As I said many times Cox should have been sacked last January, it is his and Swanns fault we are were we are, and I still think that being out of league football and bankrupcy like Bury was the reason Cox was kept on, that is my opinion, simply because I cannot see any possible reason for keeping him on, he was clueless.
I’m available at reduced costs, I still run 10 miles in 90 minutes on a Sunday and an old ( but good ) left foot beats a right foot any day. Oh and I did once put the ball in the net at Glanford park !
Bloody hell, it would take me 90 mins to do one mile, even I must be past it regarding footy, I remember my last game before calling it a day, I was in goal playing Ashby Ins’t at the Screeds, we lost 0-9 and I think that I had a faily good game!!

BS I don’t agree Rowe was a 6 – he was absolute garbage – considering his task is to sit in front of back 4 they had so much space and their 3rd goal – the lad cannot run at all – weak, ineffective, played out of position like most of the squad just not league standard. I feel for the young lads having to save the club from Swanns pathetic recruitment. The guy and his silver spoon sons are killing 70 years of league football
I agree with what you say Ironawe, a 4 or 5 would have been more accurate, but when you say that he is playing out of position mate, all eleven of them are, simply because they are non-league standard players who are heading that way with Scunny, and should not be playing in a Football League team, I an now going to watch a couple of hours of eleben more wankers playing in Australia, thats if they manage to bat that long.
Well it has just finished, and although it was not a 4-0 type of game, after saying that, the nil part of it was correct, because apart from a couple of scuffed shots, their keeper had a very easy afternoon, we do not have any forwards that look likely to score goals!!!!!
And why the hell do they keep taking these stupid bloody worthless short corners, O’Malley takes a great set piece cross, but now does not take them.WATSON—6—Poor with the first goal, but made a couple of good saves.
O’Malley–5—Was ok, but not used correctly.
TAFT—5–Very clumsey at times.
DAVIS—4—Not good enough today.
ROWE–6—Defended well.
GREEN–4–Has speed, but does not use it, terrible ball control and worse at passing.
HIPPOLYTE–6—Did ok and had a good first half.
PUGH—4—Had a very poor game and subbed at half time, not really league standard.
HACKNEY–6—Started very well and had a good first half, dackered second half.
GALLIMORE–6—Was ok, but a weak headed clearance for their first goal.
BUNN—6—Did his best, but wants some front player support.REF—8—OK and got most things correct.
MANAGER—6—Did what he can with a very average squad of players, he knows like everyone else that we need a goal scorer. My biggest problem is why does he not insist on O’Malley not taking set plays!!we are just wasting them with the present players taking them.
SUMMARY—-The team played well during the first half and should never have been 2-0 down, the Watson blunder for the first goal really changed the game, although we never troubled the Tranmere keeper, we did have a couple of near misses.
With other teams at the bottom of league two either winning or not playing, Scunthorpe are losing ground at the bottom, today was not our biggest problem, it was the three points that we gifted Carlisle in that home match last week was the sickener, but with our next game at Exeter, we have a good chance of being stranded at the bottom, with too big a gap to recover from. I must sat that the new lad looked really quick and is better than the players that we have been playing, but you cannot score goals sitting on the bench!!!Max Bell said in the Telegraph that it was too early to play Sam Burns, where does he get that from??
It’s a sedan chair BS and I would tie it behind a Ferrari and point it down towards Dover so you could greet all our immigrant friends coming off the boats from France.
We would need to get a double decker one Iron-awe, because surely you wouldn’t want to miss greeting some more of your rag head buddies.
Loft versus Barton could be interesting. Will Joey take on anybody that big?
I fancy Joey Barton would be match for Loft anyda Cass, it just depends if Loft was having one of his off days, or was willing to take on a fight, off days being a lot more abundent then his fighting days.
Simple answer to that one Heathy my friend, the 4,000 can still attend without me being there, added to the fact that my legs are not too good just now pal, and it would have been difficult getting from the car park to the Cluggy, even so I was undecided at mid morning on match day. I pulled my calf muscle but hope it heals quickly and I can attend soon.
Maybe Iron-awe and yourself could use a sudan chair, but knowing Iron-awe I bet he would tip me out of it by dropping his end ha ha!
Very good news pal, now we just need a couple of centre forwards coming in.

