Well done SUFC, you have made a big attempt to rescue our dire situation, and I have got a lot of faith in Keith Hill, and we have slagged Swann off a real lot (with very good cause), but he has at last allowed the manager to make his own signings, we will not get top class players with the wage structure in place, but if Keith knows all about what these players can do, he gets my vote.
As well as getting new players into the club, he has maanaged to get rid of some of the dead wood we had, Hippo has had many chances but he would need a goal with a width of 20 yards to even hit it, Green must have taken my advice and signed for an athletics club, he will never make it at football. I am a bit sorry that Wood has gone back to Hull, I think it would have been a lot better for 6 match suspended Hackney to have been sent back. And the other two who left a few days ago where never going to play regular games. So some very late moves, but at least it was a shock to see that 3 more players signed today, and good luck that Keith can bring a winning team out of our much changed squad, and get our gates up into the 4,000 mark.
We still have a few poor players that obviously are clinging on to their contracts, which I don’t blame them for doing, and a few full time sick notes that were in the window when Cox and Swann junior were making their clown scouting recruitment trips, there again, they should never have been given their jobs.
One should never take for granted the option of supporting your chosen footy team and going to watch them on match days.. rain snow or blow through good times and bad, yes its always better whilst winning and competing at the toppa which ever league your club is in.
I followed Scunny home and away for years pre 2000 before left UK shores .. i can honestly say after 22 years away there are very few things i miss in Blighty..but going to watch the Iron is most definately one of them along with family , friends and proper fish n chips from a proper chippy (Scunny had plenty back then) , 7 hour time difference is a pain and thank the lord for tinternet so i can keep up to speed and watch “live” on line when available…i get my Scunny shirts sent over every year via a mate but IMO none of this compares to being at the ground and all that goes into a day at the footy , pre match pint , shitty pie n bovril at half time and the banter with the lads.only my opinion ans each to their own thats what makes the world go around.
Yes Ironfromafar I have supported them since 1951 when they joined League 3N, and also used to go to the reserve teams home matches when the 1st team were away, it used to have a set of letters on a billboard for half time scores, a guy used to hang numers on it. I used to get the Ubeique bus (excuse spelling) from Ashby, go to the game after a couple of bread buns from a shop near Britannia corner, and bus home after the game, games were enjoyable then with teams having five forwards, I also used to sit up and watch computer updates till 03-00 hrs in the morning in places like Borneo, Java, Egypt, West Papua etc, there were no i-follower those days and I even used to plan my home leave soas to see as many games as possible, but gave my season ticket up at the start of this season after being fed up watching a team under Cox, it must also have driven many Iron fans from attending GP.
I would think that the total cost was about 2d bus, 3d footy and a penny for 2 hot bread buns, a bit different nowadays, but just a bit of good news for you pal, you are certainly not missing much wherevewr you are, even saying that I never miss an i-follower game when ever they show them.

Burns confidence must be at a very low point, when he was replaced by Green. Commentators keep saying that Green has speed, but what the hell good is that when he cannot control a ball, pass a ball to one of our players, and has no clue regarding finishing off a move with a goal, he should look for an athletic team and forget football.

I feel that it is already too late to save our league status, just take a look at the table, we are now 7 points and a very bad goal difference from safety, and in the past six matches Oldham, Colchester and Barrow have taken 4 points each, which is not good, but Carlisle have taken 8 points, where as Scunthorpe have taken ZERO POINTS, what reason does anyone base their idea’s on that we can finish above TWO of these four teams?????, I would love to be wrong, but Swann has driven the club into this position by his terrible so called management of the past three years affairs.

