Mine was a 1981(iirc), Ford Escort MkIII.
Had a new exhaust every year.
Three new starters.
Four new batteries.
Two alternators.
Three new automatic chokes and a full new carburettor with automatic chokes.
Two new water pumps.
Two new radiators.
And finally, the engine seized and it had a new engine.
And during that time, despite having electronic ignition, it was an incredibly poor starter.
Sadly, finances at the time meant we had to keep it (in total, ten years), and just accept the repair bills.
Put me off Fords, having had nothing but, previously.
