Man dies after falling from lamppost putting up Union Jack flag – Manchester Evening News https://share.google/d3YpD4rBJHSNw5pCY
December 13, 2025 at 9:17 am #314238The sadness of this post is clearly seen . The first in not to grieve over this tragedy (Karma -informal- “there’s something highly satisfying when karma strikes”.)
The mindset of someone who posted this shows a disregard for the grief now being experienced by people who knew and loved this person.December 13, 2025 at 9:38 am #314240What, for posting ‘Karma’?
December 13, 2025 at 9:59 am #314241This is tragic – from The Rochdale Herald:
‘Man who died putting flag on lamppost to have roundabout painted in his honour
A Rochdale man who died after falling from a lamppost while putting up a flag “for patriotic reasons” is to be remembered with a painted roundabout, councillors have confirmed.
Michael “Mick” Dawson, 52, a Reform voter and self-described “defender of British values”, was decorating Bury Road ahead of what friends said was “a general feeling that the country needed more flags”.
Onlookers said he was still waving the Union Jack as he fell — a true patriot to the very end.
Friends later said it was “a relief” to know the last thing that went through his mind was the flag, followed shortly afterwards by the pavement.
Flags across the borough were lowered to half-mast in tribute, prompting several more Reform supporters to take it upon themselves to reposition flags “properly and visibly”, after expressing concern that they were “not patriotic enough from certain angles”.
The council confirmed that several more local patriots subsequently died while attempting to adjust flags, describing the situation as “a chain reaction of national pride”.
Emergency services were called to multiple incidents involving residents “climbing with confidence and very little planning”.
One witness said a man paused halfway up a lamppost to explain he was doing it “for Britain” before falling off.
The volunteer group involved has since changed its name from Operation Raise The Colours to Operation Raise The Colours To A Sensible Height And In Full Accordance With Health And Safety Legislation, a move described as “regrettable but necessary”.
Councillors have now approved plans to repaint the roundabout at the junction of Bury Road and Crow Lane in Mr Dawson’s honour, stressing the work will be carried out “entirely from ground level and without expressing opinions about the EU”.
A council spokesperson urged residents wishing to show patriotism to do so “in ways that do not involve ladders”, adding: “Gravity remains stubbornly globalist.”
The repainting is expected to take place later this spring, weather — and nationalism — permitting.’

December 13, 2025 at 1:44 pm #314247I hear that hooligans around the country are going to show respect by shouting at a Travelodge for minutes at his time of death

“Gravity remains stubbornly globalist”Priceless! Qualifies for Private Eye’s ‘Funny Old World”.
Someone had it right when they called this an age of golden stupidity. It sometimes seems like the whole country is either in psychotherapy or needs it.

December 13, 2025 at 2:56 pm #314253Aye, but it’s important to remember to self-reflect and think it’s not just those with different opinions who may have gone wayward in opinion. In this age of polarisation, all of us can succumb to tribal views and arguments that sound good because it fits prior beliefs.
December 13, 2025 at 3:50 pm #314254Not if you apply some critical thinking.
December 13, 2025 at 3:56 pm #314255Sometimes we might overestimate our critical thinking skills, and everyone gets things wrong.
December 13, 2025 at 6:08 pm #314258December 13, 2025 at 6:20 pm #314259Racist recidivist thug dies spreading hate,seems pretty karmic to me.

December 13, 2025 at 7:04 pm #314263He leant too far to the right on his ladder?

‘he was up there with the best of em…oh, hang on’

December 14, 2025 at 9:43 am #314277Hard to have any sympathy for the dickhead when you read about his life. What has he actually done for society other than fueling hate thinly veiled as patriotism and making money from a book about his time as a football hooligan?

December 14, 2025 at 4:51 pm #314290December 16, 2025 at 8:09 am #314334Workers face ‘unacceptable’ abuse for removing flags – BBC News https://share.google/qZy0cwJDGTkDhUv2g
When you see the responses these stories get from Patriots, you have to call out their bleeting when less than sympathetic responses are posted about the racist thug dying as a consequence of his actionsDecember 16, 2025 at 10:40 am #314338Scumbags. Lots of evidence of this happening up and down the country. Saw a group of flag hangers filmed and posted online an OAP complaining about them putting a flag up outside his house. They seem to have no sense that posting their intimidation and bad behaviour puts them and their crusade in an unsavoury light. I do hope the chap in question didn’t receive any abuse or worse after they posted it.
December 16, 2025 at 11:00 am #314341This kind of behaviour turns a lot of folk off Farage. Middle England hates extremism. It’s not ‘respectable’. Fights, court cases, general delinquency and idiocy will likely keep Reform away from any real power.
The UK saved the Hyacinth Bucket tendency. The ignominy!
December 16, 2025 at 4:40 pm #314347But it might not keep them away from an alliance with the Tories.
