Adam Hammill left over two years ago.
You haven’t been for a long while have you?
I was refering to Hallam pal, it’s probably that long since he was fit enough to play, one can get mixed up with names, I just wish that we had a few Merv/Ken Jones, Waldock’s, Dick Whites, Jack Haigh, type of players in the squad, I would be there every week still.

I can understand not going. But not going and still listening to it on the radio. Bloody Hell!
Yes Northumbiron, I see your point mate, but at least you can turn the bloody thing off after listening to Mr “really really” expert summeriser Cox ha ha!!
So BS that I’ll be about 70 years you’ve followed the Iron. If the 2 to 2.5 thousand didn’t turn up we would not have a club by now. The big man would have his building site. It won’t happen but I would like to see 5 thousand turn up support the team but make it clear to the heirarchy before at halftime and after the match in one way or another what are true feeling are. We all need to do something before it is too late. Staying away is not the answer in my view but hey ho each to his/her own.
It will happen anyway sir, do you think that you 2,500 will stop Swann pulling the plug on the club ??, I hope that it does not happen, but in my opinion between November and February news will come through that no more money will be put into the club, and with no buyers liquidation is the only answer, he will then get his hands on the stadium and all its land, are you all blind to this?????Who do you think is likely to offer money for the club, there is nothing of any value to buy, and with no stadium, no car parks and training ground, all that is being sold is a non-league club that is 23rd out of 24 in the National League, about 30 very poor players, well about 25 players if you disgard Hammil and his sick note pals, and the sale would also come with Daws and Mussa, and 2,000 fans when winter arrives, so what value do you put on that package, maybe £20,000!!

First time you can’t pay on the turnstile to get in?
With the present team and management, I would think that probably a few fans would gladly pay at the turnstile to get out!!!!
The football is only an 1-5hrs of the day Alcy, went with my son and grandsons bumped into my sister and travelled with friends, none of whom I would have seen if I had not gone, going to a game is so much more than the football if it was just down to the football I just wouldn’t go, and have explained before that’s why I don’t go to many home games, obviously you and the likes of BS have no friends to go with and I can understand why you don’t attend no problem, I just find it hard to understand why you can’t understand what motives or reasons people have in doing what they want and when they want, certainly wouldn’t let one man stop me from watching my team, what did you do on Saturday.
Awaywego, you are correct pal you say that Alki and myself do not have many friends, that is probably right simply because less people wish to be with elderly people of 80 odd you will find this when you reach that age mate, but what friends I have can suffer other things than visiting GP for two hours of pain.
You ask what we did on Saturday, well my day was probably just as bad as yours Awaywego, I sat and listened to the shite on RH, but that experience was compounded by that clueless boring COX, who for some reason was introduced as the EXPERT SUMMERISER, with his record, how the hell can he claim to be an expert, and to make things worse every time he spoke he included the “really really” words, but at least my cost was zero and driving is not so good these days.
I do not condemn you for going pal, simply because I have done the same as yourself and jumped in my car and attended thousands of away games of Scunny’s, but for me what Swann has done to our once great little club is just not acceptable to myself, and by keeping away and not saying anything to the remaining supporters is criminal, he is an evil greedy person who appears to be enjoying what he has done.
And the first time in 70 years that I have no interest in considering going to watch the team.

Buck’s, these are 100% the same as my feelings, I never missed a Scunny game for year after year, including possibly 40% of away matches, but the way that football is played these days with players passing to others, then the ball is returned time after time, to me it is just uninteresting boring rubbish, this added to all the diving and rolling about acting has taken over the enjoyable football of teams having wingers and crosses into the box from the wing. Regarding SUFC, after following the club since 1951, it has really hit me how Swann has guided my team into dire non-league football, I could never see this happening, but due to his greed, he appears to have total contempt for our fans, not issuing any information to supporters is even worse than listening to lie after lie, but I am shocked that 2,500 still turn out every home game to watch the total shite that is presented to them, maybe it is the catering and plush surrounds that are dragging them to GP, or maybe it is hoping that they can witness history of a WIN, so that they can tell their grandkids that they were there!!!!

Said it at the beginning of the season.
We are going down again.Yes, Alcazar I am sorry to say but I did also, in fact I thought that the club would have become another Bury by now.

