There was a Auto Windscreens game at home to Carlisle in the late 90s/early 00s which was abandoned at half time, if memory serves due to a frozen pitch.

If you have been to all that many non league grounds you should know full well all your games will involve segregation…. and bit have to wonder about it?
Not many grounds at the levels I’ve been to have had segregation other than for certain games. For example, I’ve only seen it twice at Gainsborough I think, in 20-30+ visits.
Very few games in our league are ticket matches, and think you will find the same now you have dropped down another league, you may find Scunthorpe are the exception because of your large away fan base, last season the only one I remember was ticket, your first game this year at Tamworth.
Yep but away games don’t matter for the purposes of our catering, do they?
You don’t need to lecture me on non-league football, I’ve been to dozens of non-league grounds all over the country, I know what to expect. Will be interesting to see if segregation is enforced at all our games and – as you indicate – for the first time in our history it might be tricky to get tickets for the away end for a Scunthorpe game.
The weather, and the attendance, being major factors. when I first started catering for large crowds I got it wrong more times than right, but the mistakes are what give you the experience to get the balance right by being very much on the ball watching the supporters carefully before kick off, if you see damn well it’s going to be packed you have up till half time (the rush hour) to quickly prep as much as possible, meaning if you do have some waste it is not so bad because you have taken a good few quid.
Virtually every game these days is pre-ticketed – the vast majority of tickets are sold in advance, so clubs have a pretty good idea of how many will turn up.
Reasonable question you ask, but the outside caterers would charge far more to the supporters for the food, I have witnessed that at many grounds where this happens, the club usually charge them an agreed fee for the pitch so the caterers over charges to cover it.
Depends how you structure the contract: do they pay a fee, meaning they have to recover that fixed cost before making any profit? Or do you do it like a franchise where you set the prices but rely on another company’s expertise, economies of scale & staffing structure to leave them headroom for a profit?
The last bloke was good at talking about problems, let’s see if the new guy is better at fixing them.

Yeah, the local stations are really getting hollowed out with all of the cuts forced on the Beeb, a real shame.
I think the DAB broadcast is only local.
I do think it’s daft that the EFL won’t let local radio stations broadcast their games on the BBC digital platforms, makes no sense.
That was certainly the case for us last season Rich, for someone living outside the Humberside FM area it was very handy to be able to listen to games online.
When you start deleting information which is readily available in the public domain, as I demonstrated in my post, it sets a dangerous precedent because people will consider you to be part of the problem, rightly or wrongly. As I said to a few people last week, it doesn’t really come as a surprise to me, especially after reading SST’s post on 11/07/23 regarding his conversation with Hilton. Furthermore, there is nothing in the way of consistency when it comes to the moderating of the site. I could direct the moderators to a contributor on here who is throwing surnames about left, right, and centre with absolutely no supporting evidence and his/her posts remain live.
The number of people who’ve whinged about the moderators on this site grows by the day.
Perhaps if you’d been around in the days when the people running this site were getting regular legal threats for the messages posted on here, you might be more sympathetic.
Remember that republishing something which was originally stated elsewhere is not a defence against a libel accusation.
I very much doubt it, the same as The National League won’t be televising any of those games either games either.
Why would you doubt it? I can’t see anything has changed for Humberside when it comes to covering SUFC.
I thought this thread might have come back to the top because Our Leader had given a new interview to the radio or TV but apparently not, silly me.
It looks like they are saying they won’t have cameras at the sat 3pm games for the north/south though so they won’t be available internationally which means no getting around it to watch unfortunately.
Where have you seen that? The website says the following but I guess it may only apply to the conference:
Games taking place during UEFA Blocked Hours (generally kicking off at 3pm) are available outside the UK, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands only.
This doesn’t work. I’ve tried it and a msg comes up saying it is not allowed/ possible to connect to another source from laptop/ iPad. The only way if you have smart a TV is connect your vpn through the tv then connect via the browser
Good luckIf you’re streaming off your computer, you should be able to plug that into your TV via an HDMI or VGA cable. But Airplay should work if your TV is compatible, casting from your phone or ipad.
To ground share would be disastrous to the club, nearly 1400 season ticket holders wouldn’t all be able to travel and non season ticket holders wouldn’t go out of their way to either.
I don’t think people always realise how important the force of habit is for keeping people going to games. Break that and you will soon see a drop-off. Fans are creatures of habit, their routines are important, whether it’s where they drink pre- or post-match, where they park, when they head out to the game. Change that and you can easily see people find other ways to spend their Saturdays.
Let’s hope they’re taking time to clean the seats, unlike under the previous regime!
Not so much VAR as the fact that they keep changing the laws on offside and handball every season.
Use the system or not it still boils down to human error.
But the laws are being changed to cope with the level of analysis that VAR imposes. That is why we are seeing goals given/disallowed which would never have been the case without VAR and its lines. Equally, with handball, a perfectly innocent arm position in normal team suddenly looks incredibly guilty in 1/8th speed replays.
If VAR didn’t exist, we wouldn’t be seeing these law changes.
And let’s be honest, VAR is a product for the TV viewer, it has absolutely nothing to do with people who actually go to games.

