SAD about Rochdale n Torquay hoping deals can be done to save them

Players will be put up for sale or released from Torquay and with them top of the Southern League.

Potential good players for cheap ?

Think you’ll find Yeovil are top of the Southern League WG and Torquay are 11th, not sure how much quality they will have but maybe a couple or so players may fit our bill.

I agree with JI that the choice for Americans between Biden and Trump is a bleak one, although the economy recovery under Biden and the job creation in particular has been impressive, his age and apparent infirmity on occasion go against him. Trump at 77, 78 in June, has also been making several speech gaffs of late calling his cognitive competence into question. However since the last election Trump is now a convicted sexual predator, has been found guilty of defamation and guilty of business fraud, all of which beggars the question is this man fit to lead the USA? The fines he has received have been staggering but the facts in all his criminal cases to date have been proven from a point of law, whereas most of Trump’s rebuttals legally have found to be worthless. Now compare that with the amount of conspiracy theory and lack of evidence that is the hallmark of a large part of Trump’s speeches on the current campaign trail leading up to the 2024 USA election. He is constantly fact checked and found to be lying constantly but of course he will continue to get massive media coverage right up to the last vote being counted in November. I personally think he is just digging himself into a deeper hole with every lie he tells and of course there are more legal woes facing him down the line. It’s all a very bleak looking outcome for the American people IMO, they need younger and more truthful candidates to be running in the Presidential race but unfortunately there isn’t any. Nikki Haley will lose eventually in the Republican nomination race and the USA will be heading for more election misery.

Just seen Alfreton manager Heath YT vid summing up the game .. this fella needs a reality check he is deluded ..gushing how magnificent n fantastic they played whilst obviously forgetting the time wasting tactis from.the first whistle n ther keeper faining injury every time the Iron vit up a head if steam .. hiw sweet was that 95th minute winner in time added for time wasting ..

Yeah he also said they had no injury worries for their forthcoming game on Tuesday so I guess the really injured keeper must have an excellent recovery regime in place. Heath seemed to think his team were superb, I thought they were a bunch of time wasting, rough housing cheating bums but hey it’s all about opinions.

Well Clunan came off with what appeared to be a thigh injury and if it’s similar to the one that kept him out for over 6 weeks earlier this season then Fin, Pugh and Beestin will probably get more game time playing for us than they reckoned on.

Agreed but much better second half and a deserved late win courtesy of Will Evans massive header. Ref was truly appalling but it’s nice to see a team that comes to spoil, roughhouse and feign injury to waste time get beat late on, makes it seem all a lot sweeter. UTI

I wish Whitehall would show just a quarter of Haaland aggression, bloody hell that Norwegian guy is an absolute beast, he missed a couple of easy chances by his standards last week, wonder who’s gonna get the backlash from that, he doesn’t miss many.

I remember when Millwall came in the second leg of the playoff semi final and won 3-2, it was all long ball and aggressive play that won the game, Morison was a proper handful that night and his midfield service from deep provided plenty of long ball ammo.

Catch 22, do you unilaterally disarm your nuclear weapons and risk being overrun in the future by larger superior land, air and sea forces from bigger nations, or hang on to a deterrent you will most likely never use? It’s not an easy one to answer but all nations with nuclear weapons, ourselves included, know that once a long range warhead is launched in anger towards another similar armed nation it’s pretty much game over for mankind. The destructive power of modern day nuclear weapons is mind blowingly scary compared to Hiroshima in 1945.

Surely a mixture of styles is the hallmark of a good side?, many commentators wax lyrical over Man City’s style of passing football and possession but when De Bruyne knocks a 50 yard through ball for a rampaging Haaland to run onto it’s still a long ball, despite it being called an exquisite pass on MOTD. I would certainly like to see a more aggressive style in midfield and balls being knocked into channels for Elliot to chase aswell as Roberts ( when fit ) intricate tricky wing play being used. As was mentioned we need more balls consistently into the box and aggression shown to get on the end of them and convert them into goals

Very nervy interview after the game, he was in super scratch mode which tells me he’s starting to feel the pressure now. Desperately sorry for the guy because his heart and intentions are brilliant but there is something missing with this squad of players and he’s struggling to work out what it is, Saturday could be pivotal.

    Alfreton will beat us Saturday.

Get Torpey in with Butler assistant.

    That’s an extra wage, though.

Not if the assistant goes too.

Bookies prey on people. People lose billions of pounds each year and those sums go to the bookies and their shareholders. As a generalisation, the rich get richer and …!

You could say the same about HMRC.

Difference is that with HMRC most people don’t have a choice when it comes to paying out and you know it’s coming, with the bookies the choice is entirely voluntary when it comes to having a punt.

We will stumble in to the play-offs if Jimbob remains in charge… but, we won’t win them.

Don’t need a comma after but Rene, keep your standards up mate.

There’s a protracted pause after the ‘but’… the comma was used to try and express that.

You could start a new trend in English writing, how about (pp) after the but?

I’d be surprised if Dean went till the end of the season no matter where we finish in the league. It was never going to be as easy as some made out, once on the slippery slope it takes awhile to regain your feet and we’ve been on that slope 6 years and counting. We still have a club that’s the main thing, long haul patience required.

Things must turn soon you would imagine, we can’t keep playing like this till the end of the season and in today’s case an away point is perfectly acceptable IMO.
