Blocking laws made in the Scottish parliament seems a bad move,it took the a while to come up with an excuse to block something that they’d vetoed in their minds already Tory right wing grounds that could possibly sound democratic didn’t it?

Meanwhile the Scottish Parliament refused to listen to those who disagreed with this policy (2/3rds, apparently), so cannot claim to be the beacon of fairness.

I think the issue is that this law has reaching consequences across the England-Scotland border. The fairness of this is debateable, but it’s a joke that the SNP have done this over the apparent urgent need for kids to be able to seek transition, with all the medical problems that entails, and to be able to change legal gender quicker than it takes for Iron fans to protest.

While they refused to listen to activists who disagreed and didn’t bother to think of how this might impact the whole of the UK.

Why is supporting women’s rights anti-trans? And since when did we only decide that one view is only permissible in society? If women are saying this impacts their rights, why is it fair for them to be ignored?

The Scottish parliament included a vote allowing sex criminals to be able to change gender easily and access women’s prisons, where we have already seen issues. So it’s anti-trans to oppose making sex crimes against women easier? Got it.

This is the nub of the problem. Those making out criticism is ‘anti-trans’ have nothing to say about women wanting their own space in sport and to have their own sex spaced places where they are more vulnerable from male violence. They dress that up as being ‘anti-trans’. I just think they’re anti-woman, but they don’t seem to care about that.

“While they refused to listen to activists who disagreed and didn’t bother to think of how this might impact the whole of the UK”.

A bit rich the Tories making a stand against this line of policy making.

Two wrongs don’t make a right, and England doesn’t have a devolved parliament, so any law in the Commons doesn’t create these issues between different British countries.

It didn’t take long for Sturgeon’s stupidity to catch up with her now a violent male, claiming to be a woman, has been housed in a women’s prison and she’s scrambling around trying to reverse ferret. So, now transwomen are women, unless they’re a rapist who embarrasses Sturgeon. She’s have been quite happy with this at any other time, but is now rambling on about risk assessment checks.

If transwomen are women, and we’re all bigots for thinking otherwise, why do they need risk assessment checks? They would be automatically put in the women’s prison. It just shows that they know males pose a risk to women, no matter what they identify as, and all this faux-outrage at ‘transphobia’ is just an attempt to silence cognitive dissonance while they push through the unacceptable.

For the record, here is the photo of the rapist, who I am showing such disgusting anti-trans bigotry against:

This is what people have complained about for years, only to be called bigots.

I’m with you 100% on this one, Siderite. Common sense has gone out the window. It’s all getting rather ridiculous.

    It’s all getting rather silly:

Sturgeon probably thought it would all blow over now the previous one got dealt with, no matter how it contradicted her stance.

The infuriating thing about this is that all the time it was warned about, it was ignored because it was ‘bigotry’. All attempts to say this could happen and endanger women was dismissed as ‘weaponising’. Well, I hope those self-righteous people are mature enough to own this. This is the result of ‘just wanting trans rights’ and being on the ‘right side of history’ that I have heard from Owen Jones and co.

I have not said that, but have been made out to be an anti-trans bigot because I don’t want these apparent ladies posing a risk to women. Saying that men who identify as women, but obviously aren’t, is not hate.

This is not about saying that all or even the majority of trans people are like this, but just as with any men, there will be predators. We have women’s prisons precisely because of this. Allowing some males in because of identities puts women at risk, as this shows.

None of this means I think trans people are all horrible or need picketing. Nor does that answer why these people should be in women’s prisons.

People pretending their agenda is protection to cover their bigotry

So male rapists don’t pose a threat to women? Including one who continued to attack women from prison? And it’s bigotry to think of protecting those at risk, because it might hurt the rapist’s feelings?

‘People pretending their agenda is protection to cover their bigotry’

Sweeping generalisation. Some maybe are, but it’s unfair to tar everyone with the same brush. Bit like how it’s unfair to label everyone who voted Leave a bigot, although we know for a fact some undoubtedly are.

There is danger when placing genetically male criminals in a female prison, this is blatantly obvious. But then there are risks to women when using public toilets, if ‘former men’ are allowed to use them. Then there is the terrible unfairness posed when the old trannies are allowed to take part in women’s sports.

I know a few trans people, both in the pubs and at work. I attended the funeral of a transvestite who died of Covid a couple of years ago. He had many friends, and I am proud to say I was one of them. I’m no transphobe…

‘old trannies are allowed to take part in women’s sports.’

Eh? Do you mean ‘transgender males’ allowed to take part in women’s sports? You complain about an OP on another thread being dehumanising and then drop the bigoted ‘old trannies’. At least you’re consistent 🤣

I think that’s a reference to Laurel Hubbard who managed to compete in Olympic weightlifting, despite being unfit, less practiced and twice the age of the other female competitors.

Poor choice of language, which I wouldn’t use, but LK’s message is not objectionable. Men have a significant advantage over women and it’s not bigoted to think that women should have fairness, unless you think women are beneath men in worthiness of respect.

‘it’s not bigoted to think that women should have fairness, unless you think women are beneath men in worthiness of respect.’

It’s not, no, and no, I don’t think women are beneath men, so I’d prefer it if you didn’t imply it, thanks. I think LK used a turn of phrase a bigot would use. Nothing more, nothing less.

I wasn’t referring to you. I was saying it for clarity, so it can be mad evident to others who seem to think it is bigotry. My use of ‘you’ was intended to be a general form of you, not a reference to yourself, but rereading my last comment, I can see how it can be mistaken for such.

Try using ‘one’ instead of ‘you’ in that case.

Anyhow, good that LK has introduced ‘old trannies’ to the lexicon. Add it to the ‘old slags’ or whatever it was he used for describing women who camped at Greenham Common. Nice.

I am allowed to make a mistake aren’t I? Good grief. I didn’t mean any harm on your end and owned up to it. Of course I realise my own choice of language should have been better, but surely now I have cleared it up there’s no need for any irritation or hostility.

Just a suggestion to try using ‘one’ instead of ‘you’. Nothing hostile about that. Thanks.

Maybe I was misreading your tone. I took it to be one of irritation. I realised that I should have used ‘someone’ after my mea culpa, but it’s too late to change the post now. All I can do is own up and try to do better next time.

That’s what I mean. I get the original irritation, but surely there’s no need now I said it was my own bad choice of wording, nothing more. I have no reason to label those charges against you, but realise my wording implied such.

Anyway, no point dragging this on any further from my end.

I said ‘the old trannies,’ perhaps I have spent too much of my life down here, and picked up some of the local dialogue. My point about the inclusion of trans people who were born male in some female sports stands. Constantly pulling me up on semantics won’t work on me..