Final score Scunny 2 Bristol 3, but it actually really tells a big lie, it could easily have been 0-6 until those last 5 minutes. Two brilliant saves once again by Watson, and many shots from Bristol went inches the wrong side of the Scunny woodwork, but as for work rate, the lads could not be faulted, as said so many times, they are not good enough.
WATSON—8 Another MOM award from myself, and still not been offered a new contract?
MATTERSON—-6–Had a better game than his other two, probably wants match practice.
ONARIASE–5—Forwards just strolled past him, his worse game I have seen him have.
TAFT—5–Far too many stray passes.
O,MALLEY—6—Good first half, must have been injured, why does he not take set plays?
PERRY–4—Not good enough and not involved with play, that is why we have no midfield.
ROWE—4—Also had a very poor game.
WOOD—6—Good play and then poor play, good cross for one of our goals.
BEESTIN–5–Obviously not fit, and too many loose passes to Bristol players.
BURNS—7—Ran his socks off, but not many passes to him, played well though.
HIPPOLYTE—4—Back to his worst again, he should spend a week training at Jacksons
farm, give him a bag of balls and let him take shots at double barn doors
for a full week, give him a bonus every time he hits them!REF—7–Most things right, but cannot see why that penalty was given, the ball was out
of play.MANAGER—7—Did what he could with this squad of players.
SUPPORTERS—9—To sit till the end of that game deserved a refund of sorts, spotted my
old empty season ticket seat, and all of my nearbye friends were also missing, don’t think there were 2,000 home fans present, what will it be like in the Natiobal League??These are my own ratings for the match, and may differ to some others views.

There have been murmurings of a gentlemen’s agreement made with Bristol so that he doesn’t play. Then again, this is Joey Barton we are talking about.
I really hope that this is not correct Matt, I would have thought that Scunthorpe would have insisted that Loft plays the full 90 mins in the agreement when he signed for them, SUFC should lodge a protest if he is not selected, and should appeal if he is not in their starting eleven.

I wonder if he can take a “penalty”, thats if we ever get into the penalty box and gain one!
Hope that he turns out to be OK, because we must have about eight players in the squad that are either never going to be good enough to even select, or are always out injured.

What ever players are selected for Tuesday, the team will consist of the squad the club have, it is not possible to form any team that is going to win matches.
The damage was done a year ago when Cox was kept on as manager by Swann for another ten months after proving that he was clueless, it is too late to sign any players that can change things, and Swann has no intention of letting Keith Hill do so.Colchester sacked their clueless manager last Wednesday, the result being a 0-3 away win on Saturday, their first win in eight games, Oldham the other team near us in the leaguer, sacked their clueless manager an hour after yesterdays match, now watch them start picking up points!, Swann kept our clueless manager on FOR SOME REASON, now just take a look at the League table and see where it has taken us to!!!!, yes we are 7 points adrift if you take the vast goal difference as an extra point, and we have also played an extra game!, this squad will be luckey to get 7 more points this season, so we are doomed of football league status, just face facts.

Didn’t we have a penalty saved?as a shot on target
Yes Pele, we did have a penalty saved, but do you really want to call it a shot on target, because he was not likely to have back healed it was he, although he might just as well have done!!!

Maybe we are not in such a bad position as we are thinking, there will be lots of cash when we start selling off the 160 appartments that are being built, does anyone know when the first batch will be completed, I haven’t been down to GP for over a year.

That was the worse 90 min commentary I have ever listened to, not basing it on the the guys doing it, but the Scunthorpe team were so out played, and never looked likely to gain any points from the game. For the second match on the trot, Scunny never had even one shot on target, that is over three hours plus some of the game that ptreceeded these two matches, it is it is worse than being pathetic, and relegation was sealed today, now six points adrift, a far worse goal difference, and played a game more than others.
Swann says that the club have no money to pay off the loan, does he need reminding that this loan plus the £12 million other loss are direct results of his management of the club, he cannot still blame Covid or that supporters need to attend games, there is no valid reason to attend matches just to leave feeling sick to the back teeth of what our club has turned out to be.
I still think that in my opinion, Swann has driven the club to the point of administration and bankcrucey, which would make the vast ammount of land that his own company have now claimed ownership of, will be the final outcome of this sad situation, keeping Cox on worked a treat.

