Down to club choice on Ewing and Roberts, Great chance of getting league football again via the playoffs so why would you get rid and piss the fans off, unless it was really silly money offered.
Brad Nicholson gone to Gateshead as well building a nice little team of ex pats up there.
January 3, 2026 at 1:44 pm #314975Indeed Gateshead out the January transfer blocks quickly signing
New Manager
Louis Storey
Mark Beck
Brad NicolsonJanuary 3, 2026 at 1:49 pm #314976January 3, 2026 at 1:50 pm #314977I’m not confident Gateshead are signing cleverly but will be interesting to see if their fortunes improve
January 3, 2026 at 2:10 pm #314979Of the 10 officially out of contract I would suggest at least re signed.
Of the 9 with no info at least 4 starts the 26 / 27 campaign.
January 3, 2026 at 3:20 pm #314981Straight into the starting line-up for Beck.
January 3, 2026 at 4:31 pm #314986Watching Gateshead at Tamworth and the commentators talk about Beck as if he’s the messiah
January 3, 2026 at 5:10 pm #314989Early return on investment for FGR.

He’s not the messiah he’s a very naughty boy.
January 7, 2026 at 12:33 pm #315093and Hakeeb 18 month deal at Dony – Oh well. If it keeps Westwood here then great
January 7, 2026 at 12:49 pm #315095Yes but only signed a 2 month contract apparently. Looks unlikely to stay.
At the time he signed for Cheltenham it was rumoured (from their end) that the reason for the short term contract was that he’d already got something lined up for the new year in Major League Soccer.
No idea how true that is, but would seem to explain why he’d settle for a short term contract following a prolonged period of looking for a club after a reasonably successful time at Salford.
Rumours clearly inaccurate then. Hakeeb obviously confident in his ability to get a better deal than Cheltenham were offering…

Mr Adelakun has the same agent from his days at SUFC.
Enough said.

Hang on a sec, you’re telling me the Donny management didn’t listen to the football geniuses on here who said he’s not good enough for us in the National League!
January 7, 2026 at 1:35 pm #315102Views from a Cheltenham fan in a Free Press article:
“Cotterill has managed his return to full match sharpness carefully and successfully and he has looked a cut above in several recent matches. He made four appearances from the bench before making his first start against Buxton in the 6-2 FA Cup second round win. He started the next six league games, scoring in the wins over Barrow and Shrewsbury Town either side of Christmas. He then went on as a substitute against Crawley Town on Sunday and scored the vital first goal to set up a 3-0 win – the perfect way to sign off. He sees things very few players in League Two see and it’s evident from his brief period at Cheltenham that he belongs at a higher level.”
“Adelakun plays with a swagger and almost makes it look effortless at times, with his touch and vision. He is not afraid to try the spectacular or the audacious. But the 29-year-old is far from a ‘luxury player’. He has been forced to run hard during his appearances for Cheltenham and he has passed the Cotterill workrate test, which some players do not manage.”
Maybe, just maybe, he’s not quite the same player as some people remember from his time here 8 years ago.
January 7, 2026 at 2:33 pm #315106I think the scepticism from some on here about how he would fit in, based on his previous time at GP was reasonable enough. Certainly sounds like a different player now though.
January 7, 2026 at 3:39 pm #315112Delighted he’s finally got there matching his undoubted ability with some hard work. If the Penny had dropped 10 years ago what could he have achieved?

January 7, 2026 at 8:46 pm #3151341 year older than Callum Roberts and has played for one more club than him…wow, such a journeyman.
