Interim boss Tony Daws has confirmed that defender Kgosi Ntlhe will be unavailable for this weekend’s National League clash with struggling Maidstone United and is likely to miss up to six weeks of action with a hamstring injury.
Ntlhe, who has been a mainstay in the Iron’s defence in recent weeks, pulled up during the first half of the Iron’s 3-1 defeat to Wrexham on Wednesday and is now set for a spell on the sidelines.
Daws said: “Kgosi has a hamstring tear so that’s going to keep him out. The medical team have told me it’ll be between four and six weeks, which I think is standard for hamstring injuries.
“It all depends how that reacts and how he rehabilitates from that. Kgosi is a blow and a loss for us as he’s a great lad and infectious for us around the changing room and training pitch. I’m disappointed that we’re going to lose him but that’s how it goes and it presents an opportunity for someone else to take a chance.”
Daws also confirmed the weekend’s clash with strugglers Maidstone is likely to come too early for full back Reagan Ogle to play a part.
“He’s made good progress but this weekend is looking a little bit too close for him. Fingers crossed, he might be back next week.
“It’s challenging because you have lost two key players and two experienced players. We are better with them in the side but it throws up opportunities and chances for other people to step in. It might need a bit of a reshuffle”.
