Steady game with 3 good goals!
Looked a little tired from Saturday.Nice save by Rory to keep us 0-0 first half and a fine save late 2nd half.
Defence fall asleep at times which is a slight worry.
But bar that 3 points in the bag.October 7, 2025 at 10:32 pm #312060Played a lot of games in a short Space of time. Looked lethargic. Their keeper puts our apparent ‘goalkeeping crisis’ so far in the shade, it needs night vision goggles.
October 7, 2025 at 11:01 pm #312062Aye, he had a bit of a Mair!

October 7, 2025 at 11:05 pm #312063Matt tried to emphasise his argument by suggesting he was talking objectively when discussing the keepers, my counter argument would be objectively we are weaker defending crosses in full back positions than anywhere else as again proven tonight.
Tonight was always going to be a tricky game, subconsciously we were never going to be at the levels when competing against the likes Carlisle/York.
A good 3 points to bounce back with and 3 excellent finishes

October 7, 2025 at 11:46 pm #312064A tough watch at times defensively, especially when their goal kicks were ending up in one-on-one situations! Three cracking goals though to seal the points. If after 13 games you’d have told me we’d be averaging above 2 points per game I would have called you a nut job! Goalkeeper situation still a bit of a worry for me but Rory is doing relatively well and made two great saves tonight.

October 7, 2025 at 11:54 pm #312066Gutted Will Evans’ shot from outside the box didn’t fizz into the top corner.
Tyrell SF brought a bit more energy, definitely a livewire.
Wasn’t stellar but points in the bag. This could’ve been a banana skin but was dealt with, will do for me.

October 8, 2025 at 9:11 am #312070Considering their start to the season Morecambe have done incredibly well and looked a good side in the making last night. We must remember they have had considerable investment put into the club proving once again that money is the key whatever level you compete at. They pressed us really well for the first thirty minutes but then we began to react to them just dropping off their levels after that. Three great goals for us and CBRP is spot on about the weakness at the back stick again although Denton was injured when their goal occurred and as a result could not get there in time. Decent night for Rory with two excellent saves but in general we were lethargic at times but this will happen against sides that work hard and our recent workload didn’t help, three points is good enough for me and that’s what’s important when your not 100% at it all game.
October 8, 2025 at 9:18 am #312072I know we could do with a good cup run but a fair number of regular starters could do with a day off for rest and recuperation for the next set of league challenges.

October 8, 2025 at 11:37 am #312083They could but I hope he doesn’t rest them this time, could do to be in that shop window again against a league side just to show we haven’t disappeared.
October 8, 2025 at 12:53 pm #312084Not an easy one is it – deciding how many to rest, for how many minutes, balanced with needing the money and progression. Fingers crossed to be out of sight by half time. Can’t see it though. KL will throw everything at it.

October 8, 2025 at 1:37 pm #312087Too much and you become a tinker man. I personally like to see a steady settled side.
Butler isn’t shy about mixing in up and I think more often than not he gets it right.
As Butler is a fitness freak he seems to have a good appreciation on recovery time and energy levels.
I like to think it isn’t all data driven and there is some common sense. The players should know what they feel capable of. It could lead to being too risk averse.
October 8, 2025 at 1:41 pm #312088Hope he goes pretty much full strength tbh and takes it very seriously. We changed most of the team last season at Newcastle Town, and it was one of the most embarrassing performances I have ever witnessed.

Treat the opposition with contempt and how many times do you see it all go pear shaped.
As SST says treat with respect, there is serious money on offer now and could be vital in what the club is trying to achieve.1 user thanked author for this post.
October 8, 2025 at 3:01 pm #312091What like last Saturday?
The Mark Hughes team talk, they think we’re shite, they think they don’t need to play their top 2 goalscorers, nuff said.
October 8, 2025 at 4:20 pm #312094I think Carlisle were treated with respect. Don’t know the reasons for benchng them. But yes, Hughes may have assumed that, rather than it being simply rotation. Different conversation had TSF and Dawson shone and bagged a few.
October 8, 2025 at 5:37 pm #312095If Whitehall is still carrying a knock then I’d potentially rest him and possibly Denton as he apparently he has a tight hamstring. Other than that full strength injury dependent.
Apart from the obvious reason that we need the money, a good cup run can generate a buzz we haven’t seen in a long time. Used to enjoy our runs in the early 00’s against Burnley/pompey/bolton/Chelsea etc
October 8, 2025 at 6:26 pm #312096Suppose they’ll have no midweek game next week so can get behind fielding as strong a side as possible
October 8, 2025 at 7:36 pm #312097But they crucially didn’t Deerey, and surely treating another team with respect is to play your strongest team possible.
Or maybe Butler thought he had which would be concerning or he’s started targeting games already. -