Sorry to say, but the gate of 3,020 included 230 from Carlisle, meaning 2,790 home fans (correct me if I am wrong Northubiron) this for a fixture played on Holiday weekend, is very poor however way that you look at it.
There are still many issues that need sorting out, Keith Hill has done great since he arrived, but he needs fully backing from the Chairman, which looks as though he is not likely to be getting. But with the Holiday fixture being one that was expected to be a home win, added to it being a nice day weather wise,I would have thought the gate would have been over 4,000, but we still do not have any strikers in the squad, and I assume that is the main reason for such a low turnout, fans need to see an odd goal or two, but we have had this problem for three seasons now.
Well I really did think that we were on a three point win today, but the old, old tale, you cannot win matches if you do not have any players that can find the net. McDonald was a big treat for Carlisle, why this was so God knows, it was his FIRST GOAL he has scored in six years!!!
Order Loft a taxi, and get rid of him, we will never get a better chance if three clubs are supposedly after him.
Lucky today, because only Carlisle in the bottom five managed a win, but we need some wins ourselves, as soon as possible.1 user thanked author for this post.
People cannot take little snipits of Cox’s way of trying to be a football league manager, the guy may be a very nice man as so many of you have stated in the past, but he had no experience whatsoever, he came in from being a non-league ASSISTANT MANAGER, and in no time at all distinguished himself as not having a bloody clue. The team was playing a defensive system for the first 30 or 40 minutes of games, and were completely knackered for the remainder of games, they were obviously not training and were totally unfit, thats possibly why the slightest be of effort exerted by players resulted in strains or injuries, which at Scunthorpe always appeared to last for months on end for some reason.
The sad thing is that however bad a manager Cox was, the Chairman backed him and praised him, “for some reason or other,” maybe he is not a sacking type of Chairman ha ha!
Even when crowds dropped to 2,000 in protest obviously because fans had had enough of the unenjoyable rubbish being presented to them under Cox, he was still kept on until there was no other choice but to sack him, the guy should have gone last January, and all this “nice man” shite should not have been considered, the club needed a manager, not a nice man, we have now got one, and like others, I just hope that he gets backing next month from the Chairman, and the other management leave Keith Hill to do his job, he has been used to working under strict budgets, but he must be given a free rane to run the playing side of the club which includes players transfers, which from previous evidence must not be advised by Swann junior.
Lesgeo, when you say that you took some stick on here when you suggested sacking Cox a couple of months ago at a bad family time for him, don’t you think that your suggestion should have been last January, when he had proved that he had no idea what to do, and that the football was the worst ever seen by a Scunny team, and things would never get better????
Yes Keith Hill has certainly turned things round, there is still a long way to go simply because we still have the same players, the big difference being that they have now started training properly and are also putting effort into their match days, and also the different style of set up in the teams game is a breath of fresh air compared to the lets defend all game and see if we can hold out. Swann finally listened to the few of us that wanted Keith in, but didn’t listen when some of us could see how useless Cox and Lillis were, at least a year ago.
Just to finish things off Mr Swann, please get that loan paid off, and support Keith in the January window, by paying a few unwanted players off would be a good start, and keep the recruitment setup you have used last year well clear of any new player intake.
UP THE IRON, AND GOOD LOOK FOR 2022.
contraindicated.
A fantastic Football Forum word, must be a first, are all those letters in the right order les? How did you not get that into The Unassuming Assassin?
He checked with me first Cass, just to confirm the word is correct, I informed him that I had never heard of the word, but I might not be the best person to ask ha ha!!, I sometimes have difficulty with four letter words!!!!!!!!

To Ryan Loft.
I was one of many who said we wanted shot of you. Sorry Geeze, keep playing like you did for 45 minutes today. 2 goals and 1 assist.
UTBI
I have said many times on here that Loft is the better player between him and Jarvis and on ability would have been the one “providing he can be bothered” to get the goals.
Certain people on here “not mentioning any names” were coming out with “rather have Jarvis..Loft’s useless”
Do you still feel the same way after that 45minute display ?
I have said before that Loft has more ability in his left ball sack than Jarvis does in his whole body, if and this is a big if, he can actually be bothered from here on in, he’ll be the one to get the goals.
Bunn makes a difference as well as that more creative link upfront. If we get another couple of strikers, A creative midfielder and maybe another CB..we’ll be alright.
WonderGoals—-Loft had a really good second half today, but you must admit that in most matches Jarvis has been the better player between the pair of them. I think that we all saw today that Loft actually put in a lot of effort into his game, where as he has not been doing so, why do you think that he has not been selected by Keith Hill reacently???, this manager will soon suss out players that are not giving much effort, I hope this is the start that continues in the coming games. This compares with McAtee of last season, he really was a good player, but only when he wanted to be, on other occasions he didn’t give a toss.
Certainly is a lot better feeling after a win, but we have a long way to go yet guys, but a very good star, and I an sure that every Scunny fan feels a lot more confident that we now have a good manager. I was talking to an ex Rochdale and Bradford City player on Friday, he was not a Keith Hill lover, he said that Hill used to train them that hard till they dropped, I was wondering at the time how some of the Scunny players were feeling after their long season holiday under Cox and Lillis, these players will surely be feeling it badly, and really hard hit if this is the case, and it looks like it is!!!
Well done Keith and the lads, they started well, then it was even up to half time, and we then had full control of the second half, and really deserved the three points, but Oldham are a bloody poor team, and look likely relegation fodder. My assessment of the team today:-
WATSON—7—Played very well and looked to be in charge of his area, could have done better probably with their goal, and looked rooted when it floated over.
O’MALLEY—6—Played well enough.
TAFT—5–Very shakey, and also poor work when they scored, not safe in defence.
ONARIASE—7—Once more very solid in defence, appears to be very dependable.
ROWE—5—Had a quiet game today.
PUGH—5—Also has played a lot better and should have scored a goal.
HIPPOLYTE—8—My MOM today and seems to have gained a lot of self confidence these days.
HACKNEY—6—Had a very good second half.
GREEN—6—Had some nice quick runs, but his shooting and final ball lets him down.
JARVIS–5–Very poor today and it was correct to sub him at half time.
BUNN–6—Did a lot of good link up work, but his shooting was poor, plays well with Loft.
LOFT—8—Brought on at half time and was him that changed things, well played!!REF—8—Got most things correct, but allowed far too much time wasting.
HILL—9—Has got the lads a lot fitter than numb nuts before him, and is getting the best out of the players, better style of setting up the team, and is certainly the “dog wagging the tail”, the team still have a chance of staying up under Keith Hill, under Cox we were doomed.
SUPPORTERS—9—Nice to see so many fans getting behind the team, and making the noise they provided.
FUTURE—–A couple of home wins against Northampton and the vital game against Carlisle would make a vastt difference to our league position, and with this new found spirit, this can happen!!!!, so once again, well done today!!!

