I appreciate life is all about opinions, but it is strange that all but two posters on here are pretty much agreed on most things contributing to the continued downward spiral in all things Scunthorpe United. The two opposing these views seem to have totally contrasting views that it’s difficult to believe they are not part of the infrastructure of the cclub or even tha same person.

Don’t jump to conclusions about supporting the team and the club just because people are unhappy with the current situation.

I was there last Saturday and will be there a week on Saturday. I will support the club and the team just as I have for 55 years despite living well away from the area for 35 of those years.

I would probably be trotting up to Carlisle on Saturday if we were not quite as painful to watch at the moment. Even then I will watch the inevitable defeat on iFollow.

Its because we care that we are so concerned about the state of the team and the club.

By the way who appointed you into the position of deciding what Iron supporters should think or do?

How do those not attending think they are helping the TEAM?

All I want is for people to go and support the team rather than making petty excuses for not going i.e tatty flags, dirty seats, drinks in plastic glasses etc.

Yes the team isn’t the best at present but I wonder how they’d react to positive crowd getting behind them.

Of course the last few seasons have been tough, what did you expect? We’ve had to let our high earners go to fit a sustainable model that so many of you wanted.

How many high earners have Harrogate and Forest Green got? How many at Accrington and Morecambe in L1?

Who was it gave them a high salary in the first place? Who was it handing out three year contracts to 30+ year olds? Who was it signing players with a record of injury problems?

Who was it playing hardball with mid season contract negotiations? Who was it who sacked a manager who had a bit of nous and appointed a yes man?

Who was it that alienated supporters and knocked a third of the gates in one fell swoop.

    Was it the fans?

    Alienated the supporters?

Are there really that many snowflakes about who hang onto every word Swann says as gospel?

I wonder if the use of the word “snowflakes” has provided us with a clue?

As I’ve said before I was here before the Swanns and I’ll be here after the Swanns.

Tatty flags, dirty seats, drinks in plastics glasses won’t tip me over the edge regarding supporting the TEAM!

“Yes the team isn’t the best at present but I wonder how they’d react to positive crowd getting behind them.”

Well here’s your answer to that question quoting Mark Lillis from the OWS:-
“The fans have been unbelievable this season.”
“Like I said after the game, it was unacceptable”

Anything else you need help with?

Said before those that want to go – then you go. Those like me who don’t does not mean we do not support the club.

But I am not putting another penny into wherever it goes !!
I have no trust in the leadership, we are being laughed at.

Yes the team isn’t the best at present but I wonder how they’d react to positive crowd getting behind them.

UptheIron99—–You ask this question, how do those that are not presently attending games think that they are helping the club? The answer to that is that supporters stay away, they might just get present things changed, how bloody long do you think that a team can go with just one win in 17 matches, and retain supporters???, especially if the football being presented is that bloody poor, has no entertainment value what so ever, and is unenjoyable to watch, answer your own question, “Are you enjoying watching SUFC” ????

I agree with you comments about plastic glasses, torn flags and dirty seating, but there is a quick fix to those issues, but three years watching the way our club has desended, to its present status of rock bottom, playing defensive rubbish, playing one up front in home games, having one shot on target during 90 mins, and for anyone to stand and cheer that shite would need to be a lunatic, and at the same time pay to be bored to bloody death.

Our yearly aim that the club have developped is to try and avoid relegation, what a sad situation to have now arrived at, after our TWO NEW STADIUMS, NEW FULLY REFURBISHED GP, OUR CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE STATUS, OUR 160 APPARTMENTS ETC ETC ETC. ZERO% HAS HAPPENED!!!, and all we have to see is that our stadium, car parks and training ground have been removed from the clubs assets after the owners ran up a so called £11 MILLION DEBT, ON TOP OF BORROWING ANOTHER MILLION FROM THE FA.

So please do as UTI99 tells you, and stand and shout your support for your team whilst they are getting stuffed 0-4 at home, then go home and kick feck out of your dog, but please do not blame the owners or the Manager and his brains trust team.

Happy to support us away from home but I’m not prepared to keep handing over money to the club at the moment. Each to their own, that’s my choice.

Look, in the past you might have had a point but over the last 30 years football clubs have decided they want customers instead of fans. They’ve put prices up massively compared with inflation. That’s their decision but if you do that, your customers are going to start wanting more in return for their money. If I go to watch Bottesford Town for £5, my expectations are very different to having to hand over £20+ at Glanford Park.

