March 2, 2026 at 9:58 am #316972If all games kicked off at 3pm on a Saturday no one would get revved up.
TV money more important obviously.

I think you might be surprised in the next few years – Ramadan typically moves forward approximately ten days in the calendar each year (starts 8th Feb next year), so stoppages in 3pm fixtures will be increasingly likely.
The less tolerant will presumably get extremely wound up, despite probably somehow managing to cope with fake injuries to goalkeepers to allow players to have a drink.

March 2, 2026 at 12:03 pm #316977were Maccabi players observing Ramadan?
March 2, 2026 at 12:31 pm #316979I always thought Maccabi had Jewish roots. Maybe I’ve got that wrong, but Ramadan is an Islamic observance, so I’m a bit confused how that would relate?

If you’re attempting tit for that, at least try using a more appropriate comparison. The main grouping of people criticised over that were West Midlands Police for exaggerating the evidence. So much so non-Muslim Chief Constable Craig Guildford resigned over it.Just to remind you, because you seem a bit muddled:

And there was me thinking it was the Muslim MP and associated groups putting pressure on the police, which worked by the way to not allow fans to attend the game purely on their different faith.1 user thanked author for this post.
March 2, 2026 at 2:20 pm #316989I don’t think we should judge Muslim players based on the actions of some in their religion. I don’t see what the Maccabi farce has to do with a short drinks break for players.
March 2, 2026 at 2:34 pm #316994I don’t see what introducing a drinks break as to do with football, unless the game is played in high temperatures and humidity.
If left well alone as it should have been they’d be nothing to see.March 2, 2026 at 2:48 pm #316996Probably because those fasting benefit from hydration when they can, there shouldn’t be anything offensive about a short drink break and outrage over small things is tedious.
March 2, 2026 at 5:13 pm #317002just logging on to say i cant believe the Ranmadam break bs .. bearing in mind im stuck in a Middle Eastern pleasure zone cos of the current war when will the Western world grow a set of balls and stamp out all this shit.

March 2, 2026 at 5:50 pm #317005“I bet he EFL make a quicker decision on Ramadan breaks they they do 3 up 3 down 5555.” I am going out on a limb and am going to suggest that allowing 3 team to slide out of the league might just get some push back from all involved inn the league ,whereas having a water break which already happens might not.Just putting it ou there