I would love to wish ALL members of the Iron-Bru Forum and all at SUFC a very happy New Year, and hope that you all have a much improved time than the past two years, which have been hell for many of us.
This also includes the FORUM SIX members that have been part of a lot of banter over the years, no hard feelings guys, and enjoy the future.
I really miss the GP days, and hope that things get a lot better under the new manager, it would be nice if enjoyment and entertainment could once again be gained by a Saturday visit into the Cluggy, the problem is that the best mates that sat in my seat location have also stopped attending matches so it would be a bit lonely right now.
Anyway, all the very best guys from bartonscorpion.

nORTHUMBIRON—-1957 was my year to remember pal a really great year fore entertaiment at the OSG, the 3-1 away win in the FA Cup against Cup specialist Newcastle was brilliant and our year when winning the Giant killers cup. Pity but we never seem to advance to the stage of the big guys entering the competition these days.

My comment no.2 regarding me wanting and requesting many many times on this forum over the past year, that things would never change for the better under Cox and that he should be sacked, looking back, it did not help when the same forum members kept saying that “he was local” and that he was a “very nice man” did not help in any way.
The truth is that he has not got a clue, and that he will never get a job like he had at Scunny ever again, but I still think that he was kept on because he was part of the plan that would see SUFC go bankrupt, but it went on too long which forced his own sacking.3 users thanked author for this post.
The reason that I have not renewed my long term season ticket is not just a single one resaon, it is a few reasons:-
1. Because of the very boring so called football ptresented to us over the past four years.
2. Because Cox was not sacked last January, and Swann kept saying that he was doing a good jpb.
3. Because there not being any signs of things getting any better.
4. Because of the Chairmans lack of interest, and all of his faulse promisses turning out to be just trying to take the piss out of the clubs supporters, none ever came true.
5. Because I just thought, after supporting the team for 70 years, there is no longer any enjoyment in attending.
6. Because I just could not take any more of the team defending every match, even at home.
7. I was angree when the ground was taken from the clubs ownership, to pay for an £11 million pound debt which was run up, and suppervised by the same person that got the into debt.
8. Last of all, all of the friends near the location of my seat have also stopped attending. My reasons are nothing to do with Covid, I have had my 3 Covid jabs, and my season flu jab, and feel safe enough in the Gluggy, even more so now, because there isn’t anyone within 3 metre of my usual seat, this can clearly be seen when watching i-follower, I don’t mind the £10 i-follower fee, but are not prepared to waste a full day at the ground and come away bored, no entertainment or enjoyment gained, the owner cannot be arsed to attend, so why does he think that we should!!!!!!!
5 users thanked author for this post.
I think you should have the jabs and if you don’t you are taking a bigger risk and also could be spreading it, I was Ill with the same symptoms before the Covid was announced and Doctors didn’t know what it was and didn’t know how to treat that infection and lots of other people had it, but Doctors now reckon it was Covid, but after having a chest infection for 7 weeks over twice the normal length of a chest infection I can assure you alcazar it wasn’t fun and Covid19 isn’t the flu and I know people who died from it, and it is the only time in my life I have had a tin of soup for Christmas Dinner, and spending most nights sleeping in the chair because it was a nightmare laying in bed because you had a struggle breathing when laid down, and since that time it has got a lot worse.
I had a similar period Mick, it was in Dec / Jan and early Feb, just before the Covid first came to be, I also went practically blind for about ten days, but the sight gradually came back, but not as good as before, during January, I lost my dear wife with breathing problems, I put both these down as Covid which so called started in Feb / March.
Hope you are feeling a bit better Mick, but as you say, it was probably Covid.