We did get a good manager Awaywego, but it was 12 months too late!!!
And Newcastle still have their money and ground, we have lost ours by very bad management over the past six years.

Well guys it has all turned out to be the same as Mick said, he was the player signed last week, it seems very odd for it to be stated on todays transfer update, probably the BBC have been tied up with their mate Dominic Cummings, extracting a few more of his lies and topping up his bank account, and have fallen behind with the transfer news. Sorry for the error lads.
2 users thanked author for this post.
Don’t know about that Mick, but it is on todays transfer update, surely not a last weeks signing!!
Another loan player in today, a player from Wolves on loan till the end of season, sorry but no other details, but I am just hoping that it is not another teenager that has zero football league experience, we can have a team with lets say three youngsters, but cannot have a team containing seven or eight in the clubs present league position.
I fully agree Northubiron, but I think that you are looking on the bright side (if there is one), but mid February at the latest, we will not still be in with a chance lasting till mid March pal.
We are three points adrift of Colchester who also have a better goal difference and a game in hand.
I cannot see that “how ever many games Alcazar has attended this season” is any way what so ever to do with the present situation? He is probably like the missing 2,000 ex-supporters that have been sickened to witness the way that our once loved club have sunk during the past three years.
He is also correct in what he, others and myself have been saying all season, that with Cox being kept on, we are doomed, and after tonights results just take a look at the table:-
BARROW PLAYED 24——-POINTS 26
COLCHESTER PLAYED 24——-POPINTS 22
SCUNTHORPE PLAYED 25——-POINTS 19
OLDHAM PLAYED 24——-POINTS 18Well done Mr Swann, you have done wonders, and just a reminder, that Covid has also been present in the towns of the other twenty teams that are above us four in League Two!!
2 users thanked author for this post.
You guys can keep quoting player after player, but it boils down at the end of the day “that there are not enough good players in this squad that can form a team that can remain in the Football League.
Cox and the Swanns have assembled a very poor set of players that have very little skill, no ball control, simp;le passing of the ball, and the worst shooting or goal scoring that any SUFC team have ever had in my 70 years of supporting them!!!!!!
It is game over, and only Swann can alter the situation, but we all know that he will do nothing until it is too bloody late, which could be by the end of January the way it is going. His continual reference to Covid as an excuse has passed it’s sell by date, does he exect supporters to believe that this virus has only happened in Scunthorpe, what a load more of his crap!!!!

Ferrite—-When reading your post, it clearly is saying that the two records of Cox and Hill are about the same, so does this not suggest that you are pointing out that theere is no difference in the two managers!!!!!!, it certainly does to me.
At the end of the day it was Cox that brought in many of this rubbish, and Hill has not been given the go ahead because of this bloody embargo which was due to a loan from the FL, to fund money that Swann had foolishly overspent on top of the other £12 million.
And I say oncve more, no one could form a winning team out of this bunch, it is not possible, and we will be well behind survival by the end of February, probably before then.
Ferrite, you forgot to mention that Keith Hill is having to select his team from the same squad of players that Cox brought into the club, most of whome are not league two standard, he cannot select his team from new players because Swann maintains the Football Leeagues embargo.
Everyone can see that the fitness has improved vastly, but at the end of the day it is the same playing squad, and 80% of them are bloody rubbish, you can improve fitness, but basic skills have to be there in the first place, anyway Ferrite you will get your wish and the point you are trying to promote shortly, because I cannot see Hill being here still May!!!, I am sorry to say.
Maybe Cox will be brought back to suit you pal, because he will never get a job anywhere else, and he has experience of non-league football, he was assistant manager of a team in that league when Swann employed him, much to our horror.
1 user thanked author for this post.
If the club have any intention of paying off the loan, it wants paying NOW, and that would allow a fee to be paid for new players, it is pointless delaying payment, even by another week, we are drifting behind the other four relegation threatened teams and a points and games in hand gap is getting bigger each week we keep selecting from the present squad, most of our players are simply not good enough!
Either pay off this loan Mr Swann and work with Keith Hill on what is requirered to retain league status, by doing nothing, or just bringing in two or three teenage players with zero experience of league football is not the answer, and everyone knows it isn’t.
By doing nothing, added to the fact that Cox was kept as manager for twelve months too long.has driven many supporters away from attending this present shower, you say supporters should all come back, then give us reason for doing so, it is a simple fact of life, fans are not interested in watching the rubbish that they have endured over at least the past three years, you change it Mr Swann, and most supporters would be glad to return, but this present situation has been caused by yourself, and nothing that you have said has come to light, and you have taken our club from the brink of Cgampionship football to being bottom of league 2, with gates of 4,500 to 5,000 to the present 2,026 including away fans!!, YOU MUST TAKE ACTION TO CORRECT YOUR MISS-MANAGEMENT THAT HAS TAKEN US THUS.
And now you are back on the Forum UPTHEIRON99, we can do without your backing of Swann with your bullshit.

