Please leave your player rating marks and player / team comments, more player rating marks would be good to read guys.
November 17, 2020 at 8:51 pm #197650Howard 5 awful kicking, nothing else to do
Rowe 5 caught out a few times, long balls forward to no one
McGahey 8 Solid,great positioning throughout
Onourise 9 Excellent, won everything, not beaten all night Mom
Brown 6 beaten few times early on, steady thereon after
Gillead not really in the game much, could of helped out Rowe more
Spence 7 Good battling, looking a better player with better ones around him
Beestin 6 not really involved much, our long ball style didn’t really help
Eissa 7 cracking goal, good running getting us up the pitch, lost or gave the ball away easily few times
Loft 8 good physical performance, unlucky to hit the post.
Kvv 6 looked like Saturdays game had took it out of him
SUBS Mcatee 5 not sure he touched it more than twice
Posted with 5 minutes left as had to go to work
November 17, 2020 at 9:02 pm #197654Pele’s got it pretty much spot on apart from I’d only give Loft a 6. He put himself about well but gave the ball away loads (again) and definitely should have passed to McAtee for a tap in!
November 17, 2020 at 9:08 pm #197655Think the ratings above are pretty accurate in fairness. My opinion is:
Howard: 6 – Distribution not great big save at end before foul. Not much else.
Rowe: 6 – looked solid before yellow card then got too cautious and was caught out a couple of times.
McGahey: 8 – great to have him back in there, (thought it was abit hard on Bedeau as he played very well vs Oldham) but showed his quality today.
Onariase: 9 – looked solid again today, put everything on the line. Was it a pen at the end? Who knows! Proper centre half.
Brown: 7 – solid, few wayward balls as with everyone.
Gillead: 5 – slowest performance I’ve seen from him for a while. Wouldn’t look into it too much, been fantastic so far this season.
Spence: 7 – battled hard, off the ball work is there. Tough game for all midfield
Beestin: 6 – not his type of game today but battled hard. Good partnership building between the two.
Eisa: 8 – worked hard, outball and showed quality. Unbelievable strike.
Loft: 9 – best game I’ve seen from the lad, worked hard won a lot and went out to prove a point, hit the post and showed confidence.
KVV: 7 – worked hard, looked a worse side without him. Battled hard and looked like the feisty KVV we saw under Hurst.
3 points is 3 points and I’m chuffed to bits with that. Big professional performance and showed character and spirit. Bring on Saturday. UTI.

Pull back to Eissa on the edge was the ball to play, although Mcatee should of checked his run for a pass rather than charging in,defender might of got it of he played the ball to him were he ran
November 17, 2020 at 9:20 pm #197661Loft was ill-served by the vast majority of the balls played forward to him. Looking a player with potential.
Well done to Rowe – he’ll learn a huge amount from a game of that type.
McGahey, Onariase and Brown – WELL DONE. We have a defence.Gutsy. Great to see a game where the thought of giving anyone less than 6 never even occurred to me.
My comments about the ref on Saturday should perhaps be repeated for tonight.
November 17, 2020 at 9:26 pm #197664Best tenner I’ve spent all season, not the best side, but I enjoyed it because we played as a team & looked comfortable.
2 wins from 2 games; another 36 wins & we will be champions!
UTMI!
November 17, 2020 at 9:33 pm #197665@letsgeo @Noriman agree with both of these comments, not the best football played by a long shot but we can’t go and play football everywhere, hard fought gutsy performance where ever man played for the shirt and points. Really good to see.
November 17, 2020 at 9:50 pm #197666I’d argue Howard deserves a bonus point for his quick catch and fantastic early throw to set up Eisas goal. Rest of the distribution may have been poor but that was absolutely superb.
November 18, 2020 at 11:48 am #197679Loft had a really good game. People are saying he should have passed but 9 out of 10 times, that shot hits the inside of the post and deflects in, he was just unlucky.
I’d rather he taken the shot, least it shows he had confidence in his own ability instead of passing the buck.
Gillead was poor but he’s been good all season. I thought young Rowe did well, bit nervy when he picked up the yellow but considering Port Vale was targeting him most of the night, thought he showed promise.
People need not forget that players in this team at present aren’t even really match fit yet.
I just hope Big Kev is ok after going off.
Mcgahey made a big difference as well.
Howard: 6.0
Rowe: 6.5
McGahey: 9
Onariase: 8
Brown: 7
Gillead: 5
Spence: 7
Beestin: 6.0
Eisa: 8
Loft: 7.5
KVV: 7
November 18, 2020 at 12:09 pm #197687Onariase was definitely my MOTM…proper defender. Got to give credit to whoever it was that picked him up from non-league!
November 18, 2020 at 12:27 pm #197689A bit late guys, but forum not available last night.
Well the points are with us and sipporters must be very pleaed to have them, but I cannot help but think that Port Vale mastered their own downfall by passing the ball to death, instead of putting some balls into our box were we have been so vunerable this season, they had not obvuously done their homework on us.
Although very enjoyable to watch, I am not a big lover of defending the last 15 minutes of games, but last night we decided to drop into defence for the whole of the second half, we got away with it last night, but normally the team comes unstuck.HOWARD—6—Not a lot to do really, they had 14 shots, but only 2 on target.
BROWN–7–Defended well and glad that he is back.
McGAHEY—8—Won everything and did many clearances, good partnership with Onariase.
ONARIASE–9–MOM Also played very well, must be kept as midfield defence with McGahey.
ROWE—7–I thought that he had a very good game and is certainly a 1st teamer.
GILLIEAD–6–Started well, but not involved too much 2nd half.
SPENCE–7–Very much involved on most midfield play, has improved weekly.
EISA–8–Some tricky runs, two men put on him, great goal by him.
BEESTIN—8—Another good game for him, I like him in the team.
KVV–6—Not one of his better matches, hope he is not injured again.
LOFT–8—The best game played this season, hope it is signs of things to come.REF–7— Did ok, but did noy give Scunny a lot during the first hour, but certainly had a lot worse.
MANAGER—8—Team selection was as good as he could have selected, but although we got the points last night, he is far too defensive, TWO SHOTS at goal, with ONE SHOT on target, and one hitting the post.
A good £10 spent on the IPlayer viewing!!!
November 18, 2020 at 12:32 pm #197691I think Cox got it right last night, we sat back and they couldn’t break us down. I have a feeling if we went all out attack we would have been picked off.
Ideally we all want to see attacking football but I feel last night was one of those games we simply needed to dig in, they’re more than a decent side at this level. Top 6 side after 10 games so they were no mugs.
Also, we have a number of players who aren’t even fully match fit…they’ll get better with more games.
November 18, 2020 at 12:35 pm #197692Thanks guys for your player rating marks, it makes it worth while seeing your views, although most fans seem to have the same views of the players this week.

100% agree.
Sometimes performances like last night need to put be into context: experienced players with hardly any training/games behind them; sat in the relegation zone; manager under pressure.
I don’t want to be watching that in 3 months time IF we are sat mid-table, but last night was a crucial win.
November 18, 2020 at 1:10 pm #197698Previous 8 matches conceding 2 goals per game. 2 clean sheets and we have won 2 away matches. OK by me if we were hanging on last night, it worked.
Test now will be how we approach the home matches. Let’s hope that the team starts out on the front foot and is more positive now that the defence is looking more secure.
November 18, 2020 at 1:44 pm #197706My only criticism of Cox last night was starting Kev.
It was clear that he hadn’t recovered fully from Saturday (unsurprisingly) and if he’s got a muscle injury that’s not great news. McAttee or Hallam could have started instead.
Daft risk IMO.
