Eze departs Bolton for Sutton United after Iron loan cut short

Bolton Wanderers have recalled attacking midfielder Dubem Eze from his loan spell at Scunthorpe United to facilitate a permanent move to National League strugglers Sutton United.

The 20-year-old playmaker, who joined Bolton in the summer of 2024, has joined the U’s for an undisclosed fee marking a return to his South London roots.

Eze spent the first half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Scunthorpe United but found regular playing time hard to come by in the National League. He made just three league appearances for the Iron, though he did find success in cup competitions, notably scoring twice in an FA Trophy victory over Peterborough Sports.

With minutes limited at Glanford Park, Bolton exercised their option to recall Eze, allowing him to continue his career closer to home.

Speaking to Sutton United’s official channels, the midfielder expressed his delight at the move: “I’m over the moon.

“It feels like I’m back home, being from just around the corner. It’s good to be here and I’m excited to get started”.

The Iron were set to face Eze’s new side this weekend but the fixture has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Thank you to our partners for the 2025/26 season
