As are many big clubs fans, Liverpool fans are no better when it comes to arrogance IMO, it’s all about years of being fawned over about how wonderful all these teams are and nowadays it’s just down to money.

I’ve met various fans from all three clubs over many years. In my opinion the Scousers I’ve met have been the least arrogant. Think they’re comedians but not really arrogant.

Evertonians seem more level headed. Liverpool fans come across as arrogant in their “this means more” rhetoric about how their club is somehow more special than others. A lot of big club fans have a “who do you really support?” attitude to small club fans though.

Same in Scotland with Celtic and Rangers, made more annoying by their grouping of other clubs as “mini-Septic” or “mini-Huns”. As a Hearts fan told me “we’re not either of them. They should stick their sectarian shite where the Sun don’t shine.”

I think success breeds arrogance be it sport, government or life in general. The Evertonians of this world have won less but have a genuine appreciation of not only their own club but the game in general and where their club sits in the game.

And tragedy hasn’t done them any harm in them feeling special either.