Well, today must rank as the worst in the clubs history, knocked out of the FA Cup by a team that plays in the third league in the non-league tree, and played without any effort or basic system what so ever. The club has a squad of wage thieves, who cannot even bother to put up any fight. It is run by a management team with the temp manager that has run the youth team for possibly over ten years without producing any players that have devoloped into league standard, the long time coach in Mussa, that has also been coaching the team for years, but being an ex keeper, we always appear to have a very poor keeper in the team, the club owner has no interest in the club, apart from hanging about for the club to go bust so his company can take the clubs land and assets.
Although todays game was described by attending fans as being pathetic, it was even worse listening to it on RH where the expert commentator was none other than Cox, the ex-manager that had less knowledge than the present cluless and aimless crew, ever other word from Cox was “really – really, he must have said it over 200 times during the 90 mins, yes he was introduced as being the “expert summeriser”, which was a “really-really” bad description of him.

Cass, I am trying to come to terms with your statement of “will we rest key players”, just who are these players, knowing that even in non-league, we have managed ONE WIN IN THE LAST ELEVEN MATCHES.
1 user thanked author for this post.
I really must agree, that things have got a bit better during the past 5 matches, but at the same time, it must be faced that Scunny have only WON ONE MATCH in the past eleven games, and as Sanfran points out, the club is second from bottom of a non-league devision, so not much to shout about is there???. No one is pleased or happy to see the sate of our club, and it is very wrong to state that anyone is gloating at our sorry state of affairs, we would love to see Scunny climb up the table, but that will only happen if they start winning a few matches, draws are ok if a few wins are scattered amongt results, and this is even more the case with the club taking only three points from their first seven matches.
There are about seven or eight teams with only about three points between each of them, so a couple of wins would see a rise out of the bottom four, Saturday would be a good time to start with, being at home to another very poor team in Aldershot.
Scunny always seem to ship in a far post goal from a ball centred into their area, tonight saw another one!!, surely the manager must point this out and inform the defenders of this costly issue.
I can remember playing South Shields in the FA Cup when I was at school, possibly in ther 1950 / 1960s periods, I went to the match, but cannot rewmember the result, does anyone else remember going??
Yeah points away from home against bottom of the league are brilliant, especially when we’ve won once away from home in 37 or whatever it is games now. It’s going to have to be a team terrible beyond words for us to actually pick up 3 points off of them!
I think that should be 38 gamesBig Left Toe.

You might want to refrain from accusing him of lying BS, and anyone else for that matter. Just to be on safe side. Not berating you, but I believe it’s libellous?
Surely Deareyme99, it cannot be any problem mate, there is a list as long as your arm of lies that have been fed to supporters, and that is only the one’s we know about. It would be libellous if anyone stated that he usually tells the truth !!!!!
2 users thanked author for this post.
It has not been announced simply because it is probably true, if it had been a bare faced lie Swann would have informed the supporters, thats how things worked at SUFC for the past eight years.

