Always amuses me to think that some people believe that Crusaders had a uniform.

All that’s missing from the surcoat is a Nike “swoosh”!

Are they quoting a poem about an England that never existed that they’d just heard on TV before a rugby match?

The only nostalgia this thread has engendered in me is a longing for the days when we were taught punctuation. Please get those sentences sorted out.

My first thought was he is holding the bat the wrong way round. There is also a historical inaccuracy.

Standing with your bat in the air, as they do in baseball, didn’t really start until Gooch and co in the 1980s.

Cricket nerd! Hope the punctuation meets the JI standard.

Reading some JI posts over recent yearas the word standard does seem a little OTT, a few misplaced colon’s hear and there seem quite amusing by comparison.

    “a few misplaced colon’s”

As I ger older, I often wonder if my colon has gone missing. Bit like Jimmy Dean, not doing the job right.

Full stop rather than comma after OTT, IA. The end of a sentence and all that. Even worse is the apostrophe in colons. It’s plural not possessive you see.
No offense intended. I was just trying to help you since you have schooled me so expertly on US politics, faith issues and the complexities of the Middle East. Least I could do.

Your starting to bite again JI, bet you’ll be running away soon for another short break, again.

No hard feelings. I just got drawn in.
(‘You’re’ not your. Full stop after JI then a capital letter. No comma before again.)
I think your advice is good. I should stay away and will do my best.

Lol, ‘you’re’ morphing in to my first venture on to an Iron forum back in around 2000-1. Can’t even remember what the site was called but I was ‘The Grammar Checker’, and later ‘Feg’. ‘The Ref’ would post too. My sole purpose seemed to be telling people off for bad grammar and criticising the increasingly poor defending of Russ Wilcox. Happy, simpler days :)

Been fishing over the winter JI? Literally I mean, not on here. Just teasing, but have you?

Been intending to … but haven’t been since October. I always buy a rod licence but only manage 4 or 5 times each year. Thank goodness for ‘The Ginger Fisherman’ et al on You Tube to give me some kind of ‘fix.’

Not seen that. Will take a look. Cheers. Not been since mid autumn either. Warming up slightly now so I’ll be going soon. Need the banks to dry out a bit first.
