Swann was non committal on a new striker coming in “stating that we have to be careful because Van Veen and Olomola are due to be back end of January ”
According to Cox they’ll not be be back until end of February. They have to get their fitness up, which will probably take another month you would have thought.
MCgahey and Onariase due back end of January. Brown is back in a few weeks.
Hallam is out again this Saturday with a sore thigh and Hippolyte is out as well.
Looks like McAtee coming off the bench again for one of his legendary high octane stints.
Dales will have to come in now with Eisa probably starting on the left.
Loft is 50/50.
December 31, 2020 at 9:54 pm #200014I’d rather an extra CM came in than another ST.
January 1, 2021 at 3:05 am #200019Yes, I forgot we were awash with capable strikers.
Take Loft out we’ve got Turan who looks to have disappeared “probably for the best”. Mooney has hit 1 goal in national league north.
Jarvis is utter tripe but injured. Olomola and Van Veen both crocked.
I don’t know about you but going all the way through to March with just Loft is utter madness.
I will however agree we need another CM player. Striker has to be more important though surely ?
Least we have Spence, Beestin there. I think Hornshaw would do fine there as well.
January 1, 2021 at 10:36 am #200024Looks like Gilliead could be set for a stint in CM with Green given a go out wide. I agree it’s time to give Dales a chance and if McAtee gets picked ahead of him I’ll be very disappointed. Too early to write KDT off? Lets hope he’s got something to offer.
January 1, 2021 at 11:16 am #200030He can’t offer anything if he’s not on the pitch!
How do we know whether he’s better or worse than Jarvis?
January 1, 2021 at 12:22 pm #200035Is it possible that he could be worse?
January 1, 2021 at 12:51 pm #200038Anything is possible!
But given Swann was saying “we will struggle to finish the season” in his recent message, how can we be contemplating new signings?
January 1, 2021 at 2:54 pm #200041How did we contemplate signing so many in the summer?
January 1, 2021 at 4:42 pm #200045How did we contemplate signing so many in the summer?
I think we assumed we would get more money from the EFL
January 1, 2021 at 5:28 pm #200050Need a striker then give Harry Jessop a chance but in a 2 man front.
January 3, 2021 at 12:15 am #200129in a 2 man front
Very rarely has Cox played with two strikers, always seems to play 1 up top with somebody in the no 10 role.
January 3, 2021 at 12:19 am #200131I see KDT got a whole minute to prove himself today!
January 3, 2021 at 12:39 am #200133To be fair in the little we’ve seen he’s been awful.
According to his stats he’s played 83 games in total and scored 11 goals…2 of which were for Weston super Mare.
Last 25 games he’s scored 2 goals.
I mean come on, it’s a joke.
I’d even be tempted to stick Loft upfront with Dales…least Dales has got pace and scored a good goal for the reserves.
I’d give Barks a go at CB as well, he can’t be any worse than Cordner….sooner he get’s sent back the better.
Bedeau is shite as well…just he’s less shite than Cordner.
January 3, 2021 at 11:52 am #200150I said the same in another thread WG.
And he’s just one of a whole (to use your terminology) raft of poor signings that hardly ever feature, and when they do look completely out of their depth.
Our recruitment policy stinks!
Five Ryan Lofts do not equal one Andy Keogh.
January 3, 2021 at 12:30 pm #200154Reading this today from Hurst you could be forgiven for thinking he had come back to Scunny ..,,
Performance-wise, the lads are trying, I didn’t see anything where I would say people aren’t trying, but as much as I love those attributes – which should be a minimum by the way – there’s an old saying that you can put a dog on the pitch and they’ll run around, but you won’t do very well with a team of dogs.
January 3, 2021 at 2:04 pm #200156And even worse with a team of puppies!
January 3, 2021 at 3:32 pm #200161And even worse with a team of puppies!
Back in my mispent youth it was a major talking point of success in the pub when you’d managed to get the puppies out the previous night. Never made me a better footballer though. 😞
January 3, 2021 at 5:36 pm #200166Five Ryan Lofts do not equal one Andy Keogh.
Maybe a Matt Bailey instead, the guy who started ahead of Keogh when they joined on loan?
January 4, 2021 at 3:03 am #200183Matt Bailey is truly one of the worst strikers I’ve ever seen for United. I remember we got him on loan from Stockport….absolutely awful.
later Bailey was converted to a CB..tell’s you all you need to know.
Between him, Andy Parton and Tomi Ameobi…enough to give you nightmares.
January 4, 2021 at 9:07 am #200193Was Bailey not from Crewe? He didn’t look a very good striker, either way.
Bit harsh on Andy Parton in my opinion, he had a bit about him. He does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Tomi Ameobi.
January 4, 2021 at 9:10 am #200194Bailey was on loan from Stockport but went to Crewe from Stockport.
January 4, 2021 at 10:17 am #200199Cheers MM, I must had misremembered it.
