Agree with all the above BUT why can we NEVER apply pressure to our opponents? Why do we allow them so much possession? Why are we never on the front foot and in their half for long periods?
Loft again the stand out player for me – although I did detect a slight drop of the shoulders in frustration before he scpred his scorcher.Disappointed to see no 4-4-2 attacking formation that we were promised, but for a young team in their first game, a point seemed a good return for their performance. Not convinced Newport are anything special on that showing but the next few games may tell us more. Onwards and upwards Neil!

This now needs moving to ‘non-football’

The 2 Bournemouth lads looked good. Loft looks a real find. Still need a keeper who can marshal a defence and dominate his area. Most disappointing was that for the last 10/15 minutes we wre playing in our half and not their’s – and at home.

Some ‘modern thinkers’ may regard 4-4-2 as ‘yesterday’s tactics’

First came across Neil reffing him playing U13/14 for App Frod(Alan Cooke’s team)They were winning all their games by large margins, mainly due to Neil and another talented lad Wayne Sykes – who joined him as apprentices at the iRON. Fast forward several years and one Saturday we heard that Neil had signed for Villa and was flying out to Hong Kong to join his new team mates. That same afternoon I was reffing Wayne Sykes as he turned out for Swinefleet in the Scunthorpe Saturday League. Such a fine line between these two highly talented youngsters. Wish him all the luck in the world – he may need it!
