4 goals in 33 matches suggests he has a lot to learn and he won’t improve by not playing. Hope he was there last night watching and learning from Exeter’s Matt Jay who has 14 goals from 39 games this season.
“I must have missed something, when did passing to a teammate and shooting on target go out of fashion?”
Exeter and Cheltenham have shown us how to play, even at this level. Pass and move. We seem to struggle to make more than 2 or 3 consecutive passes.
Seems odd to me that you don’t understand that the vast majority of teams will have at least one stroppy player, probably more than one!
Midfield? Not needed, when the balls flying over their heads from Howard for the whole match. I bet Howard had more kicks of the ball than any outfield player.
Back to hoof ball up to Loft again who wins nothing. Madness!

I have checked, it was “Did you play a lot of football Awaywego?”
Did you play a lot of football Awaywego?
My comment on the other thread was the only time I saw him in the 6 yard box was when he helped to put their goal in the net. No more free kicks 40 yards out, throw ins or corners. O’ Malley and Gillead are perfectly capable to do these duties.
Fair marks BS, but agree with the others that Spence was the MOM.
KVV should be told to leave the corners and long range free kicks to others. Can’t understand a striker not wanting to be in the box when we have set pieces. He was in the 6 yard box for their goal!!
“Thought Beestin scored BS”.
No, it was Beedtin!!
I also don’t understand the defensive mentality. The risk of relegation has reduced. The players should be confident given recent wins. The 3rd goal on Saturday was a great shot, but the 1st goal was a team goal of fast attacking first touch football. More of that play needed, we have forwards with pace.
If we had started the match like we played in the second half, the result could have been different.
He was!!

You are right shooter, it was a poor match and we didn’t do enough attacking. Strong wind probably helped to spoil the game, plus through not playing we had dropped to 20th. Too cautious but our defence looks good and we needed the 3 points!!
Apart from scoring 2 from 2 attacks!!
If it’s the same Rochdale game, I remember that there was freezing fog. Only knew that Rochdale had scored again at the Fox Street end was when they all came back to kick off again. Happened at least 4 times!!
“Orange lines, orange ball?”
Orange bibs?
Doubt this will go on much longer.
Look at me ma, top of the world!!

Underground, overground wombling free…
We will find out in the next few matches whether his improvement can continue.
Probably because they were not penalties!
The ref gave a free kick outside the box every time a Colchester player fell over when tackled. There were a couple of tackles in the box, Manny and I think Green that the ref would have given a foul outside the box.
Playing as a defender is getting more difficult every season. Can’t tackle, can’t let the ball hit your arm.
We have defended so well in the last 3 matches, I can’t remember Howard having to make a difficult save in any of the games.
Happy to pretty much agree with you BS! You missed out Spence who also played well when he came on. Onariase was worth more than 10. It has been good to see them all working hard and playing as a team. Let’s hope we can build on a more reliable defence and attack a bit more in the next couple of games.
Ref was shocking, didn’t allow any tackles. I thought he was going to give a couple of penalties and there was nothing wrong with the tackle before Eisa “scored”.

The only thing worth listening to is the Colchester fans are making the same moans and comments that we’ve had for the last 2-3 years.
Alcy, I have to inform you that in the last few matches I’ve seen, there was a bloke called Karacan playing for the Iron in midfield. Do you think Swanny might have had anything to do with that?
Spence will benefit and so will Beestin who was able to drive forward a lot more to support the front 3 against Grimsby. Come on Swanny, try to get Karacan signed up for next 2 years with the captain’s arm band!!
“we will never know”.
We do know, they didn’t. The defence is looking far more reliable, Taft and Karacan have made a big difference, far fewer daft mistakes.
I do agree that Cox starts to have more confidence in the team to keep hold of the ball and play well for 2 halves.
But they have 3 matches in 6 games, we have 2 good wins, so they should get some credit.
Think he will quickly become the key player in the team. Is he signed till the end of the season or is he on a longer contract?

Practice definitely needed, quality crosses from Gillead and O’Malley today.
Very happy that Loft proved me wrong today, but agree with Les about the headers he missed. Rest of the team did well and we have made good January signings in Taft and Karacan. Did BS see Howard catch the ball 4 times in one match?
