with Cass, JB won the header and their player came steaming into him. Very fine margins but was definitely late and would have been a foul in our favour. Very glad to hear that both players seem to be on the mend as the scene after the clash was quite disturbing and like nothing I’ve seen on a football pitch before.

JB was excellent at right back, Ewing is on another level compared to the rest. Thought Watson played well. ANOTHER goal conceded from a cross into the back post…definitely needs sorting out pronto (pretty sure that every goal we’ve conceded in the league this season has been from a high ball into the box).

Got a feeling we’ll just go with Jean at right back and stick with the same system. We’ve conceded a lot of our goals from crosses into the back post so don’t really see Scales as an option at full back.

    Back post again ffs!!

Guessing Howe can’t quite keep up with the fitness of full time football yet? Been one of our best performers and went off on 69 minutes on Saturday so a bit disappointed to see him on the bench.

As I expected, looks like Jean has slotted in at right back in a back 4.

Whitehall’s former stomping ground so hoping he can at least get one over his former club. First away game I can’t get to this season but I’ll go for a 1-1 draw, Whitehall with the goal.

For anyone saying it wasn’t a dive, go on the DAZN app, watch their highlights of the game and skip to 2 mins 38. It has a zoomed in slow motion replay of it and Starbuck 100% dives…didn’t even get touched. He didn’t appeal because he knew he made a mistake in trying to con the ref!

So frustrating, we were by the far the better team in the 2nd half until the sending off (couldn’t really tell from where I was stood but have now seen the slow motion replay on the DAZN highlights and Starbuck definitely dived…silly boy!).

Agree with iron64 above, having no outlet up front when down to 10 just invites constant pressure. Chadwick looked like he’d already run a bloody marathon as soon as he came on and didn’t get anywhere near closing anybody down.

They used to do single game/week packages until late last season when it changed to monthly. Don’t think there’s any other option other than to sign up for the year.

Looking at the upcoming fixtures a monthly pass ain’t too bad value as I think you’ll (legally) get to watch the Brackley, Eastleigh, Wealdstone (as it falls on a Premier League international break) and Boreham Wood games for £19.99.

One, and even that was questionable as his initial shot was saved and then ricocheted off his shin!

Ultimately strikers are judged on goals and one goal in 29 appearances (12 starts) just ain’t good enough. If he was providing plenty else to the team then fair enough, but he doesn’t. Carlton should lead the line if Whitehall is out.

By all accounts he was a left-back when he signed for Farsley Celtic in 2022, so not completely unaccustomed. Good shift though!

Butler’s comments don’t really bother me, and nobody is going to be staying away because of them. As Awaywego mentions he’s shown throughout his tenure that he’s clearly a prickly character who gets easily riled up whenever criticism heads his or his players way. If anyone who ever had anything negative to say online stayed away then we’d quickly be back down to the 1500 club.

But regarding that criticism, how/why is he seeing it unless he’s trawling through FB/X/Bru? It’s definitely not vocalised from the stands inside the stadium, so unless someone is trawling social media and creating a “criticism dosier” to feed back to him, then it’s pretty easy to just ignore SUFC related stuff on FB/X/Bru.

We sure do miss Whitehall when he’s not leading the line. Halifax had a bit of an injury crisis themselves and were playing Josh Hmami, a winger, at centre back and even with 11 men we couldn’t really capitalise on it with Beck up top.

Starbuck seems to have improved massively from last season. Didn’t think he’d be a long term option at right back but he’s proving that assumption wrong so far.

Completely agree, nobody wants the club to fail and to suggest otherwise is just dumb! I wonder if Michelle and the Board share his feelings and want every fan who has anything negative to say to stay home and stop putting their money into club.

Beck gets absolutely slaughtered by some on here, Banjo this, Banjo that, but for some reason that’s fine. Dare to say anything negative about Campbell (who had an OK game today…nothing more, nothing less, claimed a couple of high balls and didn’t have a save to make) and the same culprits cry.

Bigleftoe: I honestly don’t know if football’s the sport for you if that’s what you take from today’s game.

Guess that’s why I’ve already got my tickets for Brackley away next weekend end then.

It’s an historic observation, teams tend to do well against us when they go down to 10 men whilst we always struggle.

Yep, Campbell did OK today and seemed a bit more composed under high balls (I don’t think Halifax had a shot on target other than the goal though).

So frustrating to watch. Sutton go down to 10 men on Saturday and are literally all over us for the last 20 minutes of the game. We go down to 10 and can’t get out of our half! Only a matter of time before we’re behind if we carry on like this.

A bit like people not remembering our super striker played in most of the games in our bad patch when they were screaming for Butler’s head

You really do talk utter codswallop. He was out injured for a lot of those games and it also coincided with signing Beck and then playing a returning Whitehall as a bizarre no.10. His two goals off the bench away at Marine arguably ended that bad patch and saved our season.

Maybe it’s never mentioned because Fitz most certainly did not make a howler in the playoff final vs Chester. Just a thought like.

Any thoughts on the Roberts booking?

Can see why he got booked, there was contact but it was Roberts who caused it by dangling his leg out to try and fool the ref.

Well that was a crackin’ game but we didn’t half make hard work of it, real backs to the walls stuff for the last 20 minutes even with Sutton down to 10.

Campbell made a brilliant double save towards the end, so fair play to the lad for that, but a professional goalkeeper cannot be making a mistake that leads directly to a goal almost every game he plays. Every team will target him with high balls into the box so you’ve just got to hope and pray he’s a fast developer because that part of his game is currently Sunday league standard at best.

Sadly we have a goalkeeper who’s terrified of the football. How long do we have to accept a goalkeeper who’s costing a goal almost every game he plays. Feel sorry for the outfield 10 because other than that they’ve been playing very well!

You should be easily identifiable on the highlights BLT every time an opposition cross comes in:

Being able to come and take crosses/high balls into the box and take pressure off of your defenders is what separates the men from the boys in the goalkeeping world (pretty much a direct quote from Mark Bosnich on a recent Ben Foster podcast). We’re definitely stuck with a boy at the moment, just have to hope he develops into a man pretty soon otherwise we’re going to come under some serious pressure this season.

I’ll be at the game today and going for a 1-1.

Yep, basically the proposed £100k worth of ring fenced shares would have come out of Michelle’s personal holding, taking her below the percentage needed to have overall say on the board, so she declined (or something to that matter anyway). However she did go on to say they were in talks yesterday about renegotiating down to £25k worth of shares potentially being available.

Also, I’d like to know who was the genius that decided paying an £800 A MONTH subscription for a bloody washing machine was a good idea!?
