How about answering the question about the mystery owner with a magic formula that will result in SUFC never losing another game or having to endure a relegation battle?

So says the poster who disappears for weeks/months when asked questions he can’t answer.

I don’t want a mystery owner with magic formula just one who knows how to run a football club.

Ah yes he’ll be able to identify a currently unknown pool of quality players all desperate to play for SUFC.

There’s the problem – he/his young son/you shouldn’t be in charge of recruitment. Its clear the HoR met with his mate the agent who sold him several no-marks who are not league standard. Kelsey Mooney was given a 1yr contract after a golf match he didn’t even play in (I assume Swann lost the bet), KDT? Permacrock Hallam given a 2 yr contract?

We wouldn’t be in this position if recruitment was done by people who know about football. But that is only one of many failings.

I will agree that attracting quality players given our predicament will be very difficult – nigh on impossible with the current recruiting regime

So just to clarify, any club in the lower half of their respective division needs to change their owner and recruitment team?

Ah yes he’ll be able to identify a currently unknown pool of quality players all desperate to play for SUFC.

We seemed to find a way of doing this back in the days when the club was run as a hobby.

So just to clarify, any club in the lower half of their respective division needs to change their owner and recruitment team?

Lower half? Bottom two? Maybe, if the club has reasonable expectations of being higher. If any organisation is failing to achieve reasonable results, it should be looking at changing the way it does things. I would have thought that was obvious.

I don’t think there is an expectation amongst anyone on this board that there must be a queue of kind hearted millionaires looking to buy the club nor is there an expectation that we have a given right to be even moderately successful.

But, the argument above from 99 seems to be akin to ‘better the devil you know’ which in this case is flawed.

This isn’t about funding, this is about bad decision making.

Football club ownership is voluntary. No one forced Peter Swann into Scunthorpe.

No one forced him to choose us over Lincoln City who he was also talking to.

No one forced him to explode the playing budget with a series of early high profile signings that he knew we had no prospect of funding without his continued bankrolling of the show. Note use of the word ‘continuing’ there.

If he didn’t know the future implications of his actions at that fine then more fool him.

No one forced him to make multiple share issues and certainly no one forced him to end up hocking the ground to the parent company to pay for his own past decisions.

No one forced him to make a series of promises relating to the club and the ground.

We now have what is surely the smallest budget in the league but yet we are not the smallest club.

There are some sides in league 2 who will still be behind us in terms of income and numerous more who are comparable.

We have seen, over the last 4 seasons, a systematic dismantling of the club through bad decision making and a now apparent ‘wash my hands of the whole affair’ attitude – snd that is why we are where we are – not because we aren’t run by a multi millionaire who is happy to pump cash in.

There are lots of similar sized clubs above us in the pyramid who don’t have wealthy owners but survive to their means with quiet dignity (and avoid becoming a laughing stock).

There are times this season, for the first time in a long time, that I’ve been genuinely embarrassed watching us.

Swann takes the credit for that so in this case ‘better the devil you know’ doesn’t apply.

I’d take virtually anyone at this time – millionaire or not – as long as they have the best interests of the club at heart.

He’s back defending the subject of his extreme devotion, I’m guessing UTI99 is in rather a low place now, even by his own low standards of expectation.

UTI could do a lot worse than take the bus down to Exeter and chat to their fans about how their club is run. He’ll be amazed that they consistently perform well in this division without a sugardaddy.

The same Exeter who probably have twice our budget and have spent the last 9 seasons in League 2?

The world “probably” is doing a lot of work in that sentence.

But if they do, good luck to them, as a fan-owned club, they’re proving what can be achieved.

They’ve also done well by developing young players, such as Ollie Watkins. I’m struggling to remember the last player who came through our youth system & we sold for money. Maybe Hakeeb?

Good to see family members showing some interest in the club. It’s been a while.

Message hasn’t changed though. We should tip our hats and be thankful for our sorry slide to the National League and beyond.

Couldn’t care less. I’d watch SUFC in Northern Counties so it’s irrelevant.
Football does exist outside the Premier League and EFL.

The thing that baffles me though I think that EFL clubs should have got more money for last season it is the club’s with the so called richest owners that took the loan, and if Peter Swann wants the club to stay in the league he should pay it back because he will have to at some stage soon, when Southend played Bromley a week or two ago the commentator said the EFL was asking for it back and it was going to hamper their January spending.

“Ah yes he’ll be able to identify a currently unknown pool of quality players all desperate to play for SUFC”.

That’s the point UTI. When Swann started at the club a pool of quality players did want to play for the club and they did.

You are right that it’s very unlikely that any established league standard player would want to sign for us. Even Loft thought he was too good for us!!!

This is the result of Swann’s time at the club. It’s a NO!

We won’t get relegated as I have posted before Swann will fold the club so he can start on his construction site when we finish bottom

But who aren’t currently staring at the trapdoor to non league, don’t currently have an owner hated by supporters, and aren’t a laughing stock.