Ignorant question but did Hilton built Ilkeston’s current ground and does the club own it?
I know nothing about the club beyond the cup tie we played there in 98.
Correct Bobby G – pre-season results simply don’t count or matter. Hell, even the first few games of the season don’t matter that much either come May.

I know myself and many more from up Darlo are looking forward to coming back to Glanford Park (My last visit was the 7-1 defeat where we finished with 9 men), but seen the issues and just curious to where you might end up playing if PS doesn’t allow the club to play at Glanford Park.
Ah the great Paul Alcock – one of the men he sent off was Barry Conlon I think?
I don’t know if you know but the following season, Alcock returned and reduced Carlisle to 8 men and sent off manager Ian Atkins too – how we never built a statue to him, I’ll never know!
Where do Darlo play these days? I assume Feethams is housing now?
I’m not sure if he does or doesn’t have the money, but if you read the article fully, Swann wants the 1.5 million pounds before dealing with the legal issues highlighted in the article. No one in the right mind would ever put that money forward.
Is that what the article actually says?
The proof of funds in general seems ridiculously flawed ,otherwise all these clubs that end up in mess would not be .
I have heard it mentioned by quite a few people that a requirement for new club owners should be to put a % of the funds down on the purchase of clubs , like a deposit which is held in a neutral account much like used in housing rentals / mortgage etc .
Does not sound a bad idea in theory , and would in some scenarios offer clubs a degree of protection .
Yep, some sort of performance bond. In other countries, clubs are required to lodge a bond (usually backed by a bank) with the authorities to cover the operating costs of the club for the season. Then, if the club runs into financial difficulties during the season, the bond is called on and the club can continue at least until the end of the season.
Other systems include required the club to submit a business plan & accounts before the start of the season to ensure that clubs can operate within their means for the season. If they can’t/don’t, they’re kicked out.
I thought that much would have been obvious. 3 additional players signing next week, blah blah blah…fast forward a week or so, no players.
Do we really need any more players though?
Anyone know the collective noun for a bunch of arseholes?
A Facebook group?

July 13, 2023 at 11:06 am in reply to: https://caseboard.io/cases/4fba849c-6555-4b9a-8d07-b6bb74d0b054 #266496The one meagre positive is that if it’s heard within a month, we won’t have a cloud of anxiety over this if this was months down the line. The negative is that it gives short time for the two egos to come to terms.
I wonder if the die hards on social media, who refused to believe that post came from Swann, are still clinging on to that delusion.
Except that is after the season starts, will the NL let us begin with such doubt over our future?
None of us know the truth of what was – and wasn’t – agree between the parties, presumably that is what the court will have to establish?
Does make you wonder, doesn’t it?
Morecambe, Wigan and Reading in dire positions too. Is the football bubble starting to burst?
Feel for their supporters.
Not sure if the bubble is bursting, each of those clubs has had very dubious ownership – we have to look at who we are allowing to take over our football clubs and frankly overhaul the whole “rich sugardaddy” model which has brought us so many problems.
There’s a pretty chunky loan on the books, do we know what it might be for?
Jeez and I thought the last bloke had a thin skin…
See Daves just gave someone a club ban on the Facebook page
Where have you seen that? Not spotted it myself.
I am not sure who to believe at the moment however, one thing I will mention is that everyone keeps thinking buying the stadium and land is just about money.
The reality of the situation is, no one in the right mind would buy the stadium and land when, there is an unregistered strip in the middle between the ground and training pitch which, could be used in future to hold the club to ransom.
I’ve seen this mentioned a few times but have we seen any evidence to support these claims?
So a 14 year olds opinion doesn’t count? At what age is the younger persons opinion worth listening to? Maybe there’s an age limit before opinions aren’t worth considering? For some it seems we’re either too young or too old to have a valid opinion. I wear specs not blinkers.
Well you can’t vote until you’re 18, so that’s one measure of it.
Whatever the rights and wrongs on either side, I would urge both parties to find a swift solution in the interests of the club & its fans.

He’s responded to someone saying he was unaware a supporters club existed
If only there was some way of checking that before posting his ramblings.
