AWG not a fan of the Sharpe/Elliott combo.
Or facts!
Must have slept through that Ferrite Siderite didn’t realize people were quing up to buy us, bids what bids Swann only wanted a £ for the club and whatever for the ground and Swanny was never going to move on that which we can all agree was fair enough, you cant rewrite history im afraid.
You may indeed have slept through it, not remember the Sharp-Elliott bid where they even made a downpayment?
Highest bid that ultimately didn’t matter, because much of that was for the stadium and he pretty much immediately found excuses for that with the ‘ransom strip’ that was miraculously fixed easier than it was made out when Harness bought it. Almost as if it was an excuse by Hilton.
Quite. In very basic terms, the highest number isn’t always the best offer.

“The company’s most recent accounts, published in December, show an operating loss of US$1.04 billion during 2022”
Blimey!
£15 a month if you sign up for a year, £25/month if you just sign up month-to-month. Another laughably expensive TV subscription.
Be interesting to know how much they’re paying, 7 years is a bloody long TV deal and DAZN have been reported to be making redundancies over the last year.
I’m amazed that 64 isn’t raging about American “cookies” being marketed instead of “biscuits”.
I didn’t realise they’d got rid of them, was that a Hilton or Swann “improvement”?
I haven’t bought a programme in decades, I don’t really see the point of them in the internet age, but I know they’re important to many people.
As for Hilton hes gone and for now i trust quote “enjoying his life away from football” though im sure hes harboring thoughts of where next to have a go next.
I’ll be surprised if he comes back to football again, I think he was genuinely taken back by the level of attention & scrutiny a club of our size brings with it.
No idea, the fun* lies in finding out.
*fun not guaranteed.
He paid the bills till obviously he said he would stop, just the same as Swanny.
Is that true?
If any team at a realistic level need to match Fitz’s wages then they will probably not be looking to pay a fee. Would we let him go on a free to save the money?
Yes, I reckon transfer fees are pretty negligible at this level and I assume he’s only got a year left on his contract anyway.
From what I have seen of Roberts, he’s clearly a good player, but in many ways he makes us quite easy to play against because he always cuts back into traffic. Teams that want to defend deep against us will be happy with that.
My source tells me they’re looking to save Fitz’s 2k a week. 5 players make up 50% of the wage bill, him being one!
The guy who left Chesterfield, a kick away from promotion to the Football League, to sign for Hilton’s Mercenaries? Aye, I reckon we should be looking at offers for him, tbh.
Somebody wrote that and thought it OK,
No mention of season ticket holdersWhat’s not OK with it?
It is for many mate, certainly in my industry and steelworkers. Not all industries have stop periods.Shops in town all will be open. Warehouses to supply shops are now a big part of our local.economy they don’t have stop periods.
Sure, I appreciate many people will be *able* to go to work but equally plenty of folk will be on annual leave anyway.
I always used to work that period when I had a proper job because you could get more done and people with kids wanted the time off. But in general if you want time off in the Christmas-New Year “perineum” I reckon you’ll probably be able to get it.
I cannot for the life of me understand why you’re so outraged about this. To claim December 31st is a normal working day simply isn’t true. Many people may work, plenty of others don’t. I reckon it’ll be a success.
It is a terrible idea, it’s very much a standard working day for many. Some people have a lot of Friday’s off, shall we start moving games to 3pm on a Friday too?
Yes, let’s take a perfectly reasonable decision, one which has been clearly explained by the club giving good reasons, and just make up something nonsensical.
FWIW, I’m self-employed so I don’t get paid days off at any point, not even bank holidays, but you won’t hear me being outraged about this.
The Kidderminster game is an evening kick-off. Not my preference but not an outrageous decision.
A game on New Year’s Eve at 3pm is a good idea I reckon, lots of people are off work anyway, can use the game as the starting point of their NYE celebrations, rather than being dragged out of their beds on New Year’s Day. I agree that a bit of explanation of the thinking behind the change would be good but I don’t think it’s a terrible idea, personally.

Getting the scallys to behave is the tough one, wonder how many flare attacks will take place this coming season?
“Flare attacks”!
These videos are wonderful, it’s such a great feeling to feel proud of our club again.
I hope the fella with the neck tattoos is better than the last one, Jack King.
How many clubs will be expecting to finish above us?
Personally, I find that quite a narrow minded article based on stereotypes that do nothing but shore up an opinion that a manager, who despite being so good to guide crap England to semis and finals, wouldn’t be touched by top clubs or the nations with prestigious histories in tournaments. If France don’t succeed they wouldn’t touch Gareth with a barge pole, even if they get over the nationality issue.
I think it’s a clearly provocative article but it’s intention is, to my mind, to get people to think about WHY they have such high expectations of this group of players and how they view a manager who has been the most successful for England in the last 60 years.
This sums up my thoughts perhaps better than I have done on this thread:
https://www.football365.com/news/southgate-klopp-england-exactly-the-same-john-nicholson
It just feels like a film we’ve seen for decades – over-hyped “great” players who are apparently wonderful but who lack the technical ability to shine in an England shirt – hence why England players can’t keep the ball and end up giving it away cheaply in games. And yesterday was a real prime example of it. Rice was awful in possession, looked like someone pulled out of the stands to play, then there’s the fact that there are apparently only 2 English left-backs in the top flight, both of whom are injured. The goalkeeper doesn’t fill me with confidence either but where’s the competition there?
We can blame the manager all we like, and we clearly won’t be in the job after the end of the tournament, whenever that comes, but unless the game addresses the reasons behind the slim pickings in key areas (GK, LB, CB, CM) then I don’t see how things can improve massively. It’s all very well complaining that Grealish or that boy from Chelsea or whoever haven’t been picked but the issues run much deeper than that.
Can we have someone come on and tell me Southgate is doing a good job?
While you’re at it convince me why I am being unrealistic to expect we could do better than snatch a lucky draw against a team of reasonable Championship standard?
I’d point at Southgate’s record of semis & a final as being in the “credit” side of the ledger.
Yesterday wasn’t great and he has questions to answer but equally most of the players in that team couldn’t make a simple pass. Saka’s final ball was atrocious, I don’t think he found a teammate with a single cross. Foden looked better but shot wildly over when through on goal. Kane can’t/won’t move. These things can’t really be laid at the manager’s door and just shows how massively over-rated a lot of England’s players are.
Also, don’t most of Denmark’s team play in the Premier League too?
Are you still allowed to park on Gunness straight? If not where can you park to get a prompt exit to Gunness or the M181 please?
You could last season as long as you’re fully off the road, which isn’t easy as there are potholes so deep you could hide in them.
I can see parallels between Grealish and McManaman – both exciting youngsters who could beat a man and “make things happen” but who both had that coached out of them at big clubs, their trophy-winning success coming at the price of their individual flair.
I have a theory that there has never been a good Puma shirt and their efforts at this tournament haven’t changed my mind.
The Adidas stripes suit the Italian shirt quite well, I reckon.
Agreed. Grealish has more competition than Shaw ..and I definitely think a fit Grealish would be a great option for any team at the Euros. I don’t know so much about his off field stuff but probably don’t think it’s affected his selection. Could be wrong but I think it’s down to lack of game time at City plus all our ‘riches’ being midfield and attack.
Has Grealish ever done anything in an England shirt? I can’t recall much. He has been neutered as a player at Citeh, he just dribbles slowly forwards and then passes it 5 yards sideways.