Not an attack on the elderly greylag, just an attack on an individual who believes you shouldn’t get hospital treatment if they are unvaccinated even if they have paid there taxes. I do hope though the NHS would give an intensive care bed to someone younger than us oap’s if there was a choice to be made.
Once again Awaywego, you are talking out of your arse, I did not say that they should not be treated, I said that they should not get FREE TREATMENT!!, and it was an attack on elderly people that are drawing pensions.
I would rather the hospitals gave beds to people awaiting cancer treatment, or hip or knee replacements, and others awaiting treatment for things, rather than silly pricks than think yhey know more than the medical professionals, and still insist on not having the free Covid jabs, I would think that 90% of people agree with this.
No doubt the youth team will have brought it back with them from Manchester. We were told we needed a vaccination to bring the “R” rate down, well most of us have probably had 3 vaccs and the “R” rate is between 3 and 5 the highest it as ever been, we were told the virus unchecked would cause a 2% death rate, he ho we’ve passed that rate because we’ve suppressed it so long, just goes to show the scientists and medics got it hugely wrong, fair play to Alcy on his stance. If anyone is being selfish BS it is you, you must be at least 80 yes old, why should society be looking after you? can’t imagine your contributing to the wealth of the nation anymore in fact you are drawing a pension and are a drain on the NHS, whereas many of those 10 to 15% you refer to are paying national insurance and taxes to get hospital treatment, Which is not free it all and as to be paid for by taxpayers, no doubt you contributed as well but they never envisaged people would live as long as people are nowadays so do us all a favour and help out in a way that you know you can.
What a stupid arse hole you are Awaywego, so just to correct your ignorance, I worked overseas for 40 years, and this brought into the British acconomy probably 4 0r 5 Million in foreign money, that is better than your few pounds working in a shop or probably on the dole more like, I also paid NI payments during those 40 years. And please do not forget that I also worked in the UK 13 years, paying full tax and NI payments, possibly earning more in those 13 years than you will in your sad lifetime !!!!!
So you think that people that reach pension age should be put down, well it is probably a good ides, but we have a vastly more right to be here than your bloody drop out illegal boat invaders, that have never, and probably will not contribute a bloody penny to Britain.
Anyway the News tonight are saying that 73% of hospital entries with Covid are people that have not been jabbed, so you can stick your bloody argument up your arse, you horribe prick.
2 users thanked author for this post.
And just to add, there will be maybe 10 to 15% of Brits that will not get the set of 3 jabs, they should be refused to given free hospital treatment but once again, it is Britain we are talking about.
It is not as easy as Boris Johnson says regarding they want every adult to get booster jabs by the end of this month. The rules are that you have your 1st jab, then your second jab is due so many months later, followed three months later for the booster jab, so anyone that has only just had either of the first two jabs, will have a minimum of three more months before the booster, and even a lot longer if you are still waiting for your second jab. So there will be many millions of Brits not able to have the booster till well into 2022.
But in my opinion, these different strains of Covid will keep coming, and as one is so called under control, another one is in the waiting, I remember 16 months ago saying on this forum that this virus would be ongoing for years, I am really sorry to say that it has and will turn out to be correct. Whilst airports remain open to all foreign flights these new strains will arrive shortly after first being discovered. And whilst selfish people still insist on going on foreign holidays, or going to India or where ever to see their relations, which does not help in any way, but as we all know, it will continue, and any new strain will be ready to pounce!
It’s not really an issue about points tallies. All we have to do is gain more points than three or four of the other bottom teams.
If we fail and better just two – the likelihood of survival is still extremely high.We are all aware of what we need Lesgeo, but same as Alkazar says, the gap to get us out of the bottom two places is now 3 points plus goal difference, so in reality its 4 points and Oldham starting to pick up points does not help. Biut after saying that, it is another season like last year when Southend and Grimsby ended below us, but we are presently in BOTTOM place and it is nearly Christmass, so we need a couple of wins very soon, simply because we will be playing the likes of Oldham and Carlisle, so if we lose to either of them, we could be 7 points adrift, a position we would not recover from.
….only two things in life we can be sure of, death and taxes
Well Iron-awe, I am not too sure about the taxes ha ha!
Now the Iron appear to not lay down and let teams come at us for the last 30 mins, but why the hell didn’t Swann get rid of those waste of time so called management in Cox and Lillis, they should have gone last January, but so many so called supporters wanted them kept on “because they are very nice men”, what a load of balls that turned out to be, the same people now agree with this, but lets hope it isn’t too late.