What a bloody mess Britain is now in, the actions taken by this government are making things even worse if that is possible, I think that things are presently in such a sad state, that it is difficult seeing how anything can be fixed, but how anyone can see that making the rich get richer, and all bills for the normal or poor devils (these are probably the same people), Trussstated that her ways would be unpopular, so at least she is correct with that statement.
To knock the very high earners 45% tax raye stinks.
What bloody difference will knocking off 1 penny off tax make to a low earner, nothing.
Who and how many Bankers will pocket millions by stopping their big fat bonuses.
What was actually given to pensioners that are on £9,000 a bloody year, this will just about pay their Gas / Elect, Water, Comunity charge, rent or mortgage payments,, phone bill, TV licence and home insurance payments, that is without looking at food bills with iten going up every week, and the cost of fuel if you manage to run a car.Things have now reached the point when this must end in a national strike, and many people stealing from shops and houses in order to try to survive, the rich and investers have made a killing over the past few weeks in the money markets, at the same time when people without work or not able to work, and low paid workers and pensioners are looking how they are going to keep warm or feed their family over winter.
But the government can still borrow £15 billion per year to donate to countrys like Nigeria etc, and put up 45,000 drop out boat invaders in hotels at a cost of 5 million pounds per day, yes the tax payers will pay the bills ha ha, what a bloody joke. So very sad when at the same time British people cannot afford to buy a home of their own because of the very high house prices and mortgage payments that are heading in one direction, thinking back how great the 1950 / 60s were.
So lets get ready for our Gas/Elect bills rising even more rapidly in four days time, and your mortgage payments will be probably have 5% interest charges in a few months instead of maybe 1.75% at present, but please be reminded that there are foods banks in most area’s for us, whilst the rich get even more richer.
So wrap up well for a very long winter and eat what you can afford to buy, and good luck and God Bless you all.
I to had those same feelings Classic, but you have more right to comment than myself because you were there mate. I sat and listened to the first half on radio Humberside, and it was that depressing I could have thrown the radio into the garden, but gladly I continued listening, and was over joyed at the second half, and possibly as pleased as yhose that were actually attending, but what is wrong when they just did not turn up for the first half???, they could have been 5-0 down against a part time team that train two times per week, and play at a stadium with a 3,000 capacity (but saying that, at least they do own it). And the other week Scunny were 3-0 up and still managed to lose the game 4-3.
I am really pleased to see the results are getting better, but not so carried away as some supporters, just be reminded that this was Scunthorpe’s first win in nine matches, next week will be a good tester for the team when playing at the bottom team Torquay who lost 6-0 yesterday, lets go and win that one!!!
Having your own opinions is fine, and choosing not to attend is your right. However, calling loyal supporters “nut heads” is out of order – and I’m sure that they enjoyed the result today more than you did.
[/quote]
Iron-iron-iron, you are wrong there pal. I really enjoyed the second half just as much as you or any other Scunny fan, remember I attended the OSG and GP for many years mate, I am sure it was 70 years, but will require UptheIron99 to confirmation on that!!!.OK, how many fans would have agreed with my comments if asked at half time (when they were made), it would have been 99% of them, it’s fine making your comments after the game has ended, and the second half was really great, and the result was needed. So you will be making your plans for the trip down to Torquay I hope Iron-iron-iron, I hope Scunny get a result in that game, Torquay lost 6-0 today so there is a chance.
Well, the ref has just blown for half time, in what must have been the worst performance by a Scunny team in many a year, they have been overrun by a part time team who are 0-2 in front, but according to the commentators, it should be 5 or 6 to the part timers, Scunny have reached an all time low, and have not really had a shot on the Dorking goal, the players have just gone off to a really good ringing of boo’s from the die hards that still are prepared to bother to turn up to watch thus pathetic shower.
IT IS PROBABLY A GOOD TIME TO LIQUIDATE THINGS AND PULL THE PLUG ON THINGS!!!!
How bloody low can our once great little club sink. only this week fans were yelling how things are much better, that was after a couple of draws which were following six straight losses, so just another round of boo’s from the fans, and another round in 45 minutes time, then back home sick as parrots and get ready for thew next home game, and the two away matches that are coming up for about 200 usual nut heads.
Has it really been 70 years? Blimey!
Yes eereyme, if you do not believe me Awaywego will confirm it for me, yes I got my ticket from the Henderson Avenue club building when aged eleven, I think it was 3d entry, and these prices kept the club operating, those days there was nothing in it for Swann’s pocket.
Turnbull & Daws have devoted big percentages of their lives to the Iron.
Yes mate, so have I, as Awaywego will confirm (70 years), the difference being is that I have paid out money during that time, whilst they have been drawing money for very little outcome, fans do not have any influx on the clubs disasterouse performance on the field, whilst they should have. But we all know who is to blame, yes the Swann who has guided the club from top of League One, to bottom of the National League, and practical none existance shortly.

Spot on we need our voices to be heard. We must protest and now it’s no good going down without a fight
I completely agree with you pal, I have stated many times. and even a couple of weeks ago on here, but there waw zero responce from anyone, although I am 81, and live in Barton, I would only be too pleased to attend any protest meeting, but whilst there are 2,500 still turning up at GP to watch the rubbish, and 200 still going long distances to away games, there does not appear to be any interest in turning out to protest against that evil guy that has driven our club into the present no hope situation. Just think, only 6 wins in the past 70 games, 1 away win in the past 40 matches, and one point from the last seven games, but the 2,500 fans just boo the team off at half and full time and go home sick as parrots, but then check their fixture lists to see when the next game is.
There wasn’t even any protest when Swann gave the clubs stadium, car parks and training ground land over to his own company so I cannotI really cannot see any pending protest happening, yes when he stole the assets some of us have never set foot into GP ever since, Swann will win and end up with his aim of having the land package to sell to building contractors.

