The replay would have been down to 2 per side if it was played with the rules and refs today. Leeds were a strong rough team with a very dodge keeper Sprake. They would have won the game with a decent goalie.

Part of the non excitement, putting aside our dreadful results, is that you can watch higher quality football on TV virtually every day, and sometimes all day, of the year.

Apart from highlights at the weekend or on one midweek night, the only way to watch live football was to go to the ground. Used to look forward to it for days before the game.

The BBC match day page is an improvement on ceefax. But I have come to dread the text coming up “Scunthorpe have won a corner”.

For the last 3 years it is almost guaranteed to be followed one minute later by “opposition team name have scored”.

Memories of the Donny Road end getting excited with “ooh it’s a corner”, now it’s something to be very worried about!

“snide, and often downright nasty, comments”.

Just stating the facts Alcy. And you should be the last person on this forum to complain about “snide and downright nasty comments”.

“Who are you to say I should be cancelled, removed, booted off, because you dont like my posts?”

You are right, who am I to say when you make such a strong case on your own.

    “And grow up”.

Says the man who for 2 months spent his time uploading dodgy videos off YouTube to shut the forum.

It’s a frigging forum. People have different opinions. There is no such thing as an “average user”!

Posting multiple repetitive videos with no discussion adds zero balance. It’s spam.

When will Alcy realise that it’s not unusual to find that at least 6 football supporters who grew up in the steel town of Scunthorpe in the 60s, 70s and 80s are also supporters of the Labour party.

Neither is it unusual to find more than 6 Iron supporters and forum members from the same background who don’t support the Labour party.

The forum is free for all to comment. Just because you don’t agree with some of the posts, is not a reason to spam with the purpose of closing it down.

Hopefully the mods will deal with you if you do it again and quickly boot you off!

Remind us what your ambition for the club was that 3 seasons in Tier 2 football was not good enough?

    14 matches, 12 starts, 0 goals, 0 assists.

Stats don’t mean everything, especially when he’s playing in such a crap team, but if he does have the requisite skills they have not produced anything so far.

The selection chaos you refer to is more of a case that players like Davis, Millen and Kenyon are out of the team because they were crap signings and because of performances when they were picked.

Green has been poor for the majority of matches. He did OK at right back for one game, but then struggled in the next game. Confirmed last night that Beestin has long covid. I think Jarvis is injured.

Hill was very critical of the defence last night. He didn’t name him, but was not happy about Taft giving the penalty away. We need another centre back.

Bucks and Alcy. Needy 1 and Needy 2. So Alcy’s new persona is Mister Whiter and Whiter, the hero protector of the forum, the man who has never hurled abuse at any other poster. Victim 1 and Victim 2.

“Relegation is nothing to do with business strategy”.

Does making such a stupid statement come naturally to you?

So the top teams expecting to qualify for the Champions League and Newcastle’s new owners desperate to avoid relegation, is not part of their business strategy?

Having a crap team without any real saleable assets is not linked to a crap business strategy? Losing matches and decreasing revenue is not linked to a crap business strategy?

Is winding down the team and the football club the owner’s business strategy?

“Any bets on how long one of mine from GBN would last”.

Why stop at one video Alcy, when 20 per day is the norm. “One of mine?”. None of them were yours!!

One highlight of the 1981-1982 was the 2v1 home win against Sheffield United. Yet another day when the town and ground was under siege.

Checked the results after that game. 2 wins out of the last 19 games after that win. Similar run of form to this team.

We played Leicester in a pre-season friendly in 1969. Got into the ground early and there were loads of them running all over the place. Seem to remember watching from the corner at that game.

    “Discussion is not allowed”.

Discussion was allowed! Posting racist, homophobic hate speech from multiple youtube videos every day should would never have been allowed and showed no respect for the forum owner.

Surprised it continued as long as it did. Particularly when the 2 individuals posting the videos did not engage in any discussion after putting the videos up.

“Beestin, Hippolyte and Hackney in CM, that’s pretty solid at this level.

Kenyon will do ok in DCM”.

You keep posting crap like this.

Whichever group of 11 players are picked or formation chosen, the last 2 seasons have shown that we are NOT OK or pretty solid at this level!

“Ah yes he’ll be able to identify a currently unknown pool of quality players all desperate to play for SUFC”.

That’s the point UTI. When Swann started at the club a pool of quality players did want to play for the club and they did.

You are right that it’s very unlikely that any established league standard player would want to sign for us. Even Loft thought he was too good for us!!!

This is the result of Swann’s time at the club. It’s a NO!

It’s a bit half and half. Hill made it a priority, which I understand, to improve the fitness of the players who, under Cox, were knackered after 30 minutes.

I would agree that Kenyon and Beestin should be in the team, but is Hill leaving them out because he thinks they haven’t responded to his training methods?

He has praised Pugh for his efforts, but he definitely could do with a spell out the team.

Millen should never have been signed along with a lot of the others. Green is not good enough in any position. We need a right back!!!
