Looks like a reheated version of the recent Unity bucket collection for the pitch renovation. I’ll repeat what I’ve said before. We need to be factoring this into running costs. This approach is not sustainable.9 users thanked author for this post.
March 18, 2026 at 7:58 pm #317713Another scattergun approach have they no shame, promote one scheme then set up another on the same line, Irish iron just donated £500 to the pounds for the pitch, will they get the recognition they deserve in every programme next season, a place on a wall dedicated to pounds for the pitch.
Ill thought out at best whoever dreamt it up didn’t even see the value in selling the penalty spot rectangle or the corner posts for more Dosh.2 users thanked author for this post.
March 18, 2026 at 8:41 pm #317717£15,600 if all plots sell.

March 18, 2026 at 10:28 pm #317722ffs, Scunthorpe United are becoming a joke. Why should we pay for the pitch.
Sinking to a new low. Is the corner square where Hurst cannot take a corner from available as it is sand and not grass according to the boss, surely a discount price.
It is hard enough to afford a day at football for the garbage we have witnessed since the Horsham home match, so i will just pay for my seat, which i think i will have longer than our clueless management.
Are we all looking forward to another struggle on saturday, a tough game at second bottom Braintree ??
Braintree scored 3 at Truro, just saying..2 users thanked author for this post.

March 19, 2026 at 8:43 am #317731Is StuMaw running this, it’s really just a big footy scratch card… but with no chance of winning anything.
£15.6k towards a £50k to £350k project.
Tesco… every little helps. How about linking the GPS the players wear to mini flexi ‘screens’ on their backs – every time the player moves in to a new sector… the sponsors name is illuminated on the screen on the players back
Witchcraft.
Ps – I’m guessing our expenditure on this will be at the lower end of the scale.

There’s a geezer in Blackpool who we could ask if he’s interested in sponsoring a sandpit square.

March 19, 2026 at 8:51 am #317734If we get promoted how the hell will we survive.
The Club cannot even afford the grass to play on.2 users thanked author for this post.
March 19, 2026 at 9:08 am #317736Is the club in trouble financially ?
If we do get promoted, expect prices to increase, as expected, But surely when we are achieving crowds above 4000 we must make some money, you do not hear of Harrogate and others saying they are struggling and have bucket donations…March 19, 2026 at 11:15 am #317739I can’t help thinking, because of the recovery of last season’s pitch, would we have been better off just keeping that pitch, with a bit of routine maintenance.
It had certainly looked better in the end during the playoffs.1 user thanked author for this post.
March 21, 2026 at 10:59 am #317825IMO Fans will be split on this
1.
love it and see it as a dream of owning a slice of the hallowed turf, also as a great business idea and way to raise funds all be it a tiny portion of the funds needed to re lay a new pitch etc.
How long before Glyn twigs on to a sponsored message on the score board or we could hear James Moody over the tannoy ” The free kick was taken from a square owned by ******* ” ” the goal was scored from bla bla blaAND OR
2.
Just another SUFC money grab off fans many of whom have dug deep on numerous occasions in the last few years when in reality the pitch should be down to the club owners to fund.SO Bruers .. which camp are you in ??
btw IFA is firmly in camp 2 ..

March 21, 2026 at 12:52 pm #317832Goes without saying I’m in 2.
The owners come across as grubby money grabbing b******s.2 users thanked author for this post.
March 21, 2026 at 12:58 pm #317833Looking for additional income streams is fair enough but some smack of desperation and seem ill advised. Very harsh and unfair interpretation of the owners actions IMO.

March 21, 2026 at 1:29 pm #3178342 years now and what income streams have they come up with besides the 3 day fest, nice try mind just went to big for something new.
Could learn a lot from Dave (and I don’t mean the positive one) and what he did at Ilkeston and what he’s doing at Matlock, will he fail who knows but at least he’s trying.By the way what is offering us a private medical screening service at the cost of £75 a month for anyone over forty with the nearest clinic in the London area, anything else than scunny money grabbing.
You know I could list at least ten or more other things they’ve promoted at us.1 user thanked author for this post.
March 21, 2026 at 1:40 pm #317835We don’t need them to replicate the generation of the bad debt by dubious means for self-serving purposes.

March 21, 2026 at 1:54 pm #317839If it helps then why not ?
Do not understand the resentment. Remember they are still reducing the outstanding debt and also a budget that has us in the play-offs.
When that ‘Lottery’ winner steps forward to clear the nightmare and officially resets the club with a plus balance anything has to be considered.

March 21, 2026 at 2:15 pm #317842Michelle’s statement on the 24th October 2024 stated only 10% of the debt remained, nearly a year and a half forward and your still playing that card.
You don’t think she was lying to us do you.3 users thanked author for this post.

March 22, 2026 at 11:47 am #317982I think fans would be more supportive of and sympathetic to this if:
• there was full transparency about the current finances and why we can’t meet the running costs from normal revenue streams;
• there had been proper consultation with fans about the idea;
• there was a clear plan to make us financially sustainable at this level as well as prepared for operating in the EFL.Personally, I am quite happy about league position and don’t think we are ready for League 2. What’s more important is to build foundations for further progression. At the moment it feels like we are still working in the survival mode that was necessary when the current regime took over. I may be wrong, but at the moment I see no evidence of a long term plan.
If it helps then why not ?

March 22, 2026 at 12:04 pm #317986It’s not hard to see why we can’t meet the running costs, they employ to many non playing staff.
We expected and wanted change when Swanny left, it started to happen but the new owners had other ideas.

March 22, 2026 at 3:38 pm #318007Do we really have too many non-playing staff? I thought that aspect was very lean. In fact, the lack of expertise in some areas is linked to the foundation needed to progress.

March 22, 2026 at 6:27 pm #318029Invisible Matt’s wage should cover a few non-playing roles.