You cannot take it away from him, Peter Swann is really top class when he puts his mind to anything, it is difficult to see that anyone could have done a more complete job of ruining a business, he will join a handfull of owners that have taken a football club into ruination.
Although I am proud of my record of forcasting things, this is one of them, as for the past year I have stated many times on here (as Awaywego will probably confirm this), that Swann has been driving SUFC into admin or liquidation, I am really sorry to say that it is possibly only a matter of weeks or maybe days away from coming true.
What can be done to avoid the end of our little club is beyond me, Swann has guided us from being top of League One, to our present sorry state of being bottom of a non-league status, losing every week because of the poor standard of players and management, and the town of Scunthorpe will soon be joining Bury and Bradford PA etc who also lost their football clubs, fair play to the 2,000 supporters that have stuck with the club for the past 5 pathetic seasons, it was too much for myself to do so, even though some of my 70 years following the club were not all happy times, but none was so bad as these 5 years and counting (it was 70 years wasn’t it Awaywego ????, please confirm pal).
SO WELL DONE SWANN, NOW GET YOURSELF OFF TO BLACKPOOL AND TRYSAVING ANOTHER OF YOUR BUSINESSES, WHICH IS ALSO TIPPED TO BE FLOUNDERING UNDER YOUR CONTROL.
5 users thanked author for this post.
I fear you are right, there is no desire from Swann to keep the club afloat and most now see through his empty speak. He’s a busted flush in this town with zero credibility
I am very sad to say, but what I predicted over a year ago, is very quickly coming to face us all, this man is evil, and I feel that he actually gets pleasure in what he has done to our club over the years, he still insists that it is the fans that have caused problems. He will not leave the club without money and liquidation is the easiest way for him to gain the land package that he took from the club to pay for all his errors.
1 user thanked author for this post.
I see were back to telling us about the 70yrs again, though I do have memory problems, how many years was it?
I think that you have used the wrong word there Awaywego, maybe mental problems instead of the memory problems used would have been more fitting.
I am a very big lover of the Queen and the Royal family, but surely to have had full gates at FootbaLL matches, that would have brought large groups of people together, and for them to have had a two minute silence together, and sang the Natioal Anthem along with the staff and players prior to kick off, would have shown a lot more respect than just announcing that all football games would be off. In my opinion it was wrong to have taken the action that was taken.
God save the wonderful lady and may she RIP. XXX

In 10 or 15years time some of you won’t be here also me the land will be still there and there wil be houses stop moaning we are going busy that’s how it is
Hell XXX, 10 to 15 months will be a bonus mate, but I do feel very sad how my little club for 70 years, has been wrecked and taken out of existance by that big fat, greedy, evil guy, that has driven it purposly that way.
5 users thanked author for this post.
Another weekend at the bottom.
Postponed or not Cass, it makes no difference really, if played we would still have been bottom mate, possibly even more behind other teams down there, and with Liquidation pending, the question is “will Scunny have enough points to cover the 12 point deduction at the end of the season, presently they have 3 points from a possible 21 !!!!!, this is really sad and pathetic the way Swann has guided our once loved little team to land up in this position, he must be the most hated person to ever have been connected to any football team.
1 user thanked author for this post.
BS as per norm talking from the comfort of the Bellend Inn after consuming much porter.
Well iron-awe, what a silly childish statement for you to come out with, what I was trying to say was taking into consideration that although Daws has been in SUFC management for many long years, he did not even start the game with any of the many young players that have made the first team squad, and by the way just to keep you up to date, it is probably five or six years since I visited any pub, I provably have one Bud x five nights per week, most of my money was deducted in income tax over my 53 years of working !!!!.
Does any Scunny supporter actually think that the youth team coach, and a goalkeeper coach, both long term members of SUFC management, and with records of years of failure, to be the answer to the clubs many problems????