Look at it this way: if we’re trying to be “sustainable”, there are two ways to do that: cut costs & increase income. I can see the cost cutting but what is the club doing to increase income? At least the shirts seem better than the Rodwell era, that’s a step in the right direction. But compare us to a much smaller club like Accrington, where the owner makes community work the centre of everything they do, where they give shirts to every schoolkid in the town, where they spent last season investing in new facilities like a bigger bar, where the owner makes a real effort to engage with supporters.

Are you telling me we can’t compete with Accrington?

I’ll support the players on the pitch, it’s the people in the boardroom I’m angry with.

So what are you doing to help the team?
    Bought a season ticket
    Bought 3 replica kits
Meal in the restaurant before each game
    Food & drink at HT
    Parking at the ground
    Sponsoring players kit
    Sponsoring match/match ball

Well done, what are you getting in return?

With Manny back on Saturday and a much more solid back “five” a win will stop a lot of this critism a loss is likely to intensify it. Still not sure how we will score a goal though unless we are fortunate enough to get a penalty.

our team isn’t the best at present, but I wonder what would happen if they let the shackles off and let them go out and attack teams for 90 minutes and TRY TO SCORE SOME GOALS instead of trying to contain the opponents hoping for a lucky break and do the impossible and try to keep a clean sheet.

just remember, penalties for, sending offs against us and late winners don’t happen on a regular occasion, so 2 penalties is our quota for this season and a injury time equalizer will probably be has near to a winner for this season, and a player getting a red card against us is now even rarer than the other two, the last time was at the end of the game and we had one sent off as well.

There’s only one man to blame and it certainly isn’t Swanny for playing the way we are, no matter what players we have. Why do our managers have such big ego’s? Cox knows this system doesn’t work with the available squad, tried it last year it didn’t work trying it this year and still not working. He’s one stubborn thick man.

Cox is very much part of the problem. I can’t be bothered to work it out again but last season I posted a decent stat that showed around 88% of our points were gained when playing either 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1. Why does he continue to think that playing 5 at the back will work!?

Do you mean 3 years ago?

Of course the last few seasons have been tough, what did you expect? We’ve had to let our high earners go to fit a sustainable model that so many of you wanted.

As for this season, we’re 7 games into it. Maybe people should try turning up and getting behind the team, it might have a positive impact on their performances!

UTI99—You are one big wind up twat, but having said that. I actually think that you really beleive the owner loving shite you put on this forum.

Time after time you keep repeating the same old “get yourselves down to GP and cheer the lads on”, they do not do anything during the 90 mins that can be cheered on, they are just not league 2 class players, and are outclassed nearly every game, does one win in 17 matches suggest to you that there will be much cheering, and either one or no shots on target during the full game, and playing at home with one player standing up front suggest a buzzing crowd, wake up you bloody clown and continue to stand near the directors box cheering and clapping as you are asking us to do. The truth is that we no longer see any enjoyment in visiting GP with this management running this rubbish.

We have had many years during my 71 years supporting SUFC, but we have stuck by them during every season, but in this time I cannot remember any period of time when supporters moral has been so low, and it is getting worse week by week, season by season, and all pleasure as been removed in being a Scunthorpe supporter, it’s time for a big change, not by the fans, but this inept management lot, fans can do very little, only probably moan, but operation of a club should be in the hands of management, but fans see no action being taken by them.

Vadar—–I cannot see a win making a lot of difference pal, all it would do is make us the winner of 2 games in 18 instead of 1 game in 17, this is a pathetic record that would take more that that to change supporters minds. I know a few very long term hardened fans thath just will nt go, simply because you cannot gain any enjoyment by doing so. I am sure that if entry was free right now, they would not get 4,000 to attend, it is that bad.

Awaywego—–they are only repetitive because nothing ever changes at the club, so how is it possible to change my opinion????????????????????.
Present fans with some entertainment and we will attend, and sing the praises of the management and players but their efforts are making this impossible!!!

MK Iron—–I think you are wrong there mate, I feel sure I posted it in the past, but if you missed it pal, “YES IT IS TRUE THAT AFTER 70 YEARS ATTENDING THE SUFC GAMES, I AM NOT PRESENTLY GOING TO MATCHES”, I plan to go to the Scunny v Bradford City game to see how Gillead and Leroy are doing (thats if the game isn’t a sell out), I will get a ticket early to avoid this situation ha ha!!
