For anyone actually interested, Jimmy Dean has Spalding United currently sitting top of the Southern League Premier Central, with a crowd of over 1400 attending the most recent game on 28th against local rivals Stamford. Credit due for both achievements in what is in effect 7th tier football.

Matlock town had a pre Xmas crowd of 1576 in the northern premier league east in tier 8.

It was free entry for home and away fans v Lincoln Utd which would have helped the attendance.

Update from a Matlock Fan.
Manager that was sacked boxing day just being repointed with new assistant (who was manager last season when we went down).

Player wise, we keep paying big money for injury prone players, then have paid a fair few off !!!! Really can’t understand what’s happening. As for being 3rd and changing the manager, our wage bill is rumour to be between 4 times higher than most other teams, so I would expect more !!!

On the Montel Gibson saga Mtfc which you brought up do you still put the blame on the club or Montel.
I’m staying (season ticket boost✓) I’m going (we were sold a lemon) staying after all! Nah I’m off again.

I not brought it up resenty but The Montel Gibson situation was a farce on all sides. One aspect was that we hand over the club via a e-mail vote with only 5 days to vote. On that stated he would stay, followed by him leaving 48 hours later. However I understand he had a contract !!!

Biggest issue is that we were promised we would stay up (went down) promised MG would stay (left) in fairness Connor Washington is a exceptional replacement. Frustrations are high, with support base we should be at least Northern Prem!

Must be concerning for you Mtfc over the manager saga one minute he’s gone for poor results and table position the next he’s back and only being told he’d been let go to go to a bigger club.
That’s one of the things I didn’t like about him the chopping and changing on decisions, tuther him being on social media ( not a place for a football club owner) does he still go there.
Has he come up with the investment in the youth teams (sadly we don’t here don’t even enter the fa youth cup) and the investment in the ground improvements, already seen he’s done a great looking sports bar.
Take it with a pinch of salt scunny fans wishing you good luck, most want you to fail because of the Hilton connection.
Top spot looks out of question so playoffs have got to be a must for you, may even pop along myself and watch a game.

You know better than that Deerey, quite obvious by what CMC posts he wants Dean to fail at Spalding.
So god help Hilton at Matlock.
I’d like Hilton to do well at Matlock, what says everyone else lol.

I believe the majority want Matlock to do well that does not stop some of us saying what we think about the owners style of doing things and how it has panned out before. I also think the majority still cannot believe he was allowed anywhere near a football club after our close call with oblivion after his stewardship of our club but it is just my opinion.

You get very tetchy when Hilton and Matlock are brought up AWG, any reason why?

Not really I just hope they both succeed, just like I hoped Swanny would succeed when he was the owner, was fully behind him right up till he stopped funding the club and pretty much the same with Hilton up till he stopped his funding.

Hilton spent a lot of money but did he ever “fund” that expenditure?

Well someone funded it and still is at Matlock.
Mtfc fan said rumours have it he’s spending up to 4 times more than similar division clubs, so he’s got one hell of a friendly bank manager that will throw money at him at whichever club he’s at (highly unlikely unless he after committing fraud) plus the bad press from being at Scunny.
Or maybe he funds it from his own pocket and receipts from the club.
Amazingly he appears to get people to work for him, clubhouse refurbished for one,
Down to you now how do you think the clubs he goes to get funded.

All we know for certain is he’s had to provide proof of funding to the fa and National League under the EFL umbrella for Ilkeston, Scunthorpe and now Matlock.
