as a footnote the Farsley lad won his appeal … IMO both were as bad as each other and the Farsley player did try a sneaky stamp first.
Is that right? How on earth did they come to that conclusion?

That’s 10 points dropped needlessly, no wonder we can’t shake Tamworth off!
It’s one way of looking at it, but you risk turning a strength into a weakness: equally, you could say we usually score first, we don’t lose if we do, and we are putting ourselves in a strong position.
I can’t agree that it’s points dropped “needlessly” – the other team is allowed to play well too. If we equalise having gone behind, is that just because the opposition have “needlessly” let us score?

Feels like an expensive luxury having loans like him when you consider the number of similar players we have on the books already.
Was that one of the tribunal sales SST?
By all means install a youth set up once we’re back on track financially but we’re a long way from that.
Yeah, I realise it won’t happen in the immediate future but it shouldn’t be something that is overlooked for too long. After all, despite Hilton’s claims, these things do tend to pay for themselves in the long-term.
What it will come down to is what we can afford. There’ll be ‘nice to haves’ that just don’t fit within the sustainable budget.
In the sort term, that’s definitely right, but I’m talking a bit more longer term.
Duane Holmes?
I couldn’t remember the circumstances of that one, was it a panic end-of-contract sale? Or an offer that was too good to refuse?
In recent years any that got anywhere near a decent fee earned we managed to give away.
Who was the last player we sold for a decent fee? Sam Winnall? Hakeeb Adelakun? Murray Wallace?
Any names come to mind?
Mark Samways?
Ebay’s a good starting point for old football kits. Or if you want something a bit different but lasting, try TOFFS.

You’re right but we take whoever who wants a trial and see what they’re like as it does no harm. Include local-ish championship youngsters too.
That’s fair, however I would not want that sort of panning-for-gold approach to replace a proper youth system. For me, you have to think what the point of a club like ours is, and I think it should include offering local youngsters the chance to play football and receive coaching.
We may have to face the reality that we could end up being a selling club for a decade?
Sell to survive?
For a decade? It’s been the basis for the club for most of its history.

Hilton said at the time instead of the academy all we would have to do is take in countless premier league released youngsters on trial every pre season and run the rule over them and see what they have to offer.
Any of them impress then we offer contracts accordingly. No way is it worth the huge expense of running an academy in the hope we unearth a few more squad players.
Apart from the fact that Scunthorpe United will be a long way back in that queue for anyone worth signing!

As for being the leading scorer, if he took a few more of his many chances he would now be approaching the 30 mark nfor this season.
If that were the case, he’d never have signed for a 6th tier club. Be realistic.
The system we used at Gainsborough seemed to work OK for him.
If we can find a system that involves playing against teams from lower leagues, then I’m all for it! Personally, I have seen very little from Elliott but he must have something to offer looking at his pedigree.
Genuinely one of the funniest things I’ve seen on a football pitch.
We’ll miss him, Elliott is a poor fit for our system.
Can we recall Bennett and/or Carver?
Even if we wanted to, I doubt the club would want to take the financial hit involved in doing so.
What outcome would you like to see?
Apart from that incident involving di Canio when did you last see a British official struck?
Former Iron David Prutton shoved over a lino when playing for Southampton.
It happens quite a bit at amateur levels, fortunately we’ve yet to see it at professional & semi-pro levels. The entitlement of fans, particularly at the higher levels, about refereeing decisions is completely ludicrous. Everyone things refs are against them, everyone thinks there’s a conspiracy, everyone thinks that they are justified in haranguing referees. You see/hear it less at our level but it’s still there.
Good luck to Chapman, surprised he’s ended up at Retford, hopefully that spinal injury hasn’t affected him too much.
He didn’t particularly impress me during his few games with us but there are plenty of players who’ve been poor here before doing well elsewhere.
Heroes with feet of clay. Like seeing Peter Beagrie up in court.
Deciding on a sin bin offense will just morph into another element of the game for the officials to get wrong.. a la VAR.
Officials don’t get things “wrong”, they make decisions you disagree with. Look at the laws, they’re almost exclusively based on the referee’s opinions.
Which is, of course, why VAR doesn’t work and never will.
Hull City have banned one of their fans doing vlogs, but they’re a more professional operation than we are right now.
I remember they also tried to kick someone out for texting his girlfriend on some flimsy anti-betting rules.
Southport can sign Carver on a perm contract to get him completely off the books. Smith will end up going back to Hearts as well. Going by what Dean was told I think all those just about cover it.
But CAN Southport sign Carver without him agreeing to a wage cut?
Equally, are we paying something/anything for Smith?Harvey Bunker, Sean Shields, Billy Fewster, Gerry McDonagh, Jake Leake???
Is Fewster still being chased by Premier League clubs?
Were just seemingly random one-offs? Seems odd for Scottish clubs to come down mid-season for a friendly game, especially back then.

Wharton, Fenty, every tom dick or harry normally walk away with money when they move the club along to a new owner that’s why and Swann shouldn’t be expected to be any different.
Why?
To Want and expect Swann to walk away with nothing was not being fair
Why?
Remember though: there’s no gland in Glanford!
My view is that Dean probably isn’t good enough but there’s no way the club can afford to be sacking managers at the moment, and nor should it, so we have to accept it and get behind him as best we can.
I remember after the P’boro sports game stating that the sense of expectation in the ground was palpable, never really experienced that as a Scunny fan. Unfortunately for Dean, we are expected to win every game with the players he has at his disposal.
I know what you mean but I think we had a significant number of fans with very high expectations in the first half of the Swann era – demanding constant signings, wanting managers sacked when 5th in League 1…
Noticed Dean was getting a bit of stick on social media last night, and the club in one post, though I think ‘SUFC, you’ve ruined my f***ing life’ is a bit dramatic. Even I don’t think that and I’m a right misery.
We definitely don’t need to import that sort of entitled Premier League mentality to our level.
