After the great seasons of watching the Iron over the last 59 years, and I have seen the dark days in the 70s when we had little support and money, I have seen some great football under Laws and Nige with a few hick ups in between but the team tried hard to win games and we used create loads of chances whether we won, lost or drew, I had some great days out regardless of results land seen some fantastic players play for the club, but this last 3 seasons have been unreal, the way we got relegated 2 seasons ago with that run in when 10 points from 15 games would have kept us up to the bad start last season and the untimely sacking of Hurst because the Chairman wanted to have a bigger cull last season and bring youngsters in then, then more backs to the wall football from Russ with the home defeat to Grimsby without a shot on target looked like starting another drop down the league until Covid saved us, then the departures in the Summer and the massive recruitment of players nobody had heard of has now taken us to a new low football and results wise, we have won one game with a lot of luck and Watson finally having a good game, well it was overdue after 47 games, but now we have been conceding for fun with exciting tactics where we hardly have a shot at goal but the only grace we have is we have a few players coming back from injury and signed Junior Brown, but will it stop the rot because confidence is low and though fans were pleased when Neil Cox and Mark Lillis came back we were promised 4 4 2 exciting football and we have seen the total opposite, so if this continues I will not renew my season ticket and just go to a few games, if we are allowed back.
And now Mick?
Hmmm… hope I haven’t jumped the gun?
Blessed day!
Handmaid’s Tale reference DM?

The Meadowbank Stadium was our 176th different away ground, lots more new ones next season…
As it’s highly likely that Torquay, Yeovil and Maidstone will go into National League South, next season will be the first time that every league opponent will different from the previous season.

What a game, pure theatre! I sincerely hope Wrexham get promotion, they fully deserve it. They’ve spent 15 years in the NL and have endured far worse times than we have, very close to having a housing estate on the historic Racecourse Ground. The American owners are a breath of fresh air and have totally engaged with the local community. I just hope some of their mates fancy an even bigger challenge and take us on…
Lineker still conspicuous by his absence…
The cost of Christmas…

1991 FA Cup, despite missing a penalty. My happiest non Iron football day…
Mmmmm…..(in the style of Homer Simpson) clean sheets…

My parameters for grounds we have played on are as follows:
1. League games after 1950, including non league as there is now a proper structure in place.
2. FAC proper since our formation, if you include qualifying rounds you’re talking about teams such as Hull School Old Boys and Brodsworth Colliery etc.
3. League Cup
4. Football League TrophyYou make a good point about the FA Trophy though and as it only goes down to tier 8, I think it’s got to count?

Is The Citadel at Farsley Celtic in there Bobby?
No, we have never played Farsley Celtic home or away but next season…
Missed the 1st cloud arena South Shields there Bobby, only went to S.S and Maidenhead give up on most trips due to the rail strikes, just hoping to get to York , Notts and Dorking strikes permitting.
The South Shields game doesn’t qualify for my set of parameters as it was an FA Cup qualifying round and not the competition proper. We have played a match in South Shields in the FA Cup first round in 1971 but that was at their previous ground, Simonside Hall.

I remember it well, and the disappointment away at West Brom where we were desperately unlucky to lose 1 – 0.
If I remember correctly Cyrille Regis scored the winner after stamping on one of our players to get the ball.
A lot of turkey’s that voted for Christmas gobbling away on the news today.
Report to the grammar police first thing in the morning DM. I expect better from you!!
for So many Iron fans today will be tinged with sadness as they never got chance to say thanks and goodbye to Mr Swan.
And he’s kept his promise to leave us in a better position than when he took over…
