Barrows OOC 31 Dec and Westbrookes loan ends then. Chadwicks loan ends mid Jan I think.
What should/will happen in these cases and what can we hope for during the month?
Best & worst case scenarios?
Best – Barrows signs extension, Westbrooke signs permanently, one more “regular starter” comes in preferably permanent. Chadwick goes back. (I’m being realistic)
Worst – Decision made that 4 RBs are too many and Barrows released. Westbrooke goes back & Chadwick stays for the season. Nobody else in. Roberts, Whitehall & Ewing suffer injury setbacks.2 users thanked author for this post.
December 22, 2025 at 12:12 pm #314472Can certainly let Chadwick go back, If York want him !
Westbrook would be a good buy, but i hear he is highly rated at Doncaster.
And agree on the Barrows extension, but the deal may involve the quality of our pitch !
I would want a player in, winger/attacker in case we get an injury, and Butler was trying to sign Eteh, so is he after another as Eteh is not coming ?1 user thanked author for this post.
December 22, 2025 at 12:12 pm #314473Westbrooke a keeper either loan extension or better still a permanent deal.
Chadwick thanks Billy and good luck.
Barrows already shown enough for at least a deal to the end of season especially with Rose and all 3 centre backs injured.
I would add Rowley to the list of players we would struggle without and we need Sellers-Fleming to the end of the season.

December 22, 2025 at 12:15 pm #314474sorry, it was oteh, not that it happened
December 22, 2025 at 2:09 pm #314479Will depend on Rose’s fitness. Starbuck has shown he can play further up the pitch as can Denton, and Horton has proved to be a decent CB so I would offer Barrows a contract extension. At least until the end of the season.
Would love to keep Westbrooke here either permanently or on loan. Chadwick I don’t think we need now that we’re out of the Mickey Mouse Trophy and the Lincs Cup. So he can return to York for me.
BTW nice to read that Gjoshe has been given the okay to return to training.

December 22, 2025 at 2:16 pm #314480Would be brilliant if we are able to get Westbrooke’s and Sellars-Fleming’s loans extended to the end of the season.
Both Chadwick and Eze can go back.
Barrows worth a contract until at least the end of the season.

December 22, 2025 at 3:06 pm #314482Barrows. Give the lad an 18 month contract, in my eyes certainly deserves it, he looks really fit and gives 100%.
Westbrook. Look to sign permanently if Donny would agree.
Mahady. Look to extend loan to end of season.
Sellers-Fleming look to extend loan to end of season.
Eze and Chadwick. Let them go back to parent clubs if poss.
Attempt to keep all the rest of our squad together and really have a good go at winning promotion one way or the other with maybe a wembley trip thrown in as well. You can only hope.

December 22, 2025 at 3:21 pm #314484I am not unhappy with Mahady but feel that we could maybe do a bit better. He’s decent enough but someone of a similar talent but with – say – a hundred games under his belt…
Fitz is/was a hard act to follow.1 user thanked author for this post.
December 22, 2025 at 3:49 pm #314487‘Westbrook highly rated at Doncaster’? With due respect to Donny they surely can’t rate him that highly if he can’t get into their current side!
December 22, 2025 at 3:53 pm #314488Club has opened negotiations with Ross Barrows on a new contract which is a good move.
They also need to look at those whose deals run out May/June 2026. 2026/2027 is going to be a big season I think and we need to show fans that progress is the aim.

December 29, 2025 at 5:37 pm #314729Well that’s for the best. There’s a good player in there once he finds his form and a team with a system that suits his style.
January 2, 2026 at 7:34 pm #314936Eze gone back to Bolton, 2 weeks to fill his and Chadwick’s places.

January 2, 2026 at 7:45 pm #314939Isn’t he at Cheltenham, Matty
January 2, 2026 at 9:42 pm #314940Yes but only signed a 2 month contract apparently. Looks unlikely to stay.
January 2, 2026 at 10:42 pm #314951Too good for us, despite what some on here will have you believe. 2 goals and 2 assists in 4 starts for a struggling Cheltenham, he ain’t gonna be dropping down to the NL.
January 2, 2026 at 11:01 pm #314952Yes but only signed a 2 month contract apparently. Looks unlikely to stay.
At the time he signed for Cheltenham it was rumoured (from their end) that the reason for the short term contract was that he’d already got something lined up for the new year in Major League Soccer.
No idea how true that is, but would seem to explain why he’d settle for a short term contract following a prolonged period of looking for a club after a reasonably successful time at Salford.
January 3, 2026 at 3:06 am #314956Eze will be back at AAGP soon as hes left Bolton and signed for Sutton on a permanent gig according to the SUFC website

January 3, 2026 at 10:13 am #314963One of Butlers biggest achievements is he gets 100% from every player in the squad every game whatever their skill level.
The last thing this squad needs is a player that chooses his games or even minutes in games when he does that.1 user thanked author for this post.

I would hope targets had been identified a few weeks ago, presumably the loan endings give him the amount of wages he has to play with. Let’s see who’s in the bargain bin. It probably won’t save much but we surely don’t need Johnson and Jones do we?
