Yeah on reflection they should sack Butler and put the entire squad on the transfer list, bloody rubbish Iron bring back Hilton.

April 6, 2026 at 5:11 pm #318994Probably a slight overreaction to what was a troubling performance by the mostly second string side. Can’t imagine many wanting Butler’s head for it but would be nice to hit some form going into the playoffs rather than being slightly lickspittle over how we should be grateful to even be in this position.
April 6, 2026 at 5:14 pm #318995Overtones of attitudes in important cup games.
We are still in 5th but NOW FGR are breathing down our necks. We have opened the way for them. Made it easier.
Even Southend will be getting optimistic again.
It looked a seriously dodgy decision – almost failing to show Gateshead sufficient respect. They had a lot to play for.
Shouldn’t we have thought the same?
A number of players added to the side looked extremely ordinary.
Okay the penalty and sending off were the end of us BUT there could easily have been two more pens conceded.
It may sound ironic but I thought Barrows looked as good as I’ve seen him this season.1 user thanked author for this post.

It’s a longer ride coming back from Wembley when you’ve lost.
April 6, 2026 at 5:17 pm #318997I thought we played better when down to ten, bringing on the first teamers as well.
April 6, 2026 at 5:20 pm #318999He’s arrogant (nothing wrong with that) stubborn plenty wrong with that, and is bloody clueless a lot of the time.
Ffs why bring the subs on when down to ten men losing 2-0 the games gone, you’ve rested the players just keep them rested bloody useless and clueless, then defend it in your interview, I’m the boss, what do you know, f off, we’re in the playoffs aren’t we, it’s just a blip.
Or maybe I’m very sorry fans i completely f that up.3 users thanked author for this post.
April 6, 2026 at 5:23 pm #319000just listened to Butlers post match HR radio interview and this guy is delusional .. rotating players for fitness , such an awful performance yet all AB does is talk shite .. no apology for the fans who paid hard earned money to travel and watch that .. surely he should have told fans not to bother as it was a practice game.
Results going well elsewhere and a real chance missed but seemed like watter off a ducks back … Butler shows his distain for Scunny fans unless they shower him with praise.2 users thanked author for this post.

Were you looking in a mirror Awaywego when you wrote this paragraph 🤔
April 6, 2026 at 5:32 pm #319003I’m going to have to stop listening to his interviews.

This has to be his worst post match interview this season.

It’s a longer ride coming back from Wembley when you’ve lost.
been there and done it, only highlight today was the save from Barrows, nobody looked interested
April 6, 2026 at 6:13 pm #319006Am I right in thinking whoever plays home in the quarter finals takes the gate receipts?
April 6, 2026 at 6:28 pm #319007No, it’s shared after expenses, Michelle’s relying on those funds to bring the debt down perhaps she should tell Butler how important an home game is. Hardly likely to get 50p if it’s an away game after the hotel bill and a 2 day coach hire plus policing and the match officials.
No money either in the final if it’s the same as Nln divided up amongst all the clubs.
Home games a must for her.April 6, 2026 at 6:58 pm #319008If it’s shared gate receipts i guess a home tie is less important but take your point about expenses. Though possibly one day coach hire? Still, a home tie is better obviously.
April 6, 2026 at 7:05 pm #319009I’ve just listened to his interview, “what do you say to the fans that spent money to come and watch today” pause stutter I put out a team to represent them!
Fans don’t spend hard earned money for a team just to represent them.
Fans want him to put out a team capable of winning, and none of his tinkering teams have been.5 users thanked author for this post.
April 6, 2026 at 7:10 pm #319010Ollie asked him that twice. And rightly so. As I said before, I feel for the travelling fans. What a waste of time and money.

April 6, 2026 at 7:19 pm #319011Just got back. Butler and his team should be apologising for that exceptionally poor performance. Waste of a day.

April 6, 2026 at 7:55 pm #319013Need to be careful Southend are starting a run and could be playing us in the play offs
Do you think we will win.April 6, 2026 at 7:59 pm #319014Mk have you ever had a manager like Butler who’s made you consider is it worth travelling away, I missed quite a few last season that would have normally being a given.
I’ve Been very selective this season, wouldn’t be going to Wealdstone if we hadn’t booked 3 months back.April 6, 2026 at 8:36 pm #319015Yeah on reflection they should sack Butler and put the entire squad on the transfer list, bloody rubbish Iron bring back Hilton.
Apart from sacking Butler this cocky tongue in cheek post hits the nail on the head if we get promoted
April 6, 2026 at 8:40 pm #319016To be fair Awaywego the only shocking away performances that I have travelled to this season have been Solihull and today.
Last season I could have given you 6 or 8. Don’t have a problem giving up a day and a wadge of cash to see my team lose. Supporting the Iron for 60 years I’ve witnessed more away defeats than wins.
I do have a problem when we don’t even compete. Will certainly be giving Wealdstone a miss.1 user thanked author for this post.
April 6, 2026 at 8:49 pm #319017Not picking on just one player because poor was the best level any Iron player reached today but I am absolutely gobsmacked at how poorly Smith has played since his return.
He left here a player that looked a minimum couple of steps above NLN level. He has returned looking like he’s never played before.
I know Smith is a very common name. Are we sure they sent us the right one?2 users thanked author for this post.
April 6, 2026 at 9:58 pm #319019Three generations of Northumbiron in attendance today. Luckily for new grandson he slept through most of it.
Totally selfish on my point but this was the only game we could get to as a family this season, so to say it was a disappointing afternoon is an understatement.
Okay shuffle the pack a bit, but even though we’re guaranteed a playoff spot there’s still work to do. Carlisle, Forest Green and Boreham Wood all dropped points today, so another away win would have put us in a really good position to get that third or fourth place.
So from a personal point of view this wasn’t a day to experiment. No real tactics on display, anonymous performances, poor passing, sloppy defending, no real attempts on goal until we were 2-0 down.
Away support magnificent once again. Deserved better.
Yeah a bloody awful afternoon, but that’s Gateshead International Stadium for you!

April 6, 2026 at 11:21 pm #319022I’ve deliberately not listened to the after match interviews as I’ve a fair idea what will have been said. Did he give any rationale behind bringing Pat Jones on at RB when were were 2-0 down?
April 7, 2026 at 4:30 am #319023Need to be careful Southend are starting a run and could be playing us in the play offs
Do you think we will win.No
April 7, 2026 at 6:24 am #319026We are not setting up to win promotion. I want to be proved wrong about this but, at the moment, I feel it highly improbable that we’ll get past the first game.
February was unmitigatedly awful! Yesterday was very reminiscent of that sad period.
Player confidence must be at car crash levels.
Come on lads! Let’s progress. Fans know how good you really can be!1 user thanked author for this post.
April 7, 2026 at 7:34 am #319027I’m going to have to stop listening to his interviews.
I stopped about a year ago.
April 7, 2026 at 7:49 am #319028So obvious it was about resting players rather than giving others more game time, just like premier league clubs treat the fa cup in the earlier rounds, managers all say the same thing squad rotation, completely forgetting the travelling fans paying good money in expectation about their team doing well, treated badly, let down not saying before the game, I’m going to use squad rotation or I’ve got a few niggling injuries so I will not say anything, treating fans with contempt we are professionals what could us fans possibly know,we know bull when we here it,just like when all the international players drop out of squads then make a miracle recovery for thier next club match!

April 7, 2026 at 9:04 am #319029Two truly terrible away performances this season – Solihull Moors and Gateshead. The latter the worst by a country mile.