When I say “same old, same old” I meen Exeter 19 shots – 5 on target.
Scunthorpe 5 shots – 0 on target. No point saying much more!!
2 users thanked author for this post.
What is the point of paying off the loan?, if all that we bring in is young players that have never kicked a ball in any football league match!!!!, they will be like the present squad, “out of their depth”, we all know that we need a couple of experienced players, but who is going to come to Scunthorpe in iys present situation. The team lost again today, listening to Humberside radio, they got off very lightly at 2-0, and could easily have lost 4 or 5 nil. At the same time, we never looked like scoring, this seems to be the in thing nowadays, I think that it is time for fans to look eleswhere for their Saturday entertainment, simply because you are not going to get any at GP.
If like myself, you find it difficult to lose contact with the club, it might be the answer to do as myself, pay the £10 i-follower fee when the game is actually shown, or just listen to the radio, if it isn’t on there/ just face it,”you are not missing a lot”.
I am going for 4-0, the young new lad looked quick and got himself into a couple of good scoring positions, and did not get a lot of playing time, so he must be given a start, but we are still selecting a team from the squad that Cox assembled, so even with Keith Hill now in charge god help him with that lot.

January 14, 2022 at 4:05 pm in reply to: SWANNS Last Chance to Save Our Football League Status #221637All of the above is correct, there are no signs of any players coming into the club, yes they have signed a 19 year old that has never ever played in the football league. The club no longer have Loft, Scrimshaw or the keeper that have gone back to their clubs, so we are two players short of the pathetic squad we had before the transfer window, there is no talk regading any new moves for players, and the club still have players in their squad that are never ever going to be good enough or even good enough to be selected into our very poor twam, when I say “talk”, that would never be believed anyway if in came fronm Swann, he has spun possibly 20 of his mistruths already, and nothing he says is ever going to be swallowed again by all of us ex-attending supporters.
I am fully expecting that the next move will probably be the resignation of Keith Hill, I really do not think that he will hang about knowing that Peter Swann is just going to let the club die! but as bad as it sounds, I still believe that this could be part of the plan, the land that holds the ground, the car park and the practice pitch would be worth a lot of cash as a full sale, and there is still no valid other reason for keeping Cox as manager for a year too long, or is it just because Peter does not and is reluctant to sack managers!!!, it’s maybe not in his blood!!!!
All the fans can do is sit and wait and see if anything does forth, and then wait for the supporters to get the blame for not turning up to see and support the present day rubbish that we have put up with for 3 or 4 years, and of course the COVID issue, (only Scunthorpe had it).
EVEN UPTHEIRON99 has given up with his 100% support for Swann.

Altering the age of pensioners by 5 years, 65 instead of the old 60 years of age.
Keeping on Cox for a year too long.
Giving crocks extra term to their contracts.
Two years with no blue badge car park yellow line markings.Yes Iron-awe you could end up with a fair old lengthy list!!!

