Okera Simmonds, 24 yrs old striker “seems to be rated as he’s always come off the bench in every game”. Played over in Wales for Leek Town.
Leek is in Staffordshire not Wales. I think you’re confusing the town with the vegetable.
I’ve long suspected he is a vegetable.
July 16, 2025 at 3:30 pm #307011Sorry, Flint Town. I must have seen that he played in the welsh league and automatically thought of Leeks.
Thanks god I didn’t say he last played for Sheep Town.

Absolutely you’d have been right round there with your wellies on.
July 16, 2025 at 5:46 pm #307023Given our increase in the number of Strikers at the club, I think the Triallists who play in that position really will need to be special to earn a contract. The defensive midfielder, defender and GK may just have to be considered “good enough for the money” to earn a deal.
July 16, 2025 at 6:08 pm #307029Or on an optimistic note it could mean that our scouting has improved.
July 16, 2025 at 10:33 pm #307043The lesser spotted ‘optimistic’ word.
July 17, 2025 at 8:31 am #307046Or perhaps looking at building a development unit. Sign and then loan out to leagues below us. Thereby creating our own feeder section. Just an idea.
July 17, 2025 at 10:45 am #307052Sounds okay, SF, but I suspect it might not be especially cheap.
July 17, 2025 at 11:53 am #307054Wasn’t that Hilton wanted to do Sanfran, with a midlands catchment area and training base to avoid traveling with more appeal than us tucked off the M180.
At least the idea had merits.July 17, 2025 at 12:21 pm #307056Sorry, Flint Town. I must have seen that he played in the welsh league and automatically thought of Leeks.

That’s more your scene. Throw a goat or two in there, I doubt your too picky.

It has to be a break even scheme unless of course we have someone who will fund it.
Was just an idea.Someone mentioned Mr ?????? – he scrapped all levels by text on a saturday morning with no pre warning. Was there ever a plan !

Luv a bit of curried goat me WG, have you tried it? I’m guessing your more of a McDonald’s and fizzy pop type of guy?

Wasn’t the plan to stop paying bills, eventually stop paying wages, grab as much money in cash as possible then jump ship? Something along those lines anyway.
July 17, 2025 at 3:20 pm #307067The PFA non contract 22 for their game at Port Vale on Saturday just popped onto my FB feed. Top of the list Hakeeb Adelekan! There are a few other notables in there and there must be a couple of GK’s who are worth considering. A challenge for those more knowledgeable than me to identify them from the list of names!

Angus Gunn is on the list but probably a bit out of our price range.
Jamal Blackman is the only other one who I recognise as a Gk he’s a bit more likely.
Olomola is on the list too.

July 27, 2025 at 1:03 pm #307651Given that they were on the bench and did not figure yesterday have we now seen the last of Shipstone and Simmonds? In his post Spennymoor video, AB alluded to a game ( unscheduled as far as I can see) on Tuesday. Does anyone know about where this is and who our opponents may be? Will the alleged signing this week be a player we know something about ( eg Rose on season long loan) or an entirely new face?
July 27, 2025 at 1:19 pm #307652Surely the new player has to be a RB. Butler must like Simmonds, as apart from Spennymoor, he’s featured in every game. I bet he starts Tuesday. Not a listed game so will be a behind the closed doors type of deal that we’ve recently agreed with a local-ish team.
July 27, 2025 at 1:22 pm #307653Harry Shipstone looks about 12 and must be 10 stone soaking wet.
No disrespect to the lad but I don’t think he’s really what we need in midfield in this division.
Simmonds has had a fair bit of game time but if we sign him he’s going to be competing with Chadwick, Eze and Carlton. Another forward would be a luxury signing. Can we really afford that?
July 27, 2025 at 1:46 pm #307655Yes if we are to compete in the NL cup, first game on the 12th I believe and I take it we are going to compete the points are where the money is, short of the RB for a start probably need a couple more just for cover alone.
July 27, 2025 at 2:19 pm #307661Only need a few injuries and it won’t seem like a luxury. And they can always go out on loan?
July 27, 2025 at 2:26 pm #307662Better hope those injuries are on the forward line then.
Get a couple of defenders out and we’re screwed.
July 27, 2025 at 5:28 pm #307667Good point
August 2, 2025 at 3:55 pm #307940Are we keeping Simmonds, Shipstone and Gjoshe or what. If not, why are they on the bench on the last pre season friendly?
August 2, 2025 at 4:39 pm #307941Is a tad strange. Simmonds would be what, 7th choice striker if he signs?
Starting with 3 full backs today (unless Starbuck started in midfield). Seems certain that Campbell will be starting next week…it’s a sad state of affairs between the sticks when you’re actually rooting for Dracula Watson to win the no.1 shirt.
August 2, 2025 at 4:54 pm #307945I understand from a York fan I know is that Rory doesn’t get on well with their manager because of his attitude, but in the few games he had late season he had 3 clean sheets

August 2, 2025 at 5:09 pm #307946I suspect Starbuck did not play at FB but wide right like last Saturday.
August 2, 2025 at 5:26 pm #307947So 5 at the back again then. Sigh.
August 2, 2025 at 5:57 pm #307950Hmm. That may work for the first 10 games.
August 2, 2025 at 6:17 pm #307951Assuming it was practice for 5 at the back at Tamworth next week but meant we just about controlled the first half without creating anything that didn’t involve Roberts being Roberts.
You were right about Rose Lesgeo – seems he went back to Peterborough as a handy looking right back but has returned as a centre back of 3 fighting over 1 forward.
Second half of Butler substitution bingo meant we looked even less organised or interested.
Pretty poor Worksop side (according to their supporters I was chatting to) had the better second half chances and probably should have nicked it.
August 2, 2025 at 6:36 pm #307953You don’t have to have a lot of chances on our goal to score one
