” KIDDERMINSTER Harriers have confirmed the signing of forward Charlie Lutz on loan from Aston Villa. The 20-year-old striker has risen through the ranks at Villa having first joined them aged nine. Charlie, who is able to play as a striker and out wide, has established himself as a regular in amongst the action in Villa’s PL2 action and added to that experience with an outing in the EFL Trophy earlier this season. Our new man has joined us on loan until the end of the season.”
Are we underestimating ourselves? Our loanees are NL and lower end L1 and, whilst looking decent, are unlikely to be Prem. standard. Should we be looking at Forest, Huddersfield (done OK at both before) Leeds, Sheff’s, Hull and the like for a bit of extra quality.
February 3, 2025 at 10:57 am #298363Wonder how much he’s costing them?
February 3, 2025 at 11:00 am #298364I’m generally not in favour of loanees, they rarely succeed and the players we’re likely to get at this level and unlikely to be hot prospects.

February 3, 2025 at 12:05 pm #298368Villa paying 75% of Rashfords £325K per week so I guess they’ll be trying to recoup at least half of that from Kiddy?

Isn’t a lot of the loan market down to contacts?
February 3, 2025 at 3:00 pm #298371We should be looking at league two squad player loans who are used to the more physical demands of lower league football. Done right we can add sufficient depth where needed. A substantial injury to Whitehall and/or Roberts and we’re done for.

Perhaps but there’s equally no way we can afford to carry suitable replacements for them in the squad, nor will higher-up clubs be happy for their youngsters to come and sit on the bench at GP as cover.

I saw the tread title and thought it was the ground staff’s attempt at getting Beck to score!

February 4, 2025 at 5:18 pm #298400Here’s another:-
“Spennymoor beat the transfer deadline on Monday evening to sign talented young midfielder James Huntley on loan from Premier League outfit Newcastle United.
The 20-year-old starlet has agreed a deal which will see him remain on loan at The Brewery Field until the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign.”February 4, 2025 at 6:48 pm #298404Deadline for non league doesn’t come in till March so no problems on the loan front.
February 4, 2025 at 7:53 pm #298407Not when but ‘where from’ was my point.
February 6, 2025 at 7:49 am #298445Whilst many other clubs across the footballing spectrum have signed players either full contracts or loan deals the fact its all quiet at the AAGP brings it home just how financially strapped the club is.. never known a spell of inactivity re signings bit sad really but at least we still have a club and Stu Maw.
Still loosing 65k a month is head shaking after all the progress in the last year plus .. maybe lowering the bar and off loading some of the over paid Hilton era players could be agood idea even at the cost of longer in the NLN

It seems there are seven players who exist outside of the new regime’s wage structure, due to contracts. When those expire the players will either move on or sign up on reduced terms. The club can’t do anything in the meantime, other than accept offers if they come in and if they are decent. It looks like there haven’t been any offers so far – but do we ever really know, until someone walks out of the door? These things can sometimes happen fast. With Roberts in particular, I find the apparent lack of offers unfathomable. But that’s where we are, or where we appear to be.
February 6, 2025 at 8:58 am #298447They’ll be on good money until June, why would they move for less money before then?
February 6, 2025 at 11:16 am #298452Why move anyway, are any of them going to play in front of any bigger crowds or play in a better stadium.
Butterfield was happy with his lot here and he was prepared to take a wage cut just to stay, why shouldn’t others.

February 6, 2025 at 12:59 pm #298459Loanees are complete hit and miss. We’ve had some excellent ones from the same league or the one above, and some absolute duds from Premier League teams (Devonte Redmond from Man Utd springs to mind!).

Some of the best, and worst players I’ve seen in an SUFC shirt are loanees.
No exact science to it but it’s something I’d always advocate for, even more so with our current financial restrictions.

After his contract had expired, he wasn’t prepared to fall into line with the new wage structure.
February 6, 2025 at 2:14 pm #298464Doubt whether Carlton or Beck and the rest were offered just over the minimum wage to sign and nor should have Butterfield been.
At this moment in time Carlton would only be offered a steward’s job and that’s only if there was a new place available.
February 6, 2025 at 2:30 pm #298466IMO Butterfield should have been kept at all cost .. how we could do with him now!!

“At all cost” would have defeated the object of putting a sensible wage structure in place. When his wife kicked off on socials about insulting offers and other players being on more, etc, she neglected to mention the specifics. His contract had run out and the offer(s) made to him were in line with club policy. Same will happen when ‘the seven’ come to the end of their contracts.

Sounds as if they’d already lined Hughes up? I’m guessing he’d have being consulted on the 11 deadline beating newbies? The American owners are aware of the importance of staying in the EFL and have rolled the dice.
February 6, 2025 at 6:40 pm #298470Saying just above minimum wage is quite specific.
Where’s this club policy come from? and why have they broke it with Banjo Beck for one.
February 6, 2025 at 7:23 pm #298472I can’t answer either question as I don’t have your insider knowledge.