OK Awaywego—-It really does not come over much better than the original posting, I am still living at the present time pal, but I don’t think that you really meant what you said.
I would never ever attack a young supporter that has only supporte the club for a short time, the club certainly needs such fans, but to attack fans just because they are getting on in life is not good for anyone, surely you agree!!I consider myself as a true supporter what ever you say, surely after attending from day one in the football league in 1951, and actually going to every match possible ever since, obviously whilst working overseas this was not possible, but thinking back to times of sitting up till 03-00 in the morning in places like Borneo and East Java watching computer updates, made me a bit of a fan!!, but I fully respect any new supporter be it 6 years or 60 years of age, even if they are attending their first game. The two reasons I have not renewed my season ticket, firstly because of the rubbish unenjoyable so called football on offer under Cox, and secondly with being 80 now, it is not easy getting from the car park to my Cluggy Stand usual seat, and winter does not help a lot. Anyway you have your views Awaywego and I respect them, even if I do not agree when you assume you should slag people off for being old, but being an attending supporter for 70 years since lining up on Henderson Avenue aged 11 for my first ticket, surely you agree that I and many others are true SUFC fans.

Yes Cokeoven kid, the game I made reference to would have been in about 1961/1963 times.
My memory was bending down nine times to pick the ball our of the back of the net, I also remember that Ashby had a live wire up front called George Robinson, he scored at least 4 of the nine ha ha!
Went on the bus trip to Exeter when we lost 5-4 many moons ago!
Well Bill, there may be another 5 mate, but there certainly will not be a 4.
Who the f are you NLI to say who are true supporters, just because your old doesn’t mean your wise, my passion will never be diminished no matter what league we’re in, be thankful your in the winter stage of your life and won’t be round to be devastated for to long now, I feel sorry for my grandkids if it happens, not some old codger like you who’s seen the good times.
Awaywego—-That is a terrible piece that you have written on this forum, just because NLI is getting on inyears like myself and many other SUF supporters, does not deserve the disrespect that you have shown him, but it seems to be the in thing with one or two on here, I have had it drummed into me a few times by Iron-awe, when he says you havn’t much longer with us tic tock tic tock/ what a spineless statement to make, but I did not expect it from you Awaywego.
All NLI said was that he thinks that supporters should be strongly protesting regards the club heading into non league football, whilt you are slagging him off and saying that it doesn’t matter a toss to you, what league we are playing in. Please note that NLI has got 5 “THANKS”, whilst you have “ZERO THANKS” for your disrespectful comments, not even a THANKS from the FORUM SIX.
Age is like death Awaywego, it cannot be avoided mate, so please rethink before you repeat a statement like that pal, I am sure that you did not really mean what you said, and I fully understand NLI putting eactly what he stated, many others and myself fully agree with him, because Mr Swann has constantly stated what he would do, but not one single thing has come true, and I feel stupid for giving him my full backing for over 5 bloody years, but at the end of the day our club have:-
NO NEW GROUND.
NO REFURBISHMENT OF GP.
NO 160 APARTMENTS.
A DEBT OF OVER £12 MILLION POUNDS.
PLUS ANOTHER FA LOAN OF 1 OR 1.5 MILLION POUNDS WHICH HAVE RESULTED IN A LEAGUE EMBARGO.
NO CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE OR EVEN LEAGUE 1 MEMBERSHIP.
NO LEAGUE STARDARD PLAYERS OR TEAM.
NO 4,000 SUPPORTERS AT MATCHES.
NO LONGER OWN OUR OWN GROUND (ITS RETURN TO THE CLUB WILL PROBABLY THE LAST FAILED DEED).
NO FOOTBALL LEAGUE STATUS AFTER MAY 2022.
ALL THIS AFTER THREE WORST YEARS OF FOOTBALL EVER SERVED UP BY OUR ONCE GREAT LITTLE CLUB.4 users thanked author for this post.
