Seems to be a quid pro quo for moving the away game to Friday night as well:

50 points is another 27 required. In 17 games, that’s 1.6 points/game. It basically means winning just over half our remaining games: not an easy ask when you’ve won 5 all season. But if we build on the last few weeks, it’s not completely impossible.

Hmmm…. a player Barnet have let go after 6 months and who has played all his career down south (so it’s not like he’s leaving Barnet to be closer to home). Good luck to him, hopefully he’ll do well but it’s not the most exciting signing. Still, least it adds to the depth of the squad which is desperately needed.
All very well but there are plenty of dodgy owners who can prove the source of their wealth and who still shouldn’t be allowed to own clubs. We still need to break the model of one rich bloke owning a club.
And a second thought: having recently bought a house and had to jump through a bunch of hoops about proving where the money had come from etc., how is this rule not already in place? Surely it’s basic money laundering regs?
HOWEVER, the club could have gone to the wall, but at the 59th minute of the 11th hour it was saved.
He could have done what the Bury owner did……and didn’t (we’ll probably never know whether this was, or was not, an act of altruism towards us and the club, possibly with further financial loss attached to it).
The other thing I’m thankful for is that the Academy, as far as I know, survived all the cutting and asset stripping throughout the decline.
Discuss.I assume he was paid money for the club and therefore he wanted to make sure he maximised the return? Like making sure your house looks presentable when you try to sell it!
It’s not uncommon in these situations for players to follow an owner or a new manager to a club – I wonder if we’ll see a bunch of Peterborough Sports’ & Ilkeston’s players heading in our direction?
Electric Arc Furnace would mean a lot of job losses, I think
Loss of heavy end with ironworks, BOS plant, remaining coke ovens, sinter plant….
The Sands name disappeared this season, the former owner said at the start of the season, rather peevishly, that since the fans didn’t want the name he had cancelled it.

If you’ve paid big money for a business that is subject to a winding-up order, you’re going to want to get that solved to protect your investment. It’s basically just part of the cost of the takeover.

I know that all the family members have been removed from the website, the club statement has been made that David Hilton is now Owner and Chairman and that a Termination notice has been filed with Companies House for both of the Swanns but what about Coolsilk Property & Investment Limited? The company is still listed as ‘Persons with significant control’ is this just a formality and takes a bit of time to be changed or has the wool been pulled (again) before a big bill at the end of the month needs to be paid?
Files sent to Companies House do sometimes take a day or two to appear on the website, I’m surprised the termination of the directorships of the former owners has appeared already.

A huge mistake?
Not sure about that.
What if we get deducted three points for the pitch invasion say, and are relegated by a point? It will still be the fault of the previous ownership.
On the counter, after years of gloom, we’re allowed a moment of relief and happiness.
Yeah, I agree, and I am relieved and happy. But I firmly believe that any football fan should view their club’s owner with a bit of cynicism.

Seems that a resolution may be reached fairly soon, one way or another:
I'm also told that the consortium led by ex-Notts County owner Alan Hardy has submitted an increased and final offer for @SUFCOfficial including its debts, Glanford Park and the land surrounding the stadium. #Iron #Notts #UTI #BBCFootball @RadioHumberside

Fans United began with Brighton in the last 90s, I think? Not sure there’s that much solidarity among fans these days.
Question is where would we have to restart and what sort of crowds could we attract at that level? Chances are that it would be North East Counties Div 1, which is level 10 – so it would take 5 years, minimum, to get back to our current position. A big risk.

Turnbulls comment about the demonstration could wreck any potential deal is a joke.
Why would it, surely it would show that the fans fully support the club, how passionate they are.
And any new ownerwould want this enthusiasm.Fully agree, it’s a statement which doesn’t stand up to any scrutiny.
Unfortunately, our wonderful government has now made pitch encroachment a criminal offence – a ridiculous over-reach of the law. So the police may well be investigating regardless of the club’s views. And as we’ve seen in the past, football fans are an easy target for the police & courts.
Hardy did take a swipe at Elliot the other other day on twitter, regarding the “People don’t go shopping at Asda and offer half once they get to the checkout”.
Which is a completely false analogy because when you go to Asda they’re not desperate to sell and haven’t spent months telling you how there’s no more money to fund the shop.

If the worst happens and the club is wound up couldn’t the council refuse planning permission for the ground and surrounding area thereby reducing its value substantially. Or a compulsory purchase order bui have no idea what grounds are needed to do that.
What would be the legal basis for doing that? Is there a covenant on that land? I would doubt it, similarly can’t see the legal grounds for compulsory repurchase either – and even then compensation would be due and can’t see the council having that sort of money to spend.
Southend have received so many of these orders it’s hard to keep track!
As has been mentioned elsewhere, Southend have virtually got a season ticket at the High Court for this sort of thing, I think I read it’s often due to VAT or PAYE payment delays – essentially companies collect certain taxes on behalf of the government (see your wage slip) and have an obligation to pass that on.
The Lowland League is a lower standard than the English Conference, I’m not surprised he’s tearing it up there in Celtic’s B team. Would like to see him at the very least get a loan out to a Scottish league club, or a chance in their first team.

I once had an old banger of a car and was so desperate to sell, I accepted the first offer I got. The car was not running well, it had several problems which would cost money to fix, so I was happy to get shot of it and get anything in return. It never occurred to me to haggle.
Sounds like a charming bloke & a great club owner:
What we need is someone to list all the promises that Peter has made – and kept – to the supporters of the Iron.
Would make for a short list.
A very sad tale – the gambling industry is a parasite and needs to be much more tightly regulated.
Togger? Not heard that one for a long, long time.
Which is the more appropriate term, ” soccer thug ” or ” football hooligan “?
Depends who you’re talking to? But I’m not so much defending soccer as criticising “footy”. I mean “footy thug” is the sort of thing the Sun would come out with, surely that’s a winning argument?
Soccer is the old English word for it – a shortened form of “Association Soccer” – it’s far more British than American.
Blimey, a lot of things in the UK and world enrage me at present but the use of ‘footy’ is way down the list!
It’s far easier and funnier to be outraged about these inconsequential things than the actual problems of our country & world!
